Not sure if you've seen my set up with my last video?
======
- The camera mount is this gizmo I made up after work one day -

It attaches on the drop down ledge behind your head on the roof, works great actually. Not sure how it'd go with a passenger but in a 160 it might be more room and you could fit it between your heads. (better view that way )
- Camera type is just a Sony camcorder (8mm digital vhs type - old I know but works still). - But I made the mount to fit anything, as you can see one of my still digital camera's on it when attached to the dresser cabinet. You just screw the screw up on the bottom into the camera.
- Sound recording was just camera speaker, but I can record intercom by hooking up a line recorder on the passenger headphone output jack (just use an adapter).
- Editing software is iMovie on the iMac computer, my iBook G4 is just to slow, so I have to use Dad's iMac.
Next time I want to mount it in such a way so you can see the ASI and a few more instruments. That way you can see exactly what is happening.

Oh dear... I'm in the process of processing a SPL through with 'em too! they better not take that long!

RAAus - I got mine within the week.

Hey Rach, that landing was pretty (err very!) good!
Nice work

Ok, so I'm a whittle bit confused.....

I'm filling out my Student pilot License form and it has this question to answer:
2.3 Security Check Requirements -
Please select the option below that applies to you (at the time the license is to be issued)
# I am under 18 yrs of age and a security check is not required
OR
# I hold a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) issued by CASA - see below if you got your ASIC before you turned 18.
# I hold a valid Aviation Identification Card (AVID) issued by CASA
# I hold a valid ASIC NOT issued by CASA and a certified copy is attached
# I DO NOT hold a valid ASIC/AVID and an application is attached to this application
Note: If your current ASIC was issued before you turned 18, and you will be more than 18 yrs and 3 months when your application is processed, you will only be eligible to apply for a license if you have applied for a new ASIC before you reach 18 yrs and 3 months. Otherwise your ASIC will have been cancelled.
I hold an ASIC card that has been issued by RAAus, and it expires end of this month (got the new application form and notice today)
So do I answer the 'valid asic but not issued by casa, and supply certified copy' {not sure what they mean by certified copy either} question?
Or the last one, and give them the application form, even if it's RAAus? Or do I have to fill out a CASA one?
The thing is, I have a valid ASIC till the end of this month - renewing it asap - what do they mean by certified copy? is it a photo copy of my ASIC ??
I also got my ASIC before I turned 18....!??!?
HELP

Thanks

Well, that's an arguable point though Pud...

"Are you married, Albert?"
"No, I was hit by a car."

He Solo'd in a Drifter at 17 also! :thumb_up:May I also add that he's one of us! -
Yep :thumb_up:Do you know why Bill Knows so much? -
Thanks very much Bill, very informative indeed.

VFR flight levels are odd/even numbers + 500 - eg. 5500ft 6500ft, IFR levels are odd/even numbers only.Dont IFR levels start @ 5 or 6000? Might be why they wanted us unskilled drivers lower. -
I've flown gliders, and haven't a PPL, also we go way past 5000ft, no transponder or nothing, we don't even tell anyone (ie ATC).Then again, Gliders are flown by pilots who have a PPL, and are more closely controlled by CASA.My mate fly's hang gliders, and I'm pretty sure they're unrestricted to pretty much any height, (oxygen permitted). Not real sure about that though, any hang glider junkies around here?
If there has been an aircraft questioned about being to high by ATC (ie over 5000ft) I reckon I'd eat my hat. Would make a pretty humorous law suit I reckon!
CASA has said themselves somewhere that they aren't actually even sure why the 5000ft limit was even put in place. (can't remember where I saw it now though)

The wife was nervous as she got behind the wheel of their new car for the first time. "I hardly know what to do," she said.
"Just imagine I'm driving," he said.

You may have a steeper approach, though if you look at the altimeter It'd still clear a reasonable obstacle. Though I made that first circuit to match the 1stage flap one, usually I am a little closer and a full glide on that to. But just for illustration I did that.David, was it just my uneducated impression or did Tomo have a flatter approach than would be possible coming in over the trees at YWVA?
Thanks Don, I try my best! (you need to do good, cause you have all the people in the hangers watching! and they usually know who's driving!Tomo - that second landing was sweeeet indeed.A few questions on the technology, if you wouldn't mind:
Camera type?
Camera Mount?
Sound recording via?
Editing software?
)Ok, don't mind at all:

Interesting hey, I could go and jump in the hang glider, or 'a' glider and go to FL10, but flying a sophisticated aircraft you're stuck to 5000ft. When I get my PPL I can fly the Jab into CTA area's (transponder) but not above 5000ft?? (legally)

Thanks David :thumb_up:Nice landings Tomo, nice flare and a nice clean hold off, you only knew you had touched down from the noise of the wheels n the black stuff. What does the POH say the Vso is on the J120 at Max weight, is it 48 as in the J160? If the POH says 65 knts approach you could assume around 50 Knots based on approach at 1.3 x Vso. If so 50 knots seems high, isn't it supposed to 45 max for the category and if so the approach should be around 60 not 65, but I don't know much about Jabs. Looking at the length of the hold off 65 was certainly fast for the weight, but still a good landing son.David
This is an exert out of the POH -

When her date, a young mechanic (no not me  ), arrived to take her out she was surprised to see a set of jumper leads around his neck with the clips holding up his trousers. "My braces broke," he explained.
She gave the jumper leads a dubious look and said: "Well okay, I will come out with you. But don't start anything."

The mechanic went to the psychiatrist and laid down under the couch.

No same approach speed on both, same height turning final at the same distance on both. You can see from that, that full flap puts you on a much quicker descent, as per the extra power needed.
Had 60ltrs of fuel and myself making a take off weight of about 385kg.
Approach at 65kts - as per POH, (to fast for that weight in my opinion, but I did it just to demonstrate)
I may have held off a bit longer on the first one - it was my first landing for about a month, so was still warming up to it, basically stalled it on. And as you can see, Jab's will float depending on weight and speeds, you could see how students have trouble at first of not ballooning it hey? Patience is the key to success!

Hey thanks for that Davo, bit quicker than the Drifter, not much though!

A couple of circuits in the Jabiru 120 at Dalby before heading to our farm strip. First one was full flap (landing configuration) and second was 1st flap, note glide difference between them both on finals. About a 5 kt crosswind from from the left. Also first one was a slightly powered approach, whereas second was a complete glide. Illustrating the difference between full and only one stage of flap when turning final at similar distance. Also approach angle. I still basically touched down almost where I wanted to on both, 3rd line was the aiming point.

Love the Fisher mk 11, never been in one, but from what I've heard they are pretty good fun!
I fly the 503 wirebraced (learnt in that), best fun ever!
Keep safe, and happy flying!
