  1. My Archer had a Mogas STC. Mogas in the USA is not the same, but my Archer didn’t know that.
  2. I have the same problem in my Vixxen. Had great visors in my Archer and wish I could get something similar.
  3. Aviation hasn't seen so many Bristols for decades.
  4. Sounds like a man familiar with the mile high club.
  5. I was talked out of a stainless system on my Jag twenty years ago. I fitted a mild steel one instead and it is still going strong.
  6. The Texan in my picture had a canopy that opened backward. It had two latches and I was super careful. My Archer sprung open a couple of times but it has an inherently safe door. My Vixxen has gull wing doors, I wouldn’t like one to pop but it s much less scary than the Texan.
  7. Many a man has been undone by strong licker.
  8. Skippy in my post I started by agreeing with you then explained why, based on my experience, it was going to be a problem. I reckon you arced up a bit and I can't see why.
  9. My mother told me when she was 82 that she wished someone had told her at 70 that she was still young and could start new things. You have many years to enjoy flying if that is your dream. I am 74 and fly regularly, lots of friends are older and still fly.
  10. Either way, he's turning French.
  11. I would like to know all fees in advance. Just saying from experience, there Is a lead time to get something into the quarterly update. So if you send in a change, they will say you have missed the deadline for the next update. It ends up taking six months. You would have to somehow regulate all operators give six months notice of fee changes. They are councils and private operators. They don’t care.
  12. It takes six months to get an update onto ERSA. It is simply not practical to show fees. People would then be complaining that the info was out of date.
  13. Was it 5 hours dual? Or 5 hours total? I can’t remember.
  14. Are these hard wired circuits? Or are they mediated by a computer system?
  15. Apparently the RAT deployed while it was still on the ground, before the switches turned off.
  16. I have been on the road to Mandalay a few times. There were no fish.
  17. It’s arranged, weather permitting.
  18. The aircraft that I trained in more than 50 years ago has just been advertised for sale. I am sorely tempted, as the price is reasonable and I could afford it. But I have decided no. It is GA registered and, while I could get my Class 2 medical back, it would cost me more than $1000 in specialists fees. I don't qualify for a simpler medical because of past issues. The plane still carries its original VH reg which is why I am attracted to it. It qualifies for RAAus reg but to change the reg would really ruin it for me. And one aircraft is really enough for me anyway.
  19. An amazingly interesting and accurate story.
  20. I ordered this from Anaconda for $490. Local 4WD shop has it for $700! GME Australian Made GNSS Personal Locator Beacon MT620GR Thanks for the advice.
  21. My aeroplane is RAA reg but in all respects can be CASA reg if I choose. All certified instruments etc. So, it is an aeroplane!
  22. My beacon is now 15 years old and I suspect a new one will be better than replacing batteries. What is the best and latest?
  23. Funny I have both of them on my desk at present and was thinking they would probably work.
