  2. Hmm. Ugly and the most boring name ever. Wonder why it wasn't a hit?!
  3. Yep, experimental Otter. This article explains. https://torontoaviationheritage.ca/dehavilland-canada-stol/#!
  4. Update - looks like it happened during tow https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-29/tas-glider-crash-was-during-launch-phase/106184430
  5. Passenger killed, pilot seriously injured. Not much more detail yet. Tasmanian woman dies in glider crash at Tunbridge, pilot airlifted to Royal Hobart Hospital - ABC News WWW.ABC.NET.AU A woman has died and a man has been taken to hospital following a glider crash at a private airfield in Tasmania.
  6. Well, not ALL the problems... It ditches valves, most of the gearbox, has lower torque twist and vibration. Plus the presenter kept it interesting. Not sure how many pilots would want to fly behind a Knob though. Someone didn't do their "does this name mean something rude in English" check.
  7. I like it. Seems like less to go wrong.
  8. Garmin Emergency Autoland deployed for the first time | Flightradar24 Blog WWW.FLIGHTRADAR24.COM Garmin autoland was deployed for the first time in an emergency, safely landing Beech B200 Super King Air N479BR in Denver. Details a bit thin, but apparently it worked - good to see
  9. Thought it may have been "Das Ugly Stik" - older RC builders may remember that plane
  10. It would be worth getting one of those just to be able to say "I fly an F-15"
  11. They're just unnatural. Never seen a bird with a tail at the front.
  12. For example Tail end of a winged keel (ie 1.5m of 100mm uPVC filled with FCR) I made for a homemade sailboat competition last year. Whole thing has warped sideways as well as the "wings" now warped.
  13. PLA is extruded around 190-230 degrees (I use 200) and I've seen printed products left outside warp from normal sunlight. Definitely wouldn't be using anything made of PLA in a warm place. Even dishwasher parts at 60% infill warp in heat and pressure.
  14. Lucky the rego on the bottom one doesn't end in an H
  15. He might be a useful bloke to hold on to in the event of a "water landing".
  16. What if the drone is big enough to carry a person, and the operator is sitting in the drone and controlling its flight with the same controls as he would use from the ground? Is he then a pilot only when in the drone and ceases to be one when on the ground? I think it's a fringe argument. Who cares?
  17. What I don't understand is why Qantas and Virgin Australia weren't affected? Virgin perhaps because they only have 5 in fleet (according to their website which may be out of date), but Qantas has A319s, A320s and A321XLRs, but it's only Jetstar on the news.
  18. That's what I first thought too when I saw the drawing.
  19. On the positive side, if he filled it with those styrofoam beads just like a normal Amazon package, it'd be pretty safe in a crash!
  20. Love the struts. She'd certainly make a unique sound in the air.
  21. Contra rotating props? Seems like a difficult solution.
  22. Looks fantastic! Well done.
  23. After dragging the plane in and out of the shed a few times, I decided to construct a tow bar to make the process a bit easier. Bent it up out of some 0.064" scrap, attached an old Bunnings table leg to it and put a cross piece on the end. I thought it may have been too short, but just tested it and it works a treat. Because it slides over the axle just inside the fork, it's easy to turn the plane too.
