Yep, C 150 aerobat... Holding the left aileron in to keep it going, because apparently they are hard to get them to spin properly!

Now that is a very nice piece of reportingness Captain! but one drastic problem is that Dalby doesn't have a Bunnings!

-
Nah your all right, I can't remember what there times system is at all now, (you've got me confused!!) When I flew over there recently, I thought they where, Oh yeah... it's an hour behind ain't it? not forward!... and I forgot all about this daylight savings thingy!Tomo,Thats two things you have back to front1) They are behind us in W.A
2) You think Drifters look better than Trikes

mate I just couldn't resistBut all the same, you do have to feel sorry for them, being so behind and that!

-
It's incredible! Almost up to Drifter standards:laugh:That Apollo is a very, very nice looking machine...Wow! -
How true...!"A CT looks like someone stuck a straw up the rear of a Jab and blew hard"

-
..........but being a typical Queenslanda, I can't find them........!

So into the bin with that Idea, have to just fly all the way back to tazzy and find the rest of the troops... Meanwhile Capitan seemed to be orbiting of the the south east a bit in the Jabiruter...
better go and see what's so exciting.......................... -
Good morning Cozzy, (well it's probably nearly smoko time over there ain't it!).
I can pretty much assure you, you won't have any coronary problems on your trial flight! (smoking causes it, so if you smoke, just leave it for about a week before your flight, and you should be right!!)
There's a few nice fella's on here that are flying out of Bindoon, and they'll show there heads soon no doubt, so you can get some first hand advice from them about what there like over there...
Have Fun, and I hope you get your flight soon, (just a warning though! once you do it, you'll be hooked!)
Ps. Welcome to this great place too...

Well you wouldn't bore me....!
I'm a Diesel Fitter, (well third yr apprentice) but have been playing with engines ever since I could walk! I've never had the privilege to work on any WW2 engines, but have replaced valves in a Rolls Royce 6 cylinder inline truck engine... parts are dear a poison for them that's for sure, one valve was $380, VRS kit was near the two grand mark! nice engine though, 400hp I think that one was.
I've been privileged to actually see and hear a Spitfire engine run, that was something I can tell you! and it's only 30mins away, a friend restored it... He also ran an old WW2 radial engine for us, splattered me all with oil too!
What sort of engine's did you (or do you) rebuild? Petrol, Diesel, oldish, or newish stuff? We do basically anything and everthing, I tell people from wipper snippers to Dump Trucks! Which reminds me, I think there's one coming into the yard next week...! there good to work on...
Anyway I could go on and bore everyone else!!;)

I don't think it's that they don't Like them... it's just there's soooo many of them around.
I love them to say the least... I think it's just like Holden and Ford, same machine really, just different opinions... (Holdens are better all the same!!)

-
Don't worry... It's not gonna happen for a wee while yet. We'll all have to have at least the X-country endorsement to make it worth while, and It will be a short while before I get mine...1. We both need PAX and X-Country, and2. We'd probably argue about who'd fly.
For the second one... well, I can't really help you with it!
Ps. What's that thing in your Avatar?, looks a bit engine-ish to me...
-
Perhaps we should do some shirts up?
I'm a 2009
Pilot
of the yr
award holder! -
Well that would make it a bit far from the one's further south... should go for somewhere in the middle, so It's fairly even distances for all to travel...I guess we'll have to meet at the thread starters base at Dalby. What we should do, is make it a recreational flying forum fly-in, half focused on us newbies, that way we can all mingle around the "experts" and catch up...

-
mmmmmm I'm not real sure?! It looks like it should fly, but the engine sound of the flying bit is a bit more ...ah... throaty! than a glow plug engine should sound like I thought.
I don't know, you do wonder though why they didn't video the take off completely...?

-
Yeah... you got to get the compass heading right first off, or else you'll end up all over the place...
BTW: it only takes about 15mins to fly from Brisy to Sydney! And: rate of climb is only a mere 26,000ft a min! Top speed of 2,655klm and hour!
Also I had a bit of trouble trying to get RAA to register it as a Recreational airplane, because the MTOW is 45,300kgs!

You don't really want to stand behind when doing the run ups as well, because there's 50,200lb of thrust being pushed out the back...

This is the last bit of script on the video Ozzie:It's a bit to long for my slow poke dial up. spoil the ending, whats katrina got to do with a home made glider?.The glider achieved numerous short hops into the air.
Unfortunately, the glider became a casualty of Hurricane Katrina never having realized its full potential.

G'day Cayla...
A person of few words I presume?!

Welcome on board:thumb_up:
It must be some nice scenery flying in NZ...
-
Yep, no skill at all! just pushing the button and watching it do the rest....Geoff - a good camera makes all the difference.A bit like those EC145 Helicopters! apparently all you do to land is push the landing button, and watch it land itself!! Great peices of engineering if you ask me!
-
and a red R22 is marooned (no, it's red)
Actually that was a little trick to deter the authority's.... It was originally white! but seeing that I accidently nicked it from Dalby, I thought I should do something to make it not so obvious...! so I found a nice flock of sea gull, and flew through the middle.....................
-
That's a tee pee (tee hee), .......... see?
There's some pretty clever Mexican's to Tubz?!
-
Haven't you seen "Free Willy"?"
Ah... Good O'l Free willy, Seen em All 1,2 and 3, great show I reckon...
Ps. Just a manner of speech from our part of the country... "Having a Whale of a Time" not real sure where it came from though? obviously whales must have a fun time down under...!
-
No, you ain't fooling me, (I'm pretty thick, but ain't that thick...) Who would live at the same place, fly the same plane, and say that there better half put them onto this great place!;)You two aren't fooling anyone you know.Apart from young Tomo obviously. It is great to have you both do it, makes a lesson last a lot longer hey, because you can talk about it all week! Both Mum and I go in each week...

That's something I should look into making I reckon... a bit of wood carving.

Flat Tyre (Not my Weekend)
in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Posted
Well it's great to hear you pulled a successful blown tyre landing...! even if it scared the living daylights out of you... I'm sure it's an event you can put in the "Done that" basket...
I'm sure your instructor is proud of you all the same, if you happened to have run off the runway, it could have ended a lot worse!
