  1. ACMA are dealing with it now. As posted earlier (the link) the site is in breach of the rules. I have tried to opt out and it doesn't seem to work. I posted what I got back when I tried to e-mail them.
  2. Yeah, Bill, but now they "have you". You will be unable to stop them arriving now. A bit like Micky Mouse in Fantasia with the broom sticks and the water buckets. I have been where you are now. I had enough and thought I had myself removed from their database. I was wrong. So: Anyone wanting to indluge them with your details, beware that once they have them, they won't stop sending you stuff.
  3. The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown' Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected] Action: failed Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure) Remote-MTA: dns; [203.132.28.12] Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown' (delivery attempts: 0) Kinda kills that idea doesn't it.
  4. Yeah Skeptic, but I am warning other people to save them the annoyance of actually being "sucked in to that situation".
  5. OME, it is a site - aeroclub.com.au - who suck you in and then annoy you. The site is not maintained, there is no CONTACT details. Unless you are a MEMBER you can't send e-mails. They do NOT remove you from their mailing list when you explisitly tell them to. I have learned that they are in breach of an ACMA rule - http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_310369 And I would advise you to avoid them like the plague.
  6. Folks, Sorry if this sounds un-friendly but it is beyond a joke. A LONG LONG time ago I joined and had all sorts of trouble JOINING. After all that stuff, I stayed with them for a while. Then I decided to leave. I "unsubscribed" from them and I thought all was good. I wasn't getting e-mails from them. Now, suddenly, I am getting them again, and when I try to send an e-mail to them, it comes back "unknown user". There are NO contact details on the site or means to get off their list. If "you" are thinking of joing them, I would strongly urge you not to as the site is poorly maintained - from experiance - and I have spoken to others who say they have tried many times to get events listed and fail to. So really it is not a very good site.
  7. Howard, What's that saying about flying at night...... "If you don't like what you see, turn the lights off" or something like that.
  8. Folks, They are OLD - 1991, 2 and 4 - but I have "found" some EAA magazines from that time. Some/most are un-opened. I live in Sydney. Anyone?
  9. I was once in Paris, and decided to jump in the river. Someone advised me not to, as I would be in sane.
  10. Which is a segway to: Why did God only make one Yogie Bear? Coz the second time he made a Boo Boo.
  11. Ah. She seem to be a bit of a looker. ;-P She definitly has interesting assets. X-)
  12. Skeptic, So of whom is that photo?
  13. Yeah. I know. It is just that RIGHT NOW, my world is........ "non existant". I don't know how I am dealing with it and just hope that it "works" and I get out of it no worse than I am now.
  14. Turbo, in answer to your question: Mine. :( Most of the time.
  15. And I should probably learn to spell. It should be CLEVER dogs. Ah well.....
  16. Yeah, gotta love windoze and things when they don't like .PNG files. Try again with original post.
  17. Gee, these are smart dogs!
  18. you lost me. But as you mentioned cows: (Sorry can't read.) If cows helped the crows, I am sure the end result wouldn't be much better. Cows are slow animals. If they saw a truck or car coming I am sure the crow would still be killed as the cow would only have time to say: "Mooooo" and not get the "ve" before the crow would be hit by what every vehicle.
  19. Crow Mortality-rate Study A recent study has found over 200 dead crows near Ceduna South Australia., and there was concern that they may have died from the Avian Flu virus. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and he confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu, to everyone's relief. However, he was also able to determine that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with large trucks, and only 2% were killed by car impact. The State hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine the disproportionate percentages for the large truck versus car kills. The Ornithological Behaviourist determined the cause in short order. When crows eat road kill, they always set up another crow as a lookout in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. His conclusion was that the lookout crow could say "Cah", …………….but he could not say "Truck."
  20. GREEN with envy.
  21. In a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the Mystic delivered grave news: "There's no easy way to tell you this, so I'll just be blunt. Prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year." Visibly shaken, Laura stared at the woman's lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her hands. She took a few deep breaths to compose herself and to stop her mind racing. She simply had to know. She met the Fortune Teller's gaze, steadied her voice and asked, "Will I be acquitted?" For some reason, wives tend to like this joke........
  22. I agree Phil. 100%. But, as I said, it is more to do with LIFE{} than flying. And I can't stop myself doing just that: Dissecting thing into infinitly small details. It kinda sucks, and can get depressing very fast. Oh well. "That's life". But thanks all the same.
  23. Hey Phil. Thanks for the info. It is good reading. My REAL question was more to do with LIFE{} than flying. I asked here as I am more o fey with SOME of the terms so I can better express myself than in plane (no pun intended) lingo. I am going through a rough time/stage and am re-writing a lot of the "rules" and gee it is confusing/difficult when you are really working at the absolute bottom levels of the rules. I can't generalise with things as I am really REALLY re-writing from the ground up most of my rules. Someone else mentioned this - and I'll put it here - as to the foundation of behaviour: I have offered someone my assistance. If they need help: Take a step back, and look at it from a third person's perspective. Do what is needed and appropriate for the situation. Not more, not less. That is a good starting point. Of course, what is "appropriate" is - I guess - ambiguous, but I now have a base line. I guess a lot of what was taught to become a pilot is applicable: Act professionally. Take control. Be responsible. By taking control, that is to say take control of the situation, NOT the person. I am also stuck with the other side of the coin, as in when to ask for help/"declare an emergency"/"Pan Pan" situation. Because as bad as it can be "crying wolf" when flying, it is worse in LIFE{}.
  24. Yeah, I shall have to call that number then and ask. It was just I couldn't find it and had to look in an OLD ERSA to get the details and wasn't sure if the phone number was still valid. Thanks.
  25. Thanks. Don't know how I missed that. I like 13.4: Except when operating on preferred scenic routes, pilots are requested to maintain a minimum altitude of 2000 ft above the surface of the park. PREFERRED SCENIC ROUTES....... And are "we" allowed to fly those PREFERRED routes? Where are they listed?
