Even better... arriving by Sav on Saturday (with Instructor)... the Mrs gets to drive the car up...
-
Hi guys,
We have a thread running on Natfly asking for feedback on what could be improved... but we forgot one thing. We need to thank Carol for all her hard work on organizing the event this year and for all her hard work over the years as a Board Member first...
So...
To Carol, although I didn't attend Natfly I would like to say a heartfelt thankyou for your work for our Ra-Aus and in particular the work you have put in so that (even if we haven't yet attended) our organization can have a National Flyin.

Can't wait... Looking forward to meeting you Ross. We will be arriving by car on Saturday about lunch time... Departing Monday morning.... Matt's Flying School Sav S and a few other locals from down this way as well. This will be the first weekend I have had of work in almost (since Monto) a year so I am sooooo bloody excited to be able to combine it with a Flyin!!!!

Currently the Aerochute is the only new 2 place non kit built recreational aircraft that fits the budget... I was tempted to go that way. Its a shame... surely there is a market there.
-
Isn't the market for aircraft amazing at the moment!!! The number of fantastic aircraft available in OZ for around $100k or less mark is amazing. I still find it a shame that there isn't a $30k factory built rag and tube though...
-
To me cost effective is the whole point... I can't say "If I wanted to spend $100k on an aeroplane I would etc etc" because I would love to spend $100k on an aeroplane... but it is just not practical. So give me Rag and Tube any day... and that is what I want to see more of at Temora. Keep in mind as has been said by others the membership is ageing... the plastic fantastics may be popular now but if the cheaper aircraft is allowed to go the way of the Dodo it will be the end of Recreational Flying when all the baby boomers move on and with them their $100k aeroplanes.
-
Don't worry Ian... I am sure that won't happen... If the Executive spent our $$$ on legal fees for this it is the Executive that will be held accountable of costing the membership... If any of it is true of course.
You do have to wonder which members of the Board are feeding these Trolls the half truths don't you?
-
VH-XXX is still trying to run up support on Pprune for this sad little saga... They must be the sourest grapes in history those poor souls have had to suck... lol
-
Oh my GOD!!!!
I have heard enough... I am rather speechless as to what to say. Looks to me like there is going to be some holes in the executive in the very near future.
-
And thanks for finally clearing this up Ian... I am not surprised that this happened. Its a shame that Carol was collateral damage in their tardy games.
-
Thankyou for that hypothetical scenario Blackrod.
-
I totally agree with Maj Millard... perhaps its a North Qld thing but this sort of rot gets my blood boiling.
I have been hearing rumors about the Executive asking a Board Member to resign or face legal action for a few months now... It appears there may be more than one....CAN ALL BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN ASKED TO RESIGN BY THE EXECUTIVE OR FACE LEGAL ACTION PLEASE RAISE YOUR HANDS... it seems from recent comments which we have no reason to doubt that the "Executive" has no ethical or moral ground to be asking anyone to resign based upon their own recent actions... but then it is so hard to know anything for fact because they are so secretive.
-
Thanks Alf... I thought the video's I watched (didn't see the one being questioned here) were bloody good... and showed aviators having a great time enjoying recreational flying as it was intended.
-
And who is flying that blue Trike to breakfast at Tooradin? lol
-
Just showed Col Pays Spitfire... Enjoy!
-
Beeeeautiful photos Neil... and some lovely, lovely aircraft. So sorry I missed it... I am going to go into work tomorrow and see if I can claim holidays a year in advance because gosh darn it! Next year I am going for sure!!!
-
Yes... please Gallant Sir Rat and his Merry Mice.So we still havent heard what the "rats" question was?. -
The advert featured a gentlemen from Camooweal in far North West Queensland... certainly a long way to drive. I was just sooooo impressed to see a flying add... I reckon Ra-Aus could do something like this... perhaps offer a package with local schools to advertise?
-
WOW! I just saw an advertisement in Mackay on channel 88 for the Darling Downs Aeroclub... encouraging people to learn to fly. Brilliant... there should be more of this.

Detailed Description
I took possion of this airplane in October and we have put 80 hours on it. We have had two door open incidents and the last one the door departed the aircraft and landed in a school yard near some kids playing basket ball. A new door is ordered and I beleive that Cessna will provide an improvement on how the door is attached to the airframe so this will not happen again. I have attached a few photos of the door after it was recorvered. My wife insisted that we upgrade to a reliable late model 172, 2006 or newer
Oh that is strange... So much for made in China lol

The Bert Hinkler Museum is brilliant... You can get a photo of yourself in the Avro Baby replica but crikey its a tight fit!

And why would "brian_abraham" join the site just to make that first post...?
-
It really is a shame... Just as an example today I went for a fly and posted the photos on my facebook page. Hundreds of people see these... if they like or comment on them as many have the link then goes onto their page and so on an so forth down the line... so from a couple of photos I am potentially able with one little facebook post to reach tens of thousands of people with the message "This is the aeroplane I flew today and look what fun it is"- this sort of publicity is priceless.
If Natfly had a web link (or indeed Ra-Aus had one for itself with Natfly on it that wasn't embarrassing to pass on) the benefit to the organisation would be priceless by linking it into the new social media that has become such a big part of modern life for so many of us.
-
Yes Blackrod. Modern Social Media demands it.
