  1. I have no experience with Apple computers (iPads, et al) so I don't know how they handle spelling. I know they have predictive text and auto correct if turned on. But if you use a Windows PC, any spelling error will be underlined with a wriggly red line. Right click on the word, and the correct spelling, or a set of alternatives will be displayed. Click on the one you want and it will replace the misspelt word. The only words it cannot correct are some brand names and non-English words. You can choose to use UK or US or Australian English as you see fit. A quick proof read before hitting Post Reply will locate any errors.

  2. I learnt GA - before RAAus etc. I had a TIF with one school, and didn't have anything against them, but saw an advert for another school on the same airport that had a fleet of 4 or 5 two seat trainers and three slightly larger 4 seat models of the same basic design to step up to, as well as a Victa Airtourer thrown in for good measure They also had larger faster retractables which could be used for both hire and commercial charter. The point of the advert was that they had a concentrated 3 week course running six days per week (one day for rest). They also had a charter division with various size twins. Most have probably guessed the aircraft were Beech B-19 Sport, B-23 Musketeer and Bonanza. They also had a number of instructors so I never knew who I would get till I turned up. Before I finished, they changed their fleet to Piper Warriors, Arrows, Cherokee 6 and Seneca. The school of course was Civil Flying School. I have no idea how things would have been with Schutt's or Royal Vic Aero Club.

  3. That's the guy. Helped me more than I can say when I was in hospital, going through a few problems. Only ever met him face to face once at Tulla, and I knew he was stepping away for a while. If you happen to get in touch with him, let him know red750 sends him the best, and misses the regular online chats we had. I hope he is on the mend and will be back to his old self again soon.

  4. As an example of their range, this is the list of chargers for Panasonic cameras and only covers the models starting with A. See the size of the slider indicating the length of the list.I had to reduce the font size considerably to get the list this long.

  5. You can delete this if you like Mods, but I've checked and I am pretty sure it doesn't conflict with anything on Clear Prop.

I have found a supplier of batteries and chargers who beat the prices of anyone else I have seen. They also stock printer inks, toner cartridges and power banks.

As an example, their price for a battery for a GoPro Hero3 Black Edition is $16.55, and the charger is $19.10 and includes a wall and car adapter.

From numerous testimonials I have read, they have a great reputation for terrific service. One example was an order placed by 1.00pm delivered before 10am the next morning. One report of a delivery from their warehouse in Flemington Vic to a farm roadside mailbox in WA in 3 days.

The retail price for the battery for my Panasonic Lumix camera is over $50, this company's price was $19-97, and the charger was $19-10. Purchase 2 items or more and postage anywhere in Australia is free.

Their name is Better Batt, and their website is Better Batt - Batteries and Chargers - 400 Day Money Back Guarantee. They carry an enormous range of batteries and chargers for phones, cameras, laptops, games consoles, etc. for most brands with the exception of Apple.

Oh, and they are an Australian owned company.

  6. Report out of US about a forced night landing on a freeway offramp by a Beech Debonair following an engine failure. The plane landed safely and the occupants exited uninjured. The video shows the G33 on the road with emergency vehicles around. The vision then changed to a C152 inverted on a beach in daylight, with no supporting report of that incident.

  7. Here's something a little different for aviation porn. My daughter recently went with a former school friend and her four year old son to a Lego display here in Melbourne, where she took a large number of photos. Here are half a dozen aviation ones, with amazing detail. Enlarge the cut-away Jetstar Star Wars 767 interior, and note all the Star Wars characters, including the Stormtroopers in economy.

  8. Modified from the civilian Beech Model 36 Bonanza under the Pave Eagle II program, the 27 QU-22Bs delivered to the U.S. Air Force contained several changes for military service. The QU-22B carried a large generator above the engine to power its electronic equipment and additional fuel in extended wing tip tanks for increased range. Its remote control equipment allowed the QU-22B to be flown directly by an onboard pilot or as an unmanned drone.

  9. I learned GA at Moorabbin which had a training area down the Mornington Peninsula. There was a low flying area between Carrum Downs and Cranbourne, mainly farmland in those days. Most instructors would go down to about 250 ft, but I had one, an ex BOAC pilot, who took me down to fencetop height. You could clearly see the dandelions in the grass. Driving between Dandenong and Frankston, you would often see aircraft just above treetop height.
