  1. Good point. I just gave myself an early Xmas present with a subscription to the EAA. Im curious - how long does it take to come out to Aus? My National Geographic US version can take up to 6 weeks.

So about the same as the Ra-Aus mag (or whatever its called now) depending on which part of the country to live in...

  2. I think Darky that posting this sort of thing publicly is not very wise... be cautious.

Now... if it was privately reported (and you don't need to be a lawyer to work out how to do that for yourself)... and acted upon, the subsequent finding would be relevant here... but that is another story...

    I smell a rat.

  3. Rick P... I would have to ask the old man... I do know that it was crashed and the damaged airframe sat at the Mount Isa Golf Course for a number of years before I believe it went south. I would certainly be interested to know more of the history of this Auster... the only thing I remember as a toddler about the operations of this aircarft is that it was in rough condition and flown by a "bush"( I guess that is the term you would use now) pilot... thus I have never flown in an Auster (so you can keep your lousy Tiger Moths--- give me a joyride in an Auster any day! lol).

I will try to find out more from the old man... his health is not the best.

  4. The Holden car was introduced to Australia, heavily subsidised by the Government because during WW2, when the British came under attack, they not only stopped supplying cars to Australia, but stopped supplying parts as well. The Australian Government decided that never again would the Australian people be caught without their own supply of cars and parts.

There was a lot of reforms bought about after WW2 that our veterans fought for that have been stripped away without a wimper by their children... Sadly it is the next generation that will pay the price ultimately.

  5. I think we need to be realistic... and keep in mind....pretty much, just about, anybody can fly a plane. That is part of the appeal of airline flying as a career is my guess... as long as you aren't a :banana:head and are prepared to pay your $100k.013_thumb_down.gif.ec9b015e1f55d2c21de270e93cbe940b.gif

Its not just the Airline Pilots who have gotten shafted... the industry has been pretty much de-unionized in the last 15 years... pressure on wages for 90% of the people working in the industry over the last few years means it is not the most appealing profession for anyone... The problem is you get addicted, the work is never easy and no two days are ever the same.

  6. I reckon you would love Paragliding Tomo... I did a Tandem at Carlo Sandblow near Rainbow Beach.... it is an awesome way to fly. And it not at all an expensive segment of Recreational Flying... For less than the cost of an Ra-Aus Certificate for the whole kit and kaboodle....?

  7. I just read a quote about it... "I only had to look at the smile on the Hungarian Mig pilots face as he sat in the Streak at Cranfield this year to see that the aircraft is obviously a closet jet jockey's dream. I mean, who'd buy an aircraft with a steering wheel instead of a stick and expect to enjoy it..."

  8. Whats a new Rotax582 cost?

And are there alternatives for the 582 for the Thruster- granted that you may no longer have a "certified" aircraft...

  9. Thanks DJ, will look into that...it will be great to get it approved and work towards having it replace the ERSA and WACs etcI have an IPAD myself but want to get away from Apple so this is an exciting project...for me anyway

This looks good Ian... and I fully agree with the "get away from Apple" sentiments...
