The Recreational Aviation Australia Board Elections are coming up with nominations closing at 4:00pm EST on Friday 30th May 2008.
Board members are elected for a 2 year term with vacancies in this election being for South Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Northern territory and North Queensland.
It is very much encouraged that any RA-Aus member who feels that they can contribute to the Association to stand for one of the vacancies.
It is your association, run by ourselves, on behalf of all RA-Aus members and without the dedication by individual members in contributing to our Association as a board member, our Association would never have achieved the greatness that it is today in the membership numbers, the flying freedoms that we all have and the help and support that is available to us by the RA-Aus office.
Further details on being a RA-Aus Board Member are available in the April edition of the RA-Aus magazine.

So how do you forecastIanattached is adequate information for you to build an accurate TAF machine.I used this in a flying club in Ireland for many years and can vouch for its accuracy.
Since importing it it has been modified (LAME) for southern hemisphere but is still in UTC so you will have to correct for that

Look at the rego! It is RA registered!!JR:laugh:

Thanks Cap't but you have to pay on that site to get the 28day forcast

Hi All
It has been planned for builders to come in and build a new roof on my house but naturally they have to remove the existing one first. They are planning to do this on Wed through to Sat of next week i.e. the 28th to 31st of May.
Anyone care to look into their crystal ball and say what the weather will be like in Melbourne at this time

-
For memory Cap't about 6 to 8 inches. I didn't meet the test pilot on prototype 1 but the test pilot on prototype 2 was about 5ft 10in and shown in these pictures:

It is very hard to know exacts until I get my own one here and I can start quoting accurate figures on what I am getting and experiencing. Luisa and Curzio have been very busy with their normal working duties whilst also gearing up for the manufacturer of the Master - Luisa is travelling all around Europe and the UK etc promoting the Cheese and wines of the Torino region and Curzio runs the Carbon Fibre factory making amongst other things carbon Fibre parts for other European aircraft manufacturers.
I am hoping to get some good news on when mine will start in the coming days.

I have gone from XP Pro over to Vista Ultimate for a few weeks now and whilst I like the prettiness of Vista I don't like the changes made in Windows Explorer - there is no need to have the extra folders of Desktop, App Data, Favourites etc taking up valuable screen real estate - also it doesn't seem to save all folder views to one simple one.
The other thing I don't like is the selecting of files in the file browser - it's all over the place also there seems to be a lot happening behind the scenes automatically like defrag etc that I am going to have to look at working out
Other then that Vista is very refreshing and impressive with animations etc like my wallpaper isn't a static picture any more but actually a movie playing - must download the Millennium Master movie and have that playing as my desktop. I use a fantastic monitor - a Samsung 22" widescreen (the special S Panel one) with a 2ms refresh rate and a contrast of 3,000:1 which gives a magnificent view of Vista's capabilities.

The pedals are adjustable back and forward but as far as the max height of a person I am unsure at this stage - crikey I am still waiting to find out when my own demo one is ready to be built. I am 6ft and when I sat in it I had heaps of leg room.
Hope this helps!

If you want one of these then I can get a price on it for you from WicksThanks for the input..Like Jetjr I too found the Facet Fuel-it the problem is that to me it is to slow for the application but then Rocko has a valid point the faster the flow the more static.Ians soulution is good but I'm not into Gym work not lazy just wise.
The Facet fuel it is approx $120 aud at the moment from aircraft spruce in the US. no cost on freight or could not get one.

I use a guy named Lachlan at I. H. Hunter who are customs agents and forwarding agents.
He can organise everything including the pickup, transport to the docks, loading, shipping, clearing and final delivery to yourself.
If you are interested his phone number is 03 9330-2033 and tell him Ian Baker from Recreational Flying gave you his number.
He handles all the shop's shipping and clearing and will be handling all the shipping of the Millennium Master to Australia when it is ready.
Disclaimer: He is simply the person that I use

I use 20 litre plastic jerry cans that have a plastic nozzel plus a little 2 step ladder and simply pour the fuel in - it's all plastic.
I know a lot of people just place their 20 litre plastic jerry can on top of the wing and use one of these Syphon Mates - you just place one end in the plastic drum, the other in the fuel tank and just jiggle the Syphon mate and it starts flowing - seeing many others do this is the reason why I sourced them for the shop.

I have tried to stay out of this due to advertising but as the shop pays to keep these forums available free to you all have you thought about one of these:

The Gold Coast Sports Flying Club, Heck Field, Jacob's Well, we would like to invite you and those around you that may be interested, to a CASA presentation that is being held on Saturday the 31st of May. Safety topics to be covered are operations at non-towered aerodromes and situational awareness, areas that we all need to be familiar with. The seminar will start at 11:30 am and will be presented by a number of aviation safety advisors including Charles Galea. Mike Poole, the Recreational Aviation Australia Operations Manager is also planning to attend subject to the vagaries of his position.
For those who are driving, the venue is located at 1638 Jacob's Well Road and for flyers, Heck Field is situated just south of the Jacob's Well (JCW) VOR and is displayed on both the Brisbane and Gold Coast VTCs. Runways directions are 10/28 and 18/36. On the Sunday there will also be a get together and BBQ commencing at 9:30 am. If you are thinking of coming (on either day) or for further details, please contact the club president, Peter Johnstone on 0430 466 288 or [email protected] . The clubs website, containing some aerodrome information is www.gcsfc.org.au . While I realise that many may not be able to make the journey due to distance or other commitments please pass the message on those who can.

UTSKY
This thing is a monster air machine
The world's largest helicopter. It is to be used for taking mining equipment and cargo out to a new mine called Galore Creek. It is owned by a Russian company and it is called the Utsky. Apparently this chopper's wash will pick up and fling rocks, up to 12 inches in diameter, around like leaves.
Some stats:
- Russian crew of 6,
2 Pilots,
1 Navigator,
2 Engineers [mechanics]
1 cargo person
- a semi-trailer will fit in it.
- carries 75 troops
- uses 2000 litres of fuel per hour
- 580 km range
- costs $30,000/hr to rent
- 40 metres long
- 8 blades about 2 feet wide
This makes a 'Sky Crane' look like a mosquito by comparison.

Geoff
Remember this thread that had nothing to do with aviation:
Warning to all men - Recreational Flying
but was what I was doing at home for the kids - putting the pools in?
Well here are some pictures that I have just taken this morning - the workmen are hard at it putting the building up over the spa and swim spa. In 3 weeks the builders start pulling the entire roof off the house and putting a truss roof on and building in the veranda to make a huge family/rumpus room.
I will then be having a HUGE party for any forum member that wants to come along, have a swim, spa, a sauna, drinks, barby etc so stay tuned for that one.
Yes Geoff, 1,888 members is a great achievement and remember our goal for this year was 2,500 so we are well on our way and if only 1% of them get some form of safety advice or can fix a maintenance problem etc - then putting up with the politics is ALL worth it

It was so ugly the ground repelled itDude ...... wheres my chopper ? :hittinghead:

You and me both ArnaudTerribly sorry to barge in...but it is the only way I found to talk to the Clear Prop Shop Manager. It is the second time I'm trying to purchase an item from the shop and after approx. one hour of trying to get there I had to give up.I am still OK with flying but I'm getting too old for this e-commerce !
Arnaud

I really need to redo the entire software for the shop as other people also have trouble with it at times - on the to do list but the shop is really only a support mechanism to keep this site free and with me needing to spend so much time here I don't get time for anything else - even flying anymore - what exactly were you after and I can do it manually - and thanks!
