  3. I got emailed this, not bad at all...

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.

It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos. all angles of the rock.

I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

  4. Tomo,Its a bit hard when you live just 6 kms from the centre of Melbourne to get to a reasonably priced hanger and sealed strip within 30 minutes.

For us 30 minutes is Moorabbin airport and at 200 bucks a week rent its outa my league plus its way too commercial..

That's just plain radical!! $200 a week:faint: is the taxiways Gold plated or something?!!

We certainly are more privileged than we think living in the country, where the only time you've got to slow down (100+) going to town is for Kangaroo's or cattle crossing the road....! not other vehicles:laugh:

1 min 45 sec drive for me,just about right 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

    You could walk that!!!

  5. Gee!! That was a pretty unnerving video...!:ah_oh:

It must have been a pretty quick descent if he was at 9000' (I wonder if that was AGL?)

I've always thought paragliding looked pretty cool to do, from seeing them at Rainbow Beach mainly, would be pretty hopeless out on the Darling Downs but!! Hang gliding is probably a better prospect out here...

Got to do a jump one of these days as well... next time I'm at the coast... or where ever they do them...

By the way, any more video's, story's would be cool to see/hear...!

  7. Well I suppose I could add my bit now Hey!!

I went solo in the wire braced 503 Drifter at around the 18.5-19 hr mark, I wasn't really fussed on going solo early on in the piece, I only just felt ready when I did anyway...

Flying itself was good, just mastering the nice straight take offs, and landings, which in the Drifter you get blown around pretty easily if you hit a gust of wind or the like...

And then mastering the engine failure's on take off, and trying to land it properly without stalling 10ft off the ground from not pushing the nose over fast enough!!

I've now done about 1.5hrs solo flying, mostly circuits and landings, you can only do so much in the 5 mile radius!!

So yeah, Look out Here I come...!! (in the near future that is)

    Safe flying:big_grin:

Dotdash... we all make mistakes sometimes, even if it is forgetting to put oil in the fuel:ah_oh:

Mean while back at the clouds... Thompson from Dalby has hit McAchalocks and has taken two stars off the Ratso's pride an joy by a carefully planned rick-a-shad (I don't know how to speeell it!051_crying.gif.edc6b33a234e272ee13f0ec0ae40b12a.gif) of the recycled beer canister (all those yrs playing pool have come to good use!) with half it's rivets missing.......
