    Often stated - You want cheap goods , you gets whats you pays for. I spent a few years in a Government department (bureaucracy). Universal in our system is competitive quoting for goods & services . This is an excellent system IF specifications are well constructed and the quoting free from corruption. There is constant pressure to go with the cheapest quote. Combine this with the "bean counters" undermining of technical/management staff, you then get poorly developed/executed specifications. Then there is the political influence (same as in dictatorships).The result is that its not the most cost effective, good/service that is selected = down stream additional cost due to system failures. China and other dictatorships, tend not to have competitive quoting or at least not the way democracies have. Their system is all about influence & favour = even more corruption, than our flawed system. In a dictatorship, you quote below cost and then deliver the goods/service, below cost = down stream additional cost due to system failures. Our system has the potential to be better. There will be short term individual department excellence, the right people (administration) in control. Unfortunatly this will never be universal.😈

The aerobatic club should've had someone on the ground with a radio to alert anyone to a traffic conflict." Thanks for that, I hadnt considered the possibility of a flying competition. Any sort of flying comp. changes the dynamics/rules somewhat. Years ago I was involved with Club Comp. activities (spot landing, toilet role cutting). We always had a Unicom to assist with aircraft seperation.😈

    I thought all pre-flight check lists included cowl security, along with fairings, pitot, antenna, etc. I even do a wing & empennage waggle, to check for any movement/sound.😈

    Reference: Uncontrolled Airfield I am far from a perfect pilot but one thing I do religiously is an overfly, well above circuit height (min +500ft) BEFOR joining the circuit. No matter where & how far I have arrived from, I will be making at least an inbound, an overhead the field , circuit joining call, along with what I deem necessary in circuit calls (minimum turning base). The above gives me time to listen out for other traffic, visually assess traffic activity, wind direction and time for other traffic to be aware of my presence/intentions. I recognise the time/cost imperative for RPT traffic to conduct straight in approaches. I really don't like the practice, or see the necessity for private pilots to indulge in this, usually unnecessary and increased risk rout. My practise may not have prevented the above incident however it sure would have reduced the chances, even if one pilot was not communicating. On the last point: When approaching an uncontrolled airfield, the prudent pilot will be listening out (on frequency) to get an idea of active runway/traffic numbers/etc. If no "chatter" check frequency setting and /or make a call, asking for active runway advice. If still no communication BE VERY VERY CAUTIOUSE as you close with the airfield.😈

    Agree with above comments however no one mentioned what must have been a very high wind situation, possibly a short runway and a significant up slope. None of which excuses the nose wheel first touch down.😈

    Interesting. I am fairly sure that I had the privilege of sitting in the right seat, while this aircraft was taxied at Camden, a day or so before this incident. Andrew - the third/supernumerary pilot was to have his first real airline job with this flight - It was some time before he had another job opportunity.😈

    Strippers look okay (not the crimping part) Crimpers bit sus! - you will need to be sure that they will suit (crimp correctly) on your pins. Diameter & length of section to be crimped critical for reliable conductivity - don't scrimp on quality crimping. 😈

    WARNING: It seems that I have been connecting with Gates USA web sites. Many/Most of the above details & par numbers do not apply to AU. Gates AU coolant (radiator 25 mm ID /other 17 mm ID) part numbers would seem to start with 02- or 03- My apologies 😈

    There were3 main parts to my question; Is "windshear" the same as "downdraft" same as "microburst"? If not, what is the difference? If technically diffrent, what are the practical (effect on aircraft) differences? "Undershoot" -? meaning to land short? may indeed be part of the last question. I assume that the other effect might be an "overshoot" land long? 😈

    It would be great if we could come up with a list of Gates 17mm ID Coolant (heater) Hose Moneybox has given us two 17mm pre shaped hoses; 02- 1415 02- 1562 The shapes (even with cutting to length) will not suit everyone's application, so a few more, especially ones with a longish straight section, would cover more.😈

    Very much depends on the configuration of the aircrafts (fuselage). My Sonex is volume challenged (limited cargo space). It has a fabric luggage/cargo area (up to 18kg) behind the seat with a zip lid that doubles as a shelf, accessible in the air - good for maps etc. Accessible via two seat back hinged aluminium panels, an under/behind seat back, "pocket" (7 kg) This full fuselage width, triangular in cross section, stowage area has been created using very thin/light aviation grade plywood, as the back. Its for infrequently used items that I like to have with me on every flight eg first aid kit, tools, windscreen cleaning kit, jack, spare inner tube, etc Not yet modified , is the under seat space - If I do this it will be using the same system as for the seat back.😈

    I only have experince of two aircraft disk brake installations - I have always thought that the rotating "floating" disk (as in free to move horizontally) is the main factor in moving the pads away/back😈

    Ukraine & Russia have intertwined histories. Most of the population are bilingual. Their traditions ,secular & religious are very similar. I strongly doubt that any such "cleansing" has taken place, if for no other reason that it would be impractical to sort the Russian from the Ukraine speakers. On the other hand I think it highly likly that the peoples of the Russian occupied regions, are being brainwashed into good little Russians. Your comments sound very much like Putin propaganda rational for invading - to save the Ukrainians from the Nazi government , etc😈
