  1. As a side question - how much do you reckon the average fully equipped flight bag weighs? Does anybody factor that into their preflight weight/balance calculations? I weight 40 Kgs on a good day. So in answer to your question: No. :)
  2. Ok, my turn. One day, I saw a huntsman. He was "up there" so I didn't worry. The next day I put on my boots and am walking. I feel something in one of the boots. Nothing serious, but "different". Fluff is often found in them from the socks. I stop and take off my boot. Lowe and behold, one dead huntsman. I didn't think my feet were that bad. Extracted the spider, and put the boot back on.
  3. Well, they work. I "discovered" the problem I mentioned, but that is neither here nor there WRT the make of mine. But it is a consideration. I guess that on that point, you need to possibily invest in some padding to put between your head and any hat if you choose to wear one while flying.
  4. One thing you seem to have missed is the head strap. I bought a pair a while back - got sick of kissing eveyone else who used the plane's headset. Not the cheapest, but not expensive either. But one thing to look at is the padding on that part which goes over your head. Though some may look like they are ok, something which I didn't considder is this: I wear a hat when flying - usually. This isn't good for a long flight as the "knob" on the top of the hat/cap is pressed into your head. Although padding isn't a direct factor, WHERE the headset sits on/over your head is a factor.
  5. Then there is the HASSEL list of things to do as well.
  6. Well, I just got off the phone with HTC. Wow. Story: My phone is "stuck" on 2.1 and I can't get it to upgrade. Got a "magic" number from the person on the phone and I have downloaded the 173 Meg file to the PC I am on now. This is the page from which I am working: http://www.htc.com/au/supportdownload.aspx?p_id=312&cat=2&dl_id=1048 On the phone I have HTC Sync (the latest one) and APP Monster to back up my apps. Another one was mentioned but by that time I had APP Monster and it seems to work. On the PC (at home) I have HTC Sync (Yeah, sorry it is here I have it, not the phone) and another Sync program which works "better" than HTC Sync for actually syncing the phone. Anyway, what I think I need to do - I am saying it here to make sure I am going about this the right way - I get home, put the file on my home PC, and get ready. Before I do that, I run APP Monster and backup all my Apps to the SD card. I also run this other APP to backup my contacts. (Shame I can't remember its name but anyway....) I am down to step 7. Well, I have the file on the machine now. That was just mentioned. As I am plugging it into a DESKTOP, the PC's Hybernation is not going to happen, the phone will get all the power it needs from the PC. Step 8 has been done already - hasn't it? I have the RUU file. Step 9 That wipes the data and put the phone into bootloader mode. Step 10 and on. Well, ok. Now I am worried. If I have the 173 Meg file, do I still need internet connection? Coz I don't have one. Mine is via the phone I am trying to upgrade. (Don't ask about the cost, etc.) Do I need to find someone with an ADSL connection? Thanks in advance. FD.
  7. So...... You have a GARMIN GPS - but not with you on that flight. I can see the clip/mount there. AERA? Music: Yeah, nice. Jean Michell Jarre. Oxygene Track 2 - aka Galipolli theme. That music is nice for that kind of stuff. Looking at the clip, you went SE from Maitland, then turned around, flew West, went north of Maitland, a bit to the West - maybe near Luskintyre - then back East to Maitland? Looked like smooth flying too. Nice.
  8. You never know. This will be my fourth time.
  9. 23 July YSSY - KLAX - KOSH. Then the show. After that, I'm looking around other parts of the states.
  10. 9 weeks and counting util departure. :) Can't wait.
  11. Yeah, I say "Playlist" but I'm not sure if that is the right term for what is causing the problem. I'll look at it when I get time.
  12. David, Just an update: I'm not as stupid as I thought. On the SD card, I have: /media/audio/ringtones and notifications directories. Somehow "PLAY" (the default player) got these directories in its play list - I'm guessing. So maybe I only need to delete the sounds from the "playlist" or something.
  13. Thanks David. Alas I didn't do exactly that. When I got these extra sounds, they just got put in the "MP3" directory of the SD card. So when I play all the files...... I shall move them, but gee it is going to be painful, as all my phonebook enteries have a ring tone defined which is not the "default" - which I have also modified. Seem I must like making life difficult for myself. ;) Thanks though. I shall more the files when I get time and start editing the phonebook enteries.
  14. Ok, more a question than a "problem". I stuck an 8 Gig sd card in the phone and coppied a lot of music onto it. I also have custom ring tones and SMS tones. I was out the other day with the headp-phones plugged in, listening to the music. It was a bit tricky getting it to play ALL the songs. As it was, it would only play that directory/CD and loop. Anyway, so I was listening to the music. Suddenly I hear the message for reminders being played. I quickly grab the phone and proceed to look for the alert. Funny, there isn't one. Then I realise that it is playing ALL the music. Now, granted: All is All, but if I want to listen to the songs/music and not hear the ring tones (etc), is there a way to do this? Ofcourse the extra ring tones ARE stored on the SD card. This may be part of the "problem" but anyway...... Anyone? P.S. I'm still stuck on 2.1 too. :(
  15. Well, David and I got it working. *&*&^&* Fire walls! Now, I can be on the net and also see my other machines. As well, the other machines can also surf the net. The latter is a bonus, but will be handy now and then.
  16. Dave, No, still hitting head on brick wall. BTW Got my PM?
  17. Watching the news. Wow, who has some spare money? I want to buy one.
  18. Yeah, well, don't worry about the plan. It is not to steamgiga bytes etc. It is just now and then when I am on the net I want to get things off the lappy, and though USB sticks is an option, it is silly if I could just plug it in the LAN and see the main machine as well.
  19. Ok, I didn't tick the HTTP box. So, if I want only browsers to work, that is the only box to tick - right?
  20. Lappy now on and plugged in. Changed the DNS to 1 instead of 7. Still can't get on the net. Maybe because I haven't ticked all the right boxes when I was setting up ICS. Off to look.
  21. So I guess I shall have to change the other machine (which isn't on the LAN just now) from 1 to ....... something else.
  22. Ok, went though the motions and established ICS. Yeah, I was told the IP of this computer will be changd to .1 Slightly annoying. Can't test it just yet but can I change it back to .7 and have the ICS working?

  24. Wow! Isn't it amazing how they turned gravity down when filming that..... ;)
  25. Me thinks the autofocus wasn't turned on as when she is zooming in to things outside the cabin they are blurred, and as she widens the shot, the cabin is in focus. Oh well. But it is nice she enjoyed it. Looking, I'm guessing that is the LSA and not a 160, right?
