I guess you realise that by now, there are another 16 very unhappy Sport Pilot members, who are going to have a devastating Christmas, without their copy of the mag?? 😄

Wow! A real windfall IF it wasn't such a rubbish product.😈

Funny. I was thinking how much I’ve enjoyed this latest issue. Each to their own, I guess.

I would be happy if they reduced my membership fee and didnt deliver this crap product.

With the notable exception of the RAA staff advisory submissions,  for the most part the rest, writen by the editor, is a trash magazine😈

Anyone checked out the "FLY'N FOR FUN 2026" page 80.

"Bring some polish and get to show off your wings with other aviators or curious victors...."

As some of you may recall I thinks Parkes is about the worst airport to host an RAA event. Nothing against Parkes itself, just that its a Security Controlled Airport  - ASIC required and definitely no "curious visitors" on the flight line.

RAA events of this nature should be;

  • About educating (recruiting) the public -in part this is means access to the flight line -not possible at Parkes or similar Security Controlled Airports
  • Showing off your aircraft (if you wish) - other than a passing pilot/ passenger - not going to happen.
  • Open to all pilots, no ASIC required. Sure they had a sort of, semi functional,  estcourt service at the last event but the fact remains ASIC requirement likly to put some off.
  • Controlled ie have a UNICOM. Last year saw aircraft in opposite circuits & landing direction - crazy!
  • Ground stewards:  There were arriving aircraft parking attendants, on the day I was there but not in evidence, when departure time came around - chaos!

What was wrong with Narromine and Temora???? 😈

I decided yesterday to unpack and read my copy and discovered that they were addressed to members from local and near local area so my wife took them back to the post office so they can be delivered to their rightful owners.Mine just happened to be on the top of the bundle. I wonder how often this happens to other postal deliveries 🤔

Send the image to RAAus and the editor for their information.  Cheers.

The average Aust Post contractor generally throws the delivery over the fence, into something like the bird bath, then runs away - even though it's listed as having to be signed for, on delivery.

Geez, you must have a crook lot over in the west! Our previous Aus Post delivery bloke knew everyone and was really good. When he left (to go to a job more suited to his skills and education), he shared the job with his replacement for a couple of weeks and introduced him to everyone.

Now, if you want to talk about poor delivery service, talk Aramex (*%&#$%&!! 😠).

sfGnome, the AP contractors are hit-and-miss, some are good, some are useless. I reckon a lot of them can barely speak English, so they avoid face-to-face contact. The posties themselves are good, well-trained and efficient, but they can't handle the AP parcel volumes, so AP and Startrack are always hiring outside contractors with vans for final deliveries.

Our postie is pretty good - not so Telstra, the companies that refuse to send to PO boxes and couriers who leave packages on the path in full view of the street.

The companies that refuse to send to PO boxes, are using freight agents that are not part of Australia Post or Startrack, so they can't deliver to P.O. boxes, because AP has to handle the parcels to be able to put them in a P.O. box - which of course, are owned by AP. Handing the parcels over to AP for the final placement into P.O. boxes would double your freight/shipping costs.

Officeworks started "Mailman" in 2015, which was a "post box" system for parcels, all located in Officeworks stores, where you could go to pick up your parcels, However, Mailman didn't last long, because AP have the monopoly on the postal box system. Mailman was wound up by Officeworks in 2020.

DHL hands over my parcels to AP for delivery to my PO box.

There are others who handoff to AP.

There are some jerks inside Telstra who will only send to the Telstra service address (jerks).

It is not rocket science but some companies are either stupid or wilfully stupid. It doesn't take much to send to PO boxes (or put the delivery behind the 3rd potplant to the left in  full view of the  front door but not the street)

Locally, we are getting a rash of  Uber, Deliveroo, door dash etc food delivery people delivering to the TOTALLY wrong address taking a photo and forgetting where they left the stuff.

The UK Passport office was smart enough to work out where the closest secure boxes were to us (in Oz) and then contacted us with instructions on how to get the passport from the locked box at 7/11.

I regularly get suppliers (more often than not Chinese registered eBay sites but not exclusively) who are Obviously using AP for transportation, yet refuse to send to a PO (generally making security the excuse)

The way around is address to PO Box/Street Address of your Post Office

i.e. to send your PO box 75 the address is 75/xxx Street Address Your Town Postcode the 75/xxx are just examples and would be you own numbers.

Startrack Air Also sometimes needs this address varient to get PO instead of street delivery

Been using this for years

Oly problem was when a supplier who advertised using AustPost... sent by courier... AP refused to accept of course
