  1. On a technically, you should not be draining your system that far. 10.6 v is pretty much 25% left. Most items in a modern caravan will not run below 11.5v like Hot water systems, tvs, fridge control boards etc. 2 panels of 200w and 2 by 120Ah batteries will keep most going satisfactory. It is when they add a few extra batteries on the same charging system, and try to run inverters that it becomes an issue. i have to spend half of my days fixing up these kind of muff ups.
  2. Working in the caravan industry I see this all the time. People are caught up in the hype. If you are an occasional weekend user I cannot see the sense in spending $8k on a complete lithium change for bugger all gain over lead acid batteries that work well if looked after. Some I look after have had batts for over 10 years and still working fine. if a caravan is that close to its weight limit that a 40kg Saving on 2 batteries is the least of its problems. some have even got the idea that lithium and solar replaces their generator to run the AC on and inverter. This is not good for the batteries lifecycle.
  3. Were these the aircraft that had an ordinary spin characteristics as a problem for a while?
  4. The “aviation experts” they had on claimed it was a cirrus on 7 news. regardless a sad day for all involved and their families
  5. Was that a flat.spin? I didn't see any forward motion. Any idea how a commercial aircraft gets in that condition.
  6. John Cadogan (everybody’s favourite internet dude) has just done a video about damaged cells causing fires. how many times do we drop something battery powered without any thought if it works still. i do have extreme drop proof cases on iPads and phones, maybe this helps. i have dropped a lot of tools off jobs at different times, I will be more cautious now
  7. Nice to see some good weather somewhere on the east coast, been a bit ordinary lately down south
  8. I bought tickets in the cirrus and helicopter draws. The promotion on mainstream media and the charity side swayed my decision. would be wishful thinking if any one receives money back.
  9. A mate was staying in a hotel overlooking the take off area only 2 days before. When I showed him this, he showed me the pics and video from his stay. He was fairly shocked at the sight of it.
  10. Couldn't load the video of take-off, But some of the views.
  11. Does this count, wasn't at the controls, but was at the pointy end of an A380 for the best commercial flight I have ever been on. We treated ourselves to business class for a holiday SWMBO won to the Maldives, second part was in A330 which was just as nice. Coolest part though was the twin otter seaplane ride to the island, 40 mins of the best views at 3000ft. Wife didn't like the noise and smells but I was in aviation nirvana 😀
  12. Had the bejeezus scared out of me on final one day, I dropped an inside wing turning final from lack of airspeed. only thing that saved me was a little voice screaming at me in my head don’t use the ailerons, full opposite rudder, I saved it and landed on that go, I don’t think I would have made a circuit from nerves. I then went and grabbed an instructor, told them what happened, discussed the causes and had them com out with me for a confidence building flight. it make you take notice.
  13. On Monday I am having my first A380 flight, looking forward to checking it out. Get a ride in A350 the next day.
  14. Is he capable of thought?
  15. My Cel fi runs best on 3G,I had coverage 99% of the drive from Tamworth to coast. When my phone died new one couldn’t use 3G, signal now poop. New Cel fi is $1400 for 5G model only 18 months after buying last one. 1st one when into my shack and went from no signal to internet on 4 or more devices at same time, it too will be obsolete when signal turned off. makes you sceptical why they can’t just be reprogrammed or reconditioned to work on new signal.
  16. Cessna 40 degree flap go arounds are not easy, even with an instructor sitting next to you, every move has to be thought about. Pretty easy to stuff up. 20 months without flying I need an instructor soon, bloody asic almost due and not even exercised, bfr are out on both RPC and RPL. I need some time, anyone got some spare to sell.
  17. The way some people drive, the last thing they need is a giant rotating sword in front of them.
  18. If they find it is, do they leave it there as a grave like ww2 planes, or try to recover it. I watched a video on History today where they found a us jet that went off a carrier of the Florida coast in the 60s. The cockpit had no visible remains, but the parachute survived. One sailor has come up with footage from the day on a usb now. It clearly shows the damage as it happened, one of the crew’s helmets can be seen in the busted cockpit. His son’s were shown the wreckage and the footage to try and help bring closure.
  19. Is social side changing as well, and will we still all be users swapped over or have to sign up again? this is still my best escape from the daily grind and my only social media that I use.
  20. Reminds me of “Thunderbirds go”
  21. I watched Juan’s video right through, they did a good job in poor conditions.
  22. Meant to pit that on news coment
  23. Maybe on a go around
  24. In more remote places that could be 20 plus houses. I know roads cost a lot to upkeep, but how practical is a machine such as this. I still doubt they could handle storms and bad conditions any better than conventional helos and fixed wing aircraft.
  25. At least they were well prepared for flight over water and it appears to have paid off in surviving. I assume ditching would not have been pleasant even with no wheels down. well done on a good job.
