  1. I've marked it down on the family calender, so we should be there (hopes!).

Not sure what I'll take over yet, It'll be either be the Drifter, Jab, or a mates GT 500. And hopefully the family in the car!

Will confirm as times get closer.

Ps. Neil I'll have to go for a bash in the trike with you!

  2. G'day Jim, as soon as I saw the "Old plane Nut" of your username I new you musta been some sort of LAME! What sort of aircraft did you used to work on?

Welcome along and enjoy, at Temora I saw a CAP Wasp with the "V" tail and lawnmower engine. Was pretty cool, though I don't think I'd venture out on one!

    Have fun and keep safe.

  3. The rest of the trip went extremly well. Gundy

Once we met up, I kept Gundy outa trouble

It was either the fridge, or sitting on it to keep it warm... :clown:

& thanks for showing me over your aircraft at Temora.

Jimny, you making people climb over it Gundy??

  4. The 5000ft limit is humorous at the best of times... think about it.

VFR cruising levels - heading east, odd numbers + 500ft, so you 'have' to do 5500ft (breaking the 5k limit rules right there). Unless of course you want to go at 3500ft, but that is just not practical in most places.

So if we can break the rules just a little bit, what's saying we can't break them a lot? (not saying I'd go around breaking rules just for the heck of it) But seriously, it just isn't logical.

Now we can go pass 5000ft to go over tiger country or high terrain. If we are allowed into this sacred area then, what's the difference over other areas? It'd be more dangerous climbing descending through everyone else on cruise, than blending in with it. ??

Sorry I'm off topic a bit. Fortunately, CASA have noticed the hilarity of this rule, and are working on lifting it - hopefully!

Once upon a time we couldn't go above 500ft, now we can't go under it, unless licensed to do so............. 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif006_laugh.gif.d4257c62d3c07cda468378b239946970.gif

Ps. I'm afraid I break the height rule quite a lot, having a range nearby.

  5. G'day Rotary man, welcome along!

Sounds like you should never be short of having a lot of fun..! I've done a bit of work on a R22 before, remove engine on one, and help balance another. That was a great experience, I even got to have lots of rides!

I've never been in anything other than the little 22, would love to have a go in something else one day soon.

I've got low level also, and burn round on a property with a Drifter, great fun! You chopper pilots seem to like keeping the ground 'just there'! 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

    Where about's do you instruct?

  6. I know a guy who likes people making an area broadcast when climbing past 5000ft and then again when dropping down. All on Area Frequency - I think that it is quite unnecessary myself... if we all did that, I'm sure Brisy/Melb center will start getting rather annoyed!

What do you think about that? Or is that what you supposed to do?

  7. I'm a one zero mile caller... any of you who have been flying with me could probably tell you.

I think it sounds more professional, though it's not one of those 'do it or else' things! I've been doing it most of my time, and it comes without thinking now...

Just like saying three thousand five hundred, rather than thirty five hundred, just a little bit of finesse to make it sound simpler or something.

  8. G'day Rob, yes we fitted everything in quite well actually. Mind you both of us together only weigh 105kgs, so that helps a lot! Not ideal for balance, so that is what I have to watch mostly.

we put the bag's (heavy items) on top of tank, and the real light stuff behind it. We didn't have any issues at all, and it landed fine, stalled or flown on.

Empty weight on them is about 283kgs, Mtow is 500kg, 65ltr tank about 48kgs. So you can do your sums on that.
