Some testing regimes are very effective, depending on the goals of the regime. I remember once that I had to compile a report on the conduct of Random Breath Testing by the Highway Patrol Unit I was attached to. Basically it included the total number of tests, the number of positive results and the numbers of Low, Middle and High Range charges. That was back in the mid-80's when RBT was a new thing. It worked out that the number of positive results was about 0.05% of test conducted.
People were still drink-driving and it was not uncommon to get a Blood Alcohol well above 0.15. Come to the present day, and it is not often that there are reports of Blood Alcohol levels above 0.18. That shows that the goal of the regime - to reduce the number of highly intoxicated persons driving - has worked. The numbers of intoxicated drivers might have changed, but at least they are not so drunk. Now they are drugged.

It does seem ridiculous that nowadays a person almost has to have a mobile phone implanted in their body before they leave the house, yet many will happily go gadding about the skies in any direction and at any altitude without carrying a radio. "See, and be Seen"? Maybe also, "Hear, and be Heard".

There was a case in New South Wales many years ago where the owner of a heavy vehicle was convicted of manslaughter for failing to ensure that his vehicle had roadworthy brakes. The truck was going down Mt Ousley, a steep downhill into Wollongong. The brakes failed and eventually the truck ran over a car and killed the car driver. It was found that the owner had refused to get the brakes fixed despite repeated reports from the driver. That prosecution was made under the Crimes Act.
The WH&S Act defines
WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT 2011 - SECT 5
5 Meaning of "person conducting a business or undertaking"
(1) For the purposes of this Act, a person conducts a business or undertaking--(a) whether the person conducts the business or undertaking alone or with others, and(b) whether or not the business or undertaking is conducted for profit or gain.However, I can't fine a clear reference to the Management of a public company, which is a worry to my Bush lawyer mind.

I'm really getting sick and tired of people whinging about their personal Rights and completely ignoring their societal Responsibilities. If a person's Rights are more important than their responsibilities to others, then let them go live in isolation from the rest of the world - and produce all the things we take for granted.
I quote from a very well known European tome: 'And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

The names of the Acts and regulations will vary between States, but they all say much the same. The WH&S legislation is one that tends to be the same in each State, except WA. That was done with the agreement of the States and Commonwealth in order to make the rules the same for the whole country.
The point I was trying to make is that these protesters are arcing up about things done under laws that are not commonly addressed in the workplace. However, everyone is familiar at the WH&S laws - just look at the amount of Hi-Viz clothing being worn. To my mind, the WH&S Act is much more familiar to every employed person. Therefore, it is a "stronger" law, and the reasons for its enforcement are clearer.
I think the announcements of requirements for public safety under the Health Act are wishy-washy, "Please, if you don't mind" sorts of things whereas the WH&S Act says , "Bloody-well do it and don't whinge!"

I think that any requirement set under the NSW Public Health Act 2010 No 127 is not going to have the force needed to ensure the behaviour required of us all

Offence not to comply with public health order
(1) A person who fails to comply with a requirement of a public health order is guilty of an offence.Maximum penalty—100 penalty units or imprisonment for 6 months, or both.
Currently, a "penalty unit" in NSW is $110, making the maximum penalty $11,000
If the authorities want to protect the community, then this should be the Regulation invoked.

A person commits a Category 3 offence if--
(a) the person has a health and safety duty, and(b) the person fails to comply with that duty.: Maximum penalty-- (a) in the case of an offence committed by an individual (other than as a person conducting a business or undertaking or as an officer of a person conducting a business or undertaking)--575 penalty unitsThis makes the maximum penalty $63,250
Let this be known and all the "Bunnings Karens" might at least stay at home. Offences against the WH&S Act or Regulations are offences of strict liability.

Sorry for making this sentence obscure. Hope this explains it better.
We see things with our eyes by the interaction of light waves on certain cells in our eyes. Those cells only react to certain electromagnetic wavelengths. That's due to our evolutionary development. Other organisms cant react to either a wider or narrower range of wavelengths. .
Man, being an amazingly creative animal, has managed to make tools that enable S/Him to detect other electromagnetic wavelengths. Chief amongst those wavelengths we use to detect things are radar waves. So we see by the use of 'visible light' waves and radar waves. Both of these travel at the same speed, 299,792 kilometers per second.
If our spaceships are travelling (theoretically) at the Speed of Light, then the electromagnetic light or radar waves are travelling at the same speed, and, relative to the the spaceship they are from, cannot move ahead to the spaceship. Therefore, they cannot reach the observer in the other spaceship any sooner than the emitting spaceship. Therefore, the each spaceship would be invisible to the other.

The answer depends on the position of the observer. To the pilot of each spaceship, the other spaceship is approaching at the speed of light. To an observer sitting on an asteroid watching them, they are approaching (closing speed) of twice the speed of light. It's Relativity, my dear Watson.
Now here's the rub! If both spaceships are travelling at the speed of light, then their electro-magnetic images would be travelling at the speed of light also. Therefore, neither helmsman would detect the other by sight or radar. Talk about the Big Bang!

I have an app on my phone that reports the altitude of the phone. I wonder if it does this by using the GPS system, which not only gives Lat and Long position, but also height ASL.

The question reminds me of a story my Dad used to tell of a truck driver who was carrying an overload of birds. As he drove onto the checking station weighbridge he began hitting the side of his truck. When asked why he was doing it, he replied that if he kept the birds flying, he wouldn't weigh heavy.

