Sounds fantastic; welcome Hans!

What struck me was no matter how crazy risky an activity is after an accident the first reaction seems to be to question the equipment or other external factors.

They seem to have caused an Australia wide glut of used cars currently for sale also.

Crows are tasty.
In China they would eat them, just like baby sparrows are a delicacy.
-
Nope they're fine, I think just the whining and carping has died down.
-
Other way around I reckon. In many ways babies & tots are super tough.1 and 3 year olds do not have properly formed skull bone and even a minor "walk away" incident for you from an engine out etc. could be fatal for them.Good stuff Con, I haven't taken any younger than 4 so I can't offer any helpful suggestions other than maybe a portable DVD player or some other distraction.

Nope, only bodies in the grave not people - their spirits have checked out (after this the judgement - Hebrews 9v27).None of us are getting out of this alive. Graveyards are full of indispensable people. Nev -
I read they were initially too high and lateral alignment was also off, if so I doubt the auto throttle contributed much to that...

Yeah, 170 is better overall IMO - with a couple of hefty Gnu's on a warm day the extra climb rate of the longer wing is nice & there doesn't seem to be much if any trade off in cruise speed.

Not to go further OT but just to point out that in Australia Council rate payment is optional as it is not legally enforceable - but yeah in reality we have no option but pay their illegal charges. The courts have determined that rates are a tax and under our constitution only the federal government has the right to tax us via the ATO; Councils are not a (federal) constitutionally recognised body so have no authority to collect tax. Just remember this when they shove a related referendum question at you later this year.

Yeah, I can't get them to do much like that. Try some power, maybe some flap and a decent nose-up attitude then chuck in a turn.... (with instructor of course - an agreeable instructor). Skidding turn if you need a clearer demo.I found the stalls anti climatic as well.. Then when u move the stick forward, you pull out.. Perhaps its because the jab's are pretty forgiving in a stall? -
Hey Nobody why is the NTSB releasing information in small bursts (including parts of interviews with the pilots) well before they have concluded their investigation? Is this normal practise?
Also I read the SFO ILS system wasn't working at the time, I wonder if is it possible some of the big metal pilots may become a bit dependant upon this system rather than looking outside a bit? (Not speculating about this accident, just a question for those here that use ILS)

Hello Tiger, yes the claim at the time by the board members that bailed was "due to lack of insurance cover" yet a senior RAAus person told me that this was in fact not the case & the board was always covered. So our information / understanding conflicts; I don't know what the email you mentioned said.Your idea of some getting there then "bailing out" would seem to be a little over the top, especially in one case last year when the President sent a personal email to all board members telling them they had no insurance protection for board members and said he would understand if they resigned. -
True. BTW I'm definitely not advocating vfr pilots fly about in semi-darkness...

Kussy my best guess would be a small number of very vocal whiners and agitators. A couple of these even got voted into office some time back and turned out to be duds, they promptly bailed out a few months after the election achieving nothing but wasting everyone's time. Others opinions will differ of course, especially the vocalists!

Can't find the article now, might have been terrain through fog they were showing. Certainly things like trees & runway showed up well.

Au contraire it appeared to show most things quite well in the article I saw, haven't seen it in operation of course. And nothing like the old night vision goggles Daz.sadly just not trees. -
Or if you like to live on the edge & push last light for $4,000 you can get a FLIR video camera for your aircraft - see in the dark, through cloud, fog etc.

Until now CASA did nothing. The organisation should be immediately dissolved for failure to act on actual safety issues. Possibly the senior staff should be charged or at least personally sued. Wonder if they will cover this?
-
Well silly me, I'm so daft reading #27 I seem to have confused the Jab motor with a hand grenade. Or was that you?if you're too daft to admit that there are problems with a possibly good product like the Jabiru then that is your problem mate not mine. -
Sure you are. Jabiru has a huge fan in DavidI'm a Jabiru fan

Please don't compare RaAus to Australian universities, they are mostly full of dolts. The only surprise is that you were surprised to find they are retarded and more interested in parking than serious issues.

Nah, don't like motorbikes at all. I used to ride a unicycle though, but I'm not sure that would be so relevant to your poll....
