"What deal can you do for me ? (breath Breath) asked a mysterious onlooker as she casually moved from out of the shadows.....
..."well there's this weird character from Nanna country" muttered Ahlocks "he flies them aeroplane things too, now that's a bonus, think you not?"

The Stretch has been contemmanipulating of what he should say in nes nearly all day and has come up with absolutely nothing of much philosophical worth to anyone...

Though Planey's skateboard idea has a certain flare to the whole general idea. But I'd have to have someone else use it, 'cause this is the simple ditdo you talking 'bout here, I could break me back on them rampy things. Either my back, or the poor drifter,
now that would be traj 'ic
So if we use 500 horses, and diesel, I was thinking we should stick with the infallible and thoroughly tested 2 strokes
But I don't think the standard 8v/71T even with it's Turbo is gonna do us with 500 horses.... so we may have to resort to the 12v/71T instead which would give us that no worries, specially with 2 superchargers, and 4 turbos...."Now that would be Kewl" said the Bigpete :big_grin:
Our only drama so far is where are we gonna put the fuel tank?
:ah_oh:======
had to patch it up so maketh more better sense since the BeetmetoitPete got in afore me

Pembo, G'day mate, welcome along.
You'd obviously know our legendary Major I guess? ;)

Same here... basically everything is ready, just got to pick up the aircraft on wednesday and pack, ready for a departure on thursday morning.BRING IT ON! Should have a gaggle of half a dozen SE Qld pilots motoring down Thursday Friday- watch out for us , well be the roudy ones!!Roudy is probably an understatement Neil...

Ps. Jack, that to me sounds like a good idea.

...negotiate 500 horses....
===============
Still isn't thinking real excitingly :csm:

.... Decccaa
========
The Stretch hasn't any oomph to write anything exciting this morning...

Indeed, I give what I get... ;) On the pretense of - "What comes in, must go out"...and Tomo loves getting picked on. ;) 'cuz he keeps coming back for more!
:clown:
Ps. Thanks Howard.

Is it a bit hard on your 'own' Ahlocks? I'm sorry, I should ease up a bit shouldn't I??! ;)It's all good! :thumb_up:Giving "The Grin " cheek should be a team sport...

You know, as I wrote that question, I had a suspicion that someone would say something like this......press the remote. Listen for a chirp, then look for the flashing nav lights? :raise_eyebrow:
-
G'day Howard, just noticed you fly the Kingair, how do you find them? I reckon they look like a nice machine.

G'day mate, welcome along....
You won't regret signing up I tell you, best place for friendly people, help, constructive criticism, laughs etc... you get the drift.

G'day Boof (I feel bad adding the Head bit... ) A huge welcome from me, it seems you have a skill in writing.... (I just get carried away, that's my problem, no skill in me what so ever :ah_oh: )
I plan to jump out of an aircraft one day, just for the heck of it. Though my Dad and a lot of others wonder why you would jump out of a perfectly good machine... but I guess that's part of the deal. ;)
RAA is a great way to get in the air at a reasonable costage. You'd love the Drifter! It's got fabric wings... you'd be used to that. And the air, good fun!
It's good to hear your an ace, I've been looking everywhere for one of them...
(pretty lame I know)Ok, nuff about you.... I fly up here in the glorious state (yep, you guessed it - Qld) Got me ticket (gees it's nearly been a yr!) in April I think last year for RAA, learnt in the Drifter, then upgraded to the Jabiru, did me nav's in the Jab... Now I fly what ever I can get my little hands onto. (Diesel fitter by trade... Mobile Mechy)
I'm flying down to Temora next week for the National flyin, or NATFLY. Looking forward to it tremendously, should be good.

Ok, tea is ready, so I'll stop annoying you.... :black_eye:
Ps. Keep us up to scratch on your progress!

Spot on Ossie, exactly what I was thinking, it's amazing how many people don't want to, or can't handle it. And the turning circle difference! My instructor got me to do a lot of slow stuff above stall, it not only is a good thing to know, it helps you understand your aircraft better when landing. Control response is a lot slower, and you need much bigger imputs for the same thing then if you were faster...
Exadias: Indeed, when gliding that's what you do often, and yes HASSEL checks aren't really an issue, I just said it as a precautionary point for others if they are going to practice it for the first time.
-
Hey good stuff guys! Yes Powewin, 5kts mayen't sound much, but it hurts if you need to stop quick. And or if you like keeping your rubber for a bit longer...
Seeing as you got more time than me, you could work out the extra friction to the tyres at a 5kt difference. Just find the resistance factor, considering we use tarmac, and 100% grip at touch down or there abouts.
I better go, my lunch break has nearly gone, gotta get the Johny finished today.

Yep, that is what I was aware of as well.Apply full power, once the tail is flying and airspeed starts to build, aggressively and swiftly pull on full flap. The aircraft will jump off the ground. Once flying, you then reduce to take-off flap and fly away. It is a well known bush pilot short field technique. I have done it many times and it works well on that type of aircraft. -
How many of you practice, or do slow flight? As in, slow right down to basically just above stall and potter around, doing turns and what not.
Great to ensure you are doing balanced flight!
Reason I ask, is because some people you talk to, freak out if you slow down to much.
It's heaps better practicing up high, then 6ft off the ground when landing.
Please ensure you have height when playing around, and do your HASEL checks in case you do something wrong.

Keep it up guys/gals! Very good.
I'll join in when I find some time....

I'm pretty agricultural you might say, but it works....
I've made this thing, put dirt/sand in the bottom, and poor whatever you fancy into it, just enough to soak into the sand to make it moist.
Light it up, and away she will burn, depending how much sand, and how wet you make it as to how long it will last.
Metho burns clean, but doesn't last long, petrol works a treat, kero smokes like a train, etc etc...
The legs screw off, and she'll all pack up, weighing 600grams or so I guess.
Sorry the pic's are shocking quality/light, took it on my phone in the dark, not a good combination.

... trump Et, and noticed the rattletaxs's gunk in the mouth piece. :yuk:
"Ok, who did this?"
"Teehee" giggled Ahlocks, none to quietly and JazzyPete heard it.
"So you are responsible no doubt?"
"Why would you say that sir?" (he's gone very polite)

Just then a commotion broke out, out side. Ditdo quickly jumped up with the others and rushed out to sea... (err see)
What met their eyes was............

Like:Heard a really funny and descriptive name for Golf CK. But it's not for use in polite company..
Cheers!
Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden? :ah_oh:
Did you know Golf is no longer a rich man's sport? There are millions of poor players...

Oh don't get me started, I mayen't stop! :black_eye:

Thanks all for the replies, has been extremely informative.
For those of you who feel like you are "falling" with full flap on, maybe you are leveling out before you get to ground effect, to high?
I noticed the same thing, but I now level out and use ground effect, it works stacks better, you get a lot lower though, and will make your passenger wonder!!
The reason I reckon it does it, is because when you level out, it slows down pretty quick, (with full flap) so if you aren't at the correct level, it will fall quickly, and you'll have to check it quick. But when you just have one stage of flap or none, it will give some lee way as to how high you level out, and just slow and sink a bit slower.
Just a thought?
