Imagine If you were flying a Drifter, or worse still a Trike!!we had the grand total of 58-60 knots ground speed!!
You'd make better progress going backwards....:confused:But that would be two much of an Ahlocks trick;)

-
Hey Tbzu...! If you do another post, we shall be twins..... (I'll let you figure out why all by your own self...!) {Oh! Gee, just made another post elsewhere and now you'll have to do two more!}
Datdosh must have lost his memory for a moment.It wouldn't surprise me in the least about that one!

At this skcolha got yrgna and said ".....................
....... you can't do that,!
==========
Meanwhile back and wagga, I managed to side track the CASA man, and he forgot all about the cisa.... well thought dotdash, I may as well get some fuel and get this show in the air......
In the air, I called up the beer can...
Heli HHH to beer can 1
I'm a coming to eat...eerr...meet you
Thompson needs to brush up on his Met and cross country studies...Well, Ahh.... I just went by what you said, and look out the window at the windmill...and that's what I got.....

-
That's good...:thumb_up: Just don't hold your breath....! but we'll have to do something in the next little while....Ahh Brilliant.. I am looking at weather stuff and funny looking maps at the moment ..Hmm flyin in.. Sounds AWESOME :thumb_up:Count me in:clap:
-
Great minds think alike hey.....:big_grin:Maybe we should all do a fly in when we all get the x-country endorsement :D
Just what I was thinking, that's why I came up with this thread idea....:thumb_up: -
..........in the process of getting our certificates?
Make a stand here, and we'll just see how many of us new pilots there are, (or pilots in the next little while, ie. you've gone solo, and are just finishing off)
Or if you've gotten all certificated up in the last couple of months.........
============
Well there's me to start with....:thumb_up:
I'm not to far away from being certified, next couple of weeks I'm hoping...!
-
.......Just then my phone ran....... "hello DotDash, I just thought I'd give you a call to see If you know anything about a missing R22 chopper from the Dalby area...! well....eerrrr.....ummmm.....................
-
..... A very good morning to you to sir..." (got to warm him up to it you see) " May I see your A Sic please?" 'asked the casa man. Certainly sir, it was a very rough ride here and I nearly could be........................

G'day VpHarry, and Welcome aboard.....:thumb_up:
A young 75yr old... thats the spirit, your only as old as you think you are..... I've only got about 58yrs to go:laugh:
Have Fun, Fly Safe, and Join In.....:thumb_up:

Yes It's a pretty good system worked out with my Dad, works well at the moment, although I go to Tafe at the end of June for 6 weeks... so I'm working on getting my first bit all done by then... I will still have the weekends I could go, so it's not real bad suppose...
I Dream about training one day also.... but that would be a long way off yet....:big_grin:
It's good to hear you've finished your five hours solo, I've got 2.1 hrs left:big_grin: plus a few more check flights, like high speed circuits (high speed for the drifter that is) higher speed landings, (which when flying a tail drager you've got to just plant the front wheels on the ground) not exactly as easy as it looks!
Bec: Yeah, one benefit of the Drifter, is it doesn't have a stall warning horn! but it does tend to stall a lot more distinctly than a Jab, and the aircraft is telling you by a bit of a waffle and sloppy controls (and high descent rate!) Just remember, you've got to push the stick forward to "unload" the stall, I've been reading and watching crashes on utube, where the pilot obviously thought pushing the stick forward when near the ground is a scary thing, but then ended up stalling the aircraft into the ground because he was pulling the stick back with all his might.....!:confused: trying not to hit the ground......!
Safe Flying, and Have Fun...
Ps. I'm rather fortunate really, because I live within the 25mile radius.... and have a dirt strip/road out the back... so I will be able to come home.... yeehaaaa!
-
Only there a lot steadier on the body...The old drifter could also be mistaken for a mis assembled trike:laugh:
Mind you, I need to go for a trike flight to fully comprehend what you guys feel... :big_grin: -
So If it's the Sprague clutch in the Starter, why does it work if you pull the plugs out and then put them back in again...?
-
G'day Thumper...
Congratulations on passing the BAK:thumb_up: (it's wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be...!)
I get paid for three days' a week, but I'm also on standby if we get extra busy and they need me... (I work for my Dad, as a Diesel Fitter 3rd yr apprentice) or I just do it to help out.. either way, it's all good experience:thumb_up:
So that's how I can do my flight training on Tuesday... my Day off most times:big_grin:
Have Fun...
Ps. Have you gone Solo yet? Because I thought you had to do the Air Leg exam before you could?
-
31: Every time you need more power, there's always more throttle...!

Bolly Prop
in Jabiru
I overheard Steve Bell (Raa Tech Manager) talking something about Bolly and Brolga props... something about he's been working with one of them and got them producing again....
I'm not sure about any of that, but If you give Steve a buz he'll soon let you know I'm sure...
-
My instructor uses Armor Oil on the Drifter.... Makes it look a million dollars, and it would improve performance I'm sure...:thumb_up:
-
You get used to people watching you when your in the mechanical business...! few times we've had to fix broken down buses and coaches, you've got about 45-50 people all standing there watching then, some with video camera's ...!I had about 20 peaople watch me one day when there was a family watching a relative skydive...I knew one of them, next thing they are all watching me!
-
Stall's in a Jab aren't that bad... if you go into them nice enough you hardly even know your stalled if your up high enough, and don't look at the instruments:big_grin:before stalls etc were thrust upon me by my wonderful instructor.That's good about it being not to bad... some hope in there then:thumb_up:
-
Beercan 1, still on one mile final...bugga, two mile final... Aww C:censored:p! three mile final again....
Hey Mclock! you'd be better off coming in backwards.... with way your going.....:ah_oh:
Now Dotdash has got the POH out and trying to rack his brain on how to land this unstable piece of contraption with a lot of spinning parts on the ground in one piece, so there will be peace at the Wagggggaaaaa airport.........
Oh! dear...! you need an ASIC thingy at this aerodrome don't you?! Let's just hope the man in CASA have gone home for the day......:confused:
==========
Carefull there Ahlocks, you may end up the wrong way round......;)
-

-
Hang on a sec...! I'm not a normal R22 pilot, but something in me says I won't have enough go go juice to get to wagga wagga..! but never the mind, I'll lean it out, and try not to melt down half way......... so throttle to flat out, stick forward, and away we go on the race to wagga x2.........
