No experince - I understand that a Wankel has a much greater power to weight advantage over a 4/piston engine. This may mean that a relatively small engine can be substituted for a larger = fuel consumption? once started, will get you "home", even with considerable integral problems. Safety enhancement. veeeery smoooth /low vibration. Reduced airframe & pilot fatigue. compact/low frontal area - cowling design could take advantage of this for improved airframe efficiency. When you consider the 160+ years the IC piston engine has been in production/under development, compared with the 60+years of the Wankel, I don't think the rotary is doing so badly.😈

I thought as you do, however I was advised, by CASA, that there no legal/practical problem with using my SE2 IN/OUT & my ADS-B Out at the same time😈

In general; Most men have great difficulty in keeping their eyes above chin level, when attractive real-estate, lower down, is on display. Most of the females, of our species, would seem to be adept at making the most of their physical "assets", such that the male will, without conscious forethought, visually appraise the real estate. I am told, other females will also asses the assets on display but with much greater critical analysis, than the male. It would seem that the aforementioned displays, are the human female competing with other females, rather than a specific wish to draw the male gaze (bad luck fella's) Sorry BrendAn, both male & female humans, are "hard wired" to " judge a book by its cover", at least in the first instance. 😈

(Following are my understanding of Australian airspace regulations at the present time & foreseeable future) SE2 is In & Out ADSB Transponder (limited range). SE2 can be run in parallel with a compliant ADSB Out transponder. For maximum benefit the SE2 needs to be Bluetoothed connected to a suitable EFB display (eg iPad/OZRunways). The display will show ADSB OUT equipped aircrafts in the vicinity (10Nm +?) For aircraft without an EFB display, there is still a benefit in that other aircraft, fitted with an ADSB IN display, will be able to see an avoid the SE2 equipped aircraft. For entry to Controlled Airspace (CTA) the aircraft must be fitted with a compliant Transponder (Mode S, ADSB out, legacy Mode A & C). SE2 does not currently meet the standard's for entry to CTA. This does not mean that SE2 is not a valuable safety tool, especially when used in congested airspace eg Sydney. The still legal/current, legacy Mode A & C transponders are not compatible with SE2 ie do not show up on your iPad. I presume that they are not compatible with any on board ADSB systems. In congested airspace, this makes for a real safety issue. If anything is to be made "...obsolete.." it should be the old systems ASAP!. True our authorities sometimes impose incredible stupid/impractical/ineffective regulations on us, however I cant see the aviation authorities making "...Sky Echo units .... obsolete..." any time soon, as this would be a significant backward step, in their current drive towards the (subsidised) fitting of ADSB systems in small aircraft. I doubt that SE2 will be made obsolete, : As it does not conflict with ADSB Out If the sole transponder on board, as long as the aircraft/pilot does not wish to enter CTA 😈

Had to have turn around the block, 40C on the ground, 22C at 5500'. Thought it might have been a bit cooler aloft. Smooth as silk but angry looking clouds out west. A few lumps (not real turbulence) as I got down near circuit height. Unusually few aircraft in the air - Christmas shopping?? Managed a few touch & goes - all good. Bit warm, called it a day at 1.1 Hobbs😈

Maate! I love vans (as long as diesel engine/manual gearbox/rear wheel drive.) In 50+ years of driving I have had one breakdown, in my first car ( inherited an issue from previous owners) and 3 in company trucks - lack of adequate servicing. Had a roo take out a tail light, but never hit any mammal (very occasionally a bird). You are either the unluckiest owner or skimp on maintenance. 😈

If you haven't got the room leave them in the van with strict instructions to keep out of sight😈

Anyone checked out the "FLY'N FOR FUN 2026" page 80. "Bring some polish and get to show off your wings with other aviators or curious victors...." As some of you may recall I thinks Parkes is about the worst airport to host an RAA event. Nothing against Parkes itself, just that its a Security Controlled Airport - ASIC required and definitely no "curious visitors" on the flight line. RAA events of this nature should be; About educating (recruiting) the public -in part this is means access to the flight line -not possible at Parkes or similar Security Controlled Airports Showing off your aircraft (if you wish) - other than a passing pilot/ passenger - not going to happen. Open to all pilots, no ASIC required. Sure they had a sort of, semi functional, estcourt service at the last event but the fact remains ASIC requirement likly to put some off. Controlled ie have a UNICOM. Last year saw aircraft in opposite circuits & landing direction - crazy! Ground stewards: There were arriving aircraft parking attendants, on the day I was there but not in evidence, when departure time came around - chaos! What was wrong with Narromine and Temora???? 😈

I would be happy if they reduced my membership fee and didnt deliver this crap product. With the notable exception of the RAA staff advisory submissions, for the most part the rest, writen by the editor, is a trash magazine😈

FOLLOW UP My SK2 is now mounted in its own (home design) mount, just off center on the glare shield. No more clicking/inference sound in headset. No more suction pad sudden loss & SK2 dropping into foot well. Position gives SK2 optimum "view" and has very little impact on my view. SK2 now on constant charge from in panel aircraft USB, through Cygnett Unite Right Angle Lightning to USB-C cable . Despite the advocates of spend big = quality, bleating on about future dangers etc, I advocate doing the best research analyses you can ie cost : benefit. With an experimental aircraft, you have great freedom and with it responsibility, to do the right thing (whatever that means for a given project). E.G. You can easily make a flexible transponder antenna for the cost of connector, some multi strand copper wire, solder and shrink tube, at a guess $5 all up. IF your Chinese coax will do the job, to an airworth (transmit & receive) standard - go for it. Spending x 10 will not make the system more efficient or have any implications on safety.😈

Random thought; Given that the "melted" part was designed to conduct cool/external air and cooled by the same, the undercowl temperature of this aircraft must have been extreem to overcome the cooling effect of the fresh air. 😈

I think you might need to qualify this statement with - (VH) only applies to experimental/home built. As far as I am aware VH pilot/owner maintenance of certified aircraft is limited to a few routine activates eg oil change. I don't know how this translates for factory built (non certified) aircraft.😈

So I am correct - all this rabbit hole talk of aircraft registration, in relation to CTA entry, has no substance. The principal factor, for entry to CTA, is the appropriate & current qualifications of the PIC. Thanks for clearing that up. 😈
