  1. That lay-out is a crock. It will never be any good. You ask for advice then vilify those who try to give you advice.. Nev
  2. I's a fairly thin stainless steel tank if I recall correctly. A non-offset ring spanner would be the appropriate tool. Nev
  3. I can only ask where did you get THAT design from? Nev
  4. Internal squares and allen key recesses rendered useless.. Check if your Mechanic wears a striped apron.. I've met about 5 good ones in my lifetime. IF you find a Good one hang on to him but keep an eye on who he Hires.. They are only as good as their worst Mechanic.. Nev
  5. What about stillsons? Nev
  6. Engrave or carefully stamp sheet AL about 1 MM thick. Cut it to exterior size and screw, Rivet or Glue Silastic it to Panel. Hilight it with dark enamel if you need extra definition.
  7. I can't see the Small prop doing the Job. I guess the Motor is a Rotec? A "shakey Jake" Jacobs or a Warner super scarab might do it Better
  8. The usual term is Ammeter and it measures amperes. CURRENT flow There's no significant resistance through an ammeter and excess current will kill it. so starter circuits etc aren't routed through them.. Nev
  9. Ron Jackson at Riddell's Creek built a Sopwith that flew well. I hope it's still around somewhere. The Originals with Rotary "Radial" engines had a Lot of gyroscopic effects and a LARGE Prop. Nev
  10. All tok tok. No Fix fix. Some clown mucking around with the airbox made the school gazelle use 23 L/hr instead of the usual 16, and guess who found out the Hard way.. Nev
  11. And charge $110+ an hour for the Privilege. Nev
  12. The Place has Plenty of accommodation. Tourist Busses used to take a lot of the Blue Rinse Ladies there to Play the Pokies.. Nev
  13. I don't think ANYTHING will do the Job you are asking. Moving in all directions and only 10 MM gap. Can't be reliably accomplished. Nev
  14. One reason to use a single use Crush washer is to cope with a slight misalignment / damage of the Mating surfaces. An "encased" "O" ring is better and has the Bolt Bottomed out around the O ring so is fail safe. Also doesn't have to be tightened till your eyes water, or the thread strips . Nev
  15. Fitting that thermostat creates a problem you MUST solve. You must eliminate any Possibility of AIR in the supply side of the Oil system. Nev
  16. It's an old established Airfield in a town that has seen better days. They USED to do a lot of Para drops there. Nev
  17. I'll be there on the Saturday. My boss arranged it with My eldest son and let me Know AFTERWARDS. Now I have to sell s few things to Pay for it. JetStar to Newcastle and Back. Hope the Weather is good . One Member of the MENS Shed is flying up in one of his 3 Planes . Nev
  18. Seems about right to me. Nev
  19. What do you disagree with ? nev
  20. IF the Balls in the centre the Bank doesn't matter. Nose down or Up can alter the availability of the Last of the Fuel. Might leave you short on a Go around. Nev
  21. Many oil filters are quite small these days. If they bypass even briefly Grunge can enter the Oilways. Old worn motors have more blowby , and therefore more oil contamination. Nev
  22. Some batteries can't be left FULLY discharged for very long at all. There are "special" digital chargers that can revive them but are pretty easy to damage if you don't set them up correctly and don't let anything get Hot. Having a suss Battery in a Plane is Not advised. The setup in a Rotax is a permanent Magnet type and not as easy to regulate as the 'Excited" type which won't work if shut Off when the Battery is flat. Making the Generator charge while all those extra services are On May be beyond the system's capacity. I'd sort the Battery FIRST. It's a "known" unknown. Nev
  23. Can you explain what is wrong? I'm going for Higher rated filters lately. Element durability, Higher temp and synthetic oil rated (size considerations) and Micron rating. Usually has an ST after the normal number. For larger size you have to delve in deeper and Make sure there's room for it. IF you buy them right there's little extra cost if you look around and but More at a time. Good for things Like Hydraulic Lifters and reduce wear generally. Nev
  24. What use is HP required at 10,000 feet? Nev
  25. Electrician arrived and power off for a while. Old clunkers need filter changes more often. You are trying to ensure reliability. OK IF you just drive to the Pub and back. Nev