When you come up with a good design for an aircraft, it lends itself to many tasks.
The Douglas DC-3 started out as a 1930's airliner. It joined up for WWll and became a biscuit bomber, amongst other things. Still fit for military service, it served as a ground attack aircraft during the Vietnam War.

It’s pointless wearing it while driving alone in your car, or when no one else is around and police cannot be trusted with discretion.
I agree that your car is an extension of your residence, but you never know if you will cross the path of someone in an apparently deserted public place.
I find police cannot be trusted with discretion unnecessary and somewhat offensive.

I know (oops! very strongly suspect) that I'm not infected. It wearing masks outside your residence was made compulsory, then I'd happily wear one. Not because I don't want to infect anyone, but its a sign to the next bloke that I'm not prepared to accidentally endanger his health. Isn't that one was we can show respect to others, or is showing a modicum of respect passe ?

Then there's QNE?
QNE: Indicated altitude at the landing runway threshold when 1013.25 hPa or (atmospheric pressure at sea level in the International Standard Atmosphere) is set as altimeter setting.
QFF: Atmospheric pressure at a place, reduced to MSL using the actual temperature at the time of observation as the mean temperature
Does that mean that flight above 10,000 feet is on QNE?
With an accurate QNH set, a VFR altimeter(s) should read site elevation to within 100 ft (110 ft at test sites above 3300 ft) to be accepted as serviceable by the pilot. If an aircraft fitted with two VFR altimeters continues to fly with one altimeter reading 100 ft (110 ft) or more in error, the faulty altimeter must be placarded unserviceable and the error noted in the maintenance release.

It seems Draconian, but shouldn't we (i.e. the Government) just bite the bullet and make it compulsory to wear a face mask when outside your own home (including your residence within a high rise)? By making it compulsory, everyone is treated equally, one of the goals of a democracy.
It's ironic that we decried the wearing of the niqab, which is a face veil that leaves the eyes uncovered, by devote Muslim women, and now at least one State Government has mad face coverings compulsory.

Refer to the RAA rules about the hiring out of owner-built aircraft. I might be wrong, but I don't think that you can.
I think that you are permitted to train in an aircraft that you built yourself, but you need to find an instructor who is experienced in flying the particular design. Apart from that, I think that most instructors want your training dollar spent using their aircraft.

Like many students, aiming for a full understanding of a topic, you are reading too much into why we have sub-scales on an altimeter.
There are two "Q" codes we use, QFE and QNH.
QFE is the air pressure at the airfield reference point. You find the QFE by turning the sub-scale knob until the altimeter reads Zero Ft. Assuming that the airfield is as flat as a billiard table, and altimeter set at QFE will be the same as the airfield reference point. In reality, if you are sitting on a hump that's higher than the reference point, you'll be out be a couple of feet - no worries.
QNH is an arbitrary value set by the airspace controlling authority for a defined bit of airspace for a certain period of time. When the sub-scale is set to QNH (note it's Area QNH), then the altimeter will show the altitude above Mean Sea Level, based on an average atmospheric air pressure for the Area.
USES:
We use QNH virtually all the time. Because the QNH value has been provided by AirServices, it is the current reference value for all aircraft operating below a nominal 10,000 feet. By everyone using the same sub-scale value, vertical separation can be maintained, especially if the Quadrantal Rule is followed in cruise. As pressure systems move across the Local Area, Air Services will amend the Area QNH as atmospheric pressure changes.
You can use QFE if you want to fly at a constant height above the airport reference point. You just have to keep an eye on the lowest safe altitude of the country you are flying over. I suppose it would be useful to a helicopter pilot doing lifting work to know how high above ground the copter was. You can also use QFE to check the serviceability of the altimeter by obtaining actual airfield air pressure from an accurate barometer, then setting the sub-scale to that value and seeing if the altimeter reads zero.
Does it matter in practice if there is a minor error of a couple of hPa? Firstly, a couple of hPa is less than 100 feet. You won't fly into Cummulo-granitis if you are maintaining 500 feet clearance. You might get a parallax error as you read the sub-scale, but that will still be only a few hPa - well within safe clearance. Finally, the altimeter internal gearing might be worn and the needle or the sub-scale gearing movement might be a bit sloppy. That's why altimeters have to be re-calibrated on a regular schedule.

Is it because most of our lives have been lived in a fast-changing world and our family duties meant we didn't have the time to get involved in what interested us? Now we have the time and mental acuity to spend on learning what we didn't have time for in our Prime years.
I've interested in a myriad of things from restoration of "antique" things, through wood and metal work to genealogy and writing, as well as the normal things like domestic maintenance. At the moment I have two computer power supplies to be set up as benchtop DC power supplies; a cuckoo clock to clean and reassemble; transcription of WWll Army motorcycle ID numbers; writing a story based on my grandfather's life and also my story of growing up as a Boomer; writing an instructional manual for parents teaching their kids to drive. Then there's the task of rebuilding my CNC machine and 3D printer. Not to forget getting into lead lighting to use the tools my kids bought me years ago. In the middle of that I have to learn how to use a mini spray gun. After that, I have to teach myself to weld using my new DC Inverter welder so that I can make a trailer to transport my bike. And let's not mention the maintenance of a classic bike.

I'll confirm a similar situation and reason with the situation of a Sydney manufacturer at the beginning of the pandemic. In fact, I'm sure that I have already posted what I knew. A major toilet paper manufacturer in Sydney was happily producing toilet paper early in the year. When demand sky-rocketed, he went to 24/7 production and stored the product in a number of adjacent buildings. He could not hire delivery trucks to move it from the warehouse to retailers. The big blokes like TOLL wouldn't contract with him for delivery.
