They survived Phil; I would expect repercussions from CASA.
This is the thread which related to the crash:

It's the brevity of the Preliminary Report and what's coming next that's of most concern to many people Phil.

For those who might be swayed by some with an agenda to rebuild RAA from an Incorporated Association intro a non profit public Company by guarantee, have a read of this link relating to the Australian Warbirds.
There's almost a parallel set of problems in its management, and it shows that it is far more important to get the people right than to manufacture a structure and assume this will fix the issues.
Of the two sets of problems in the two different structures I'd hazard a guess that AWAL as a Company is costing its members a heap more than RAA

ATSB Reference: AO-2011-126ATSB lists the accidents they are investigating on their website and this accident isn't listed so I don't think they are investigating it.Date of accident: October 1, 2011
Preliminary Report released: 29/11/2011

....do grace [bitchslap] to nana's [old] wrinkled [dislike] radish [useful].....
Turbo requests a longer list so he can just click on icons, but the bitch slap must be included.

In all seriousness, I can see problems subjecting contributors to grading and "bitch slaps" from spectators who don't contribute.
A lot of people struggle to write a post, overcoming shyness, embarrassment at their spelling etc. but nevertheless write a good post, of use to many others.
With just the "likes" system they would get a pleasant surprise and positive encouragement to write more and the website came alive.
Once you start subjecting these people to "bitch slaps" and dislikes etc. the contributions are going to dry up, and they will withdraw to become spectators, possibly administering a few bitch slaps of their own.

Sorry, I said "posts", should have said "threads", and they must be nearly a year old by now - scary stuffOK got it now. Once a thread starts wandering (as they always do) I lose interest.......For example this thread includes endless discussion on the genius idea of deliberately stalling your a/c and ''floating'' down to your crash site HAHAHAAnd then endless posts on Cert 4 training blah blah blah
No wonder I missed it.....
-
Maybe you missed the relevant posts; worth having a hunt for them and you'd get the idea.I don't understand why the atsb would investigate??? -
I'm only going to post fairy stories for wankers, so I'm not affected Andy; you have to adapt to the audience which will develop.

Too late, First post I saw was my own and I decided to 'like" it and get the $5.00 but your system prevented me from entering a comment, so I had to give it to myself for free on the grounds that I believed I had made best effort to click on "like" as I claimed.

Do you teach your students to pick a runway not on the basis of which way the wind's blowing or which runway is in use, but because it was the runway you used last time you were there?
-
If CASA are controlling the throttle Andy, as in moving the goalposts, they have stepped on a mine. However, if they have conducted proper audits against contractual obligations, and found faults, then RAA is required to set the pace in fixing the situation, as in grounding aircraft immediately until they comply. If you are implying there is some sort of sweetheart deal going on along the lines of we'll let you continue to default provided you fix it this fast, they can't do that.
RAA have failed audits, and virtually No 1 job at present is to bring RAA back into compliance, not spend months, possibly years trying to create a different RAA structure.
-
Yes they are investigating.
-
Which uninformed, unenlightened theory is this?

Phil,
In GA, ATSB investigates accidents, but in recent years has tapered down due to cost and now quite often decides not to investigate. For example there have been several aerobatic fatals involving pilots of the highest standard, where ATSB have said they will not investigate.
In RA, incidents are reported to RAA, and fatal crashes are investigated by State and Territory Police who prepare reports geared for the State Coroner and do not release them to the public. At times they call on RAA for some technical advice, but RAA have no control. Infrequently, such as the case of the notorious Ferris Wheel crash, ATSB may decide to investigate an RA crash.
-
But CAN you be reasonably confident?
Where is the transparent information that defines what the issues were, what action was needed to fix them, what action was needed to ensure they ceased, and what the timelines are.
I certainly can't, and I'm in direct and formal contact with CASA.

Management and Governance Committee member? That's what you've got now AR!
They don't represent what the Members want.
They decided to get involved with LSA and didn't follow representative procedures.
What you see now is the result of appointing people and leaving them to their own devices for YEARS, just so "What I do want is to be able to renew my membership and aircraft registration easily, quickly and inexpensively." which has been echoed by lazy members again and again and again.
If there had been competition at election time and an effort put in by Members to seek out people with the skills and expertise you correctly espouse, even as representatives the goals you seek would have been achieved.
Best to fix the square pegs in round holes.
When I think over the dozens of threads, and maybe thousands of posts, I'm amazed that so few people have addressed the issues faced by RAA - less than 10 issues which need to be fixed quickly, starting with resolving the CASA Audit failures.
I'm amazed that so many people can't grasp that there's a simple job to do, which can be done within the existing structure, and in a methodical way.

Well that certainly got the conversation going didn't it.
-
You grannies should try a big aircraft like a Jabiru and see how you like it. It's got a proper nosewheel too rather than a trolley castor at the back.
-
You're doing well, the pain and suffering goes.

And that is what has to be addressed. Most of the thousands of posts have missed this key requirement
