    I flew a few hours in a 2 seater about 25 years ago. 2 up it had the glide angle of a brick.

    There are a number of cantilever high wings. And yes they seem to benefit from the absence of wing struts.

    When I visited Narromine a number of times 5-10 years ago the tie down cables were at a glance repurposed old steel wire cables about 25mm diameter and rusty but nothing unusual at regional strips.

    Thread drift I know but hey. I drove up to the gate at Serpentine WA and rang a committe member whose number was on the gate. I was made enormously welcome with about a 1 1/2 hour intro through the hangars/members who were present. I came away with the most positive impression I have had from any flying fraternity and trust me I have visited dozens in many countries.

    rotax- owner.com is very good and will help you keep up with improvements. I referred to the site often when I flew my Foxbat. This site was my preferred option for Rotax enquiries whereas the Kitfox site was directly involved with the airframe and less so for the engine side. Still helpful though.
