  1. I'm not sure about Majors Creek to Moruya, it is very rugged, I have been that way once and asked myself "what am I doing here? This is scarey" less scarey (a bit less scarey) is Braidwood to Batemans Bay then down the coast.

  3. Weipa is 8 til 6 Mon to Fri. Coen is daylight with 2h prior notice. A friend was fuel constrained so he took some bladders and refuelled at one of the local strips (rated for RFDS) without leaving airside.
  4. I was of the understanding that Skip has a working (?) Mode S Trig transponder with an ADSB-Out capability as well as an SE2. There is some ADSB reception and some MLAT but we dont know the source - Trig or SE2. There is also a callsigns of 1200, 19-2041 and 2041 in the mix. The only way to remove this is to turn off the transmit function of SE2 so that there is only one source of ADSB info being captured.

There is a CASA Publication AC 91-23 about ADS-B https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-08/advisory-circular-91-23-ads-b-enhancing-situational-awareness.pdf That is worth a read. A o g other things it says you can run a transponder and an ADSB-Out at the same time but only if there is only one GPS positional source. So if you have mode S transponder with an a time ASDB-Out source you can't run an SE2 transmitting ADSB-Out info. I would chat to the RAAus Techman as well.

If your mode S transponder is transmitting ADSB (ADSB-Out) you need to disable the SE2 transmit function. 3. Maybe you should go flying with the SE2 turned off - no output or input - to see what ATC, Flight Aware and FR24 see you as, without SE2 interfering. 4. Even though the SE2 transmit function should be disabled when the Smode transponder is transmitting ADSB-out you should set up the SE2 with the Hex code the same your transponder Hex code 7CBC63, your rego R2041 (drop the "19-" and add an "R" for recreational) and "1200" as the default sqark code - you dont need to change this as ATC ignores EC devices like SE2.   9. Quite a few aircraft in the training area DON'T have ADSB Out as it is expensive to add and most of the old GA trainers have old Mode A, C or S with no provision to upgrade to ADSB Out. The owners may upgrade when their current transponder dies or ADSB Out is mandated - ADSB Out isn't mandated for Day VFR or RAAus (yet). Aircraft without ADSB Out are captured to FR24 (and others) by MLAT (or other tech)
  10. Was the FR24 enemy on ADSB-Out or MLAT (a construct by FR24 and others) - which uses transponder bounces to generate AC position info. Almost all GA have transponders but not all GA have ADSB out or EC. (nor need to have - unless they are IFR)
  11. The problem with Parkes, and a lot of country strips, is the distance from civilisation fx. It is 6.2 km from the Parks Airport to Maccas by foot. While the Narromine Golf restaurant is a bit ordinary, it is only a short (1.6 Km) walk to the airport. The Narromine Caravan park, with cabins, is pretty good and next door to the airport. I've been into Parkes a couple of times and my attempts to visit HARS Parkes have been washouts. If nothing else Narromine lies almost on the midpoint of the track between Brisbane and Melbourne. And equidistant from Sydney or Canberra Wellington,almost, lies on the midpoint of the direct track between Brisbane and Melbourne
  12. DHL hands over my parcels to AP for delivery to my PO box. There are others who handoff to AP. There are some jerks inside Telstra who will only send to the Telstra service address (jerks). It is not rocket science but some companies are either stupid or wilfully stupid. It doesn't take much to send to PO boxes (or put the delivery behind the 3rd potplant to the left in full view of the front door but not the street) Locally, we are getting a rash of Uber, Deliveroo, door dash etc food delivery people delivering to the TOTALLY wrong address taking a photo and forgetting where they left the stuff. The UK Passport office was smart enough to work out where the closest secure boxes were to us (in Oz) and then contacted us with instructions on how to get the passport from the locked box at 7/11.
