    Had to have turn around the block, 40C on the ground, 22C at 5500'. Thought it might have been a bit cooler aloft. Smooth as silk but angry looking clouds out west. A few lumps (not real turbulence) as I got down near circuit height. Unusually few aircraft in the air - Christmas shopping?? Managed a few touch & goes - all good. Bit warm, called it a day at 1.1 Hobbs😈

    Maate! I love vans (as long as diesel engine/manual gearbox/rear wheel drive.) In 50+ years of driving I have had one breakdown, in my first car ( inherited an issue from previous owners) and 3 in company trucks - lack of adequate servicing. Had a roo take out a tail light, but never hit any mammal (very occasionally a bird). You are either the unluckiest owner or skimp on maintenance. 😈

    Anyone checked out the "FLY'N FOR FUN 2026" page 80. "Bring some polish and get to show off your wings with other aviators or curious victors...." As some of you may recall I thinks Parkes is about the worst airport to host an RAA event. Nothing against Parkes itself, just that its a Security Controlled Airport - ASIC required and definitely no "curious visitors" on the flight line. RAA events of this nature should be; About educating (recruiting) the public -in part this is means access to the flight line -not possible at Parkes or similar Security Controlled Airports Showing off your aircraft (if you wish) - other than a passing pilot/ passenger - not going to happen. Open to all pilots, no ASIC required. Sure they had a sort of, semi functional, estcourt service at the last event but the fact remains ASIC requirement likly to put some off. Controlled ie have a UNICOM. Last year saw aircraft in opposite circuits & landing direction - crazy! Ground stewards: There were arriving aircraft parking attendants, on the day I was there but not in evidence, when departure time came around - chaos! What was wrong with Narromine and Temora???? 😈

    I would be happy if they reduced my membership fee and didnt deliver this crap product. With the notable exception of the RAA staff advisory submissions, for the most part the rest, writen by the editor, is a trash magazine😈

    FOLLOW UP My SK2 is now mounted in its own (home design) mount, just off center on the glare shield. No more clicking/inference sound in headset. No more suction pad sudden loss & SK2 dropping into foot well. Position gives SK2 optimum "view" and has very little impact on my view. SK2 now on constant charge from in panel aircraft USB, through Cygnett Unite Right Angle Lightning to USB-C cable .     Despite the advocates of spend big = quality, bleating on about future dangers etc, I advocate doing the best research analyses you can ie cost : benefit. With an experimental aircraft, you have great freedom and with it responsibility, to do the right thing (whatever that means for a given project). E.G. You can easily make a flexible transponder antenna for the cost of connector, some multi strand copper wire, solder and shrink tube, at a guess $5 all up. IF your Chinese coax will do the job, to an airworth (transmit & receive) standard - go for it. Spending x 10 will not make the system more efficient or have any implications on safety.😈

    Random thought; Given that the "melted" part was designed to conduct cool/external air and cooled by the same, the undercowl temperature of this aircraft must have been extreem to overcome the cooling effect of the fresh air. 😈

    I think you might need to qualify this statement with - (VH) only applies to experimental/home built. As far as I am aware VH pilot/owner maintenance of certified aircraft is limited to a few routine activates eg oil change. I don't know how this translates for factory built (non certified) aircraft.😈

    So I am correct - all this rabbit hole talk of aircraft registration, in relation to CTA entry, has no substance. The principal factor, for entry to CTA, is the appropriate & current qualifications of the PIC. Thanks for clearing that up. 😈

    I'm confused. To enter CTA, subject to the aircraft having the required transponder/transceiver and the pilot having a CTA endorsement, what relevance does the registration of the aircraft have?😈

    I have ordered the necessary (I hope) Bluetooth connecting device - will wait until it arrives before accessing the 4 month trial, if still available.😈
