No it needs to be a video conferencing facility to have interactive presentations by video - we use to use and still have the software licence for Flashcoms (http://flashcoms.com) but we need something betterI am afraid not. If you just want chat rooms, you could do worse than use http://www.meebo.com/rooms/foryoursite/ -

A lot of the longer forum members will know the disaster that I had when I was tempted by the grass being greener scenario once before - one of the worst weeks of both mine and this site's life
I spoke to webcity and their servers are Australian and they own them but they don't have VPS and nor do they offer any type of hosting where I can have Red5

Perhaps it may be worth setting up a test site there and get you all to hammer it and see what happens - I could always get Red5 hosting as a stand alone plan elsewhere

THE MIRACLE OF TOILET PAPER
Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small.
Instead of characteristically telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.
'If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds'
Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece! of toilet paper and stand in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts.
'How long will this take?' I asked.
'They will grow larger over a period of years,' my husband replies.
I stopped. 'Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?'
Without missing a beat he says 'Worked for your butt, didn't it?'
He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk again although he will probably continue to take his meals through a straw.
Stupid, stupid man.

No
- unfortunately I only got one copy and sold it but will be getting more in stock next week - problem is they are cellophane wrapped so I can't even take a sneak preview unless I keep one myself

Never shut your mouth here Scotty as long as it falls within the forums rules, policies and guidelines

All the old forum members would know so for the sake of new ones - 4.5 years ago I made the promise when I established these forums that they will ALWAYS remain FREE and at no obligation to anyone - I will always uphold that promise - after all, all a man has of any real value is his word.
I do however truly thank you for your comments and ideas
The problem with donations is only the decent and respectable people make them yet those that don't get exactly the same out of the forums as those that do so I have always felt it was unfair - if there was a way that the decent and respectable people were rewarded some way for it then that would be another matter - those that don't make a donation don't get rewarded or less of a service - that would be a better way to go.
Thanks again and oh, the reason why these forums will always remain free - because you can't expect someone to have to pay for some information that may save their life

Clear Prop has the joystick in there now - check the Clear Prop column on the left of the forum home page and click the flight sim products link

Find out for sure mate and let me know as I am just about to order the new Cyborg gaming keyboard and mouse and need to boost the order up with something to get the freight for free.

Light plane crashes near Caboolture airport
Posted 1 hour 50 minutes ago
Queensland police say a man had a lucky escape after his light plane crashed, north of Brisbane.
The plane had engine failure and crash landed not far from the Caboolture airport at about 11:30am AEST.
It is believed the man has minor injuries.

I use to have a TrackIR but with only 1 eye (blind in the other) I didn't want to risk anything no matter how safe they are besides FSX has it built in now with your mouse. That's so unrealistic. The 747 clearly has a yoke and not a centre stick...
Otherwise, awesome set up! If you haven't already, you should get TrackIR to enhance the experience even further. If using FSX press and hold down your keyboard space bar and move your mouse

Ok back again, yes it is the same joystick that I use and $95 is what I will be listing them for.
If you really want to know Clear Prop buys them for $76.33 + gst = $83.96 and if I order less then $275 worth of products from that company then it costs an extra $9.90 to have it sent to me so I can send it out to you - that makes them $93.86 and I sell them for $95 unless I spend another near $200 for products that will sit in stock using up my capital until they sell - the RRP price is $119.95. But still this contributes either $1.14 or $10.04 (less capital costs) to the costs of running these forums
Crikey running a shop isn't easy

Sorry Scotty - like many other things I just haven't had the time to put them up - I have had the X52 in stock for 5 months but it isn't up there so how on earth would anyone know that I have them, I have also had for nearly 2 years electrical hookup wire in various colours that is in stock but not listed - always wondered why I don't sell any of it, plus every type of aviation grade nut, bolt and washer that also is in stock but not listed - don't sell any of them either :hittinghead:Ian...I havent been able to find the Saitek Evo Force Feedback Joy stick in the Clear prop shop. You mentioned you would be getting them at a good price. I sent you a message a few days ago but havent heard. Fathers Day is coming up! ;)I know your damn busy!Scotty
Remember though that Clear Prop will always run 2nd to the forum's development and management and is only a support mechanism for the forums BUT I will have to spend some time on Clear Prop soon.
PS I will add the Saitek Joystick in now...oh, wait a minute I have a hookup meeting in a couple of minutes for an hour or two...then I will put them in

I am going to start looking at a product called for memory a Thumper - I saw it at the Birmingham light sport aircraft show and I know it is available here in Australia - just have to find out who the distributor is so I can put them in Clear Prop but only after I make sure they are ok and good quality first i.e. that they do the job.
Although I did try it I feel that you need to have the right kind of chair for it - one that will radiate the vibrations. If the thumper doesn't prove to be the thing we need then I will be looking out for something better.

Always Vince
- but the forums must always remain free and under no obligation to anyone. Besides why should some people donate and others who get exactly the same return from the forums not donate. The Clear Prop shop is there for you to support that way you get something that you were going to get anyway and the forums costs are covered.
Perhaps I should start a Premium Service at say $40 a year and make all the features like Google Earth Airstrips, downloads, Flight Planner and some new ones etc only available to premium users - that way I could make a living from it but I would have to spend more hours working for the forums - problem is I don't have any more hours left in the day or night - in fact have a look at the time of this post and the time of the first post of the thread

Seriously now, Vince - thankyou for your kind suggestion!

Not super geeks Phildo...just super sick people

Actually, my very first "real" pc was 25 years ago. It was a Kaypro 64 - it was at the time the super pc as it had twin 5.25 floppies, a green or orange 6" screen and a whopping 64k. The lid on the case came off which was the keyboard.
25 years ago it cost me $2,400 - that was a life savings then

Looks like we are going to have to up the hosting plan again - Just received the warning email again for this month saying that we have hit the 20gig a month of traffic limit -
in one way but there goes an extra $500 a year in increased traffic costs
It is really great to see the forums used so much and please remember that if there is anything that you feel could be added here then just let me know - there must be ways we can make the greatest recreational flying forums even better

Steve, all the hardware and software for that system is around the $6,000 mark.
I reckon every hour I use it after 60hrs is clear profit to me plus I can fly whenever, wherever and whatever I want, mind you it isn't the same as real but on a Sat night or when it is pouring rain outside I can still get my fix.
It is super smooth and has incredible graphics as it uses the best components for a sim - processor, video card, ram etc
The next thing I got to get is the moving chair. I have my sim connected to the internet for real weather that updates the sim every 15mins to what is really happening weather wise where I am flying and in turbulence the screen picture jolts so you see it but naturally you don't feel it - a moving chair will fix that. Will have to get one with a seat belt

Incidentally, the forums are going to be expanded soon to include a larger area of flight sim forums on things like hardware, scenery, airports etc which for those that are interested in sims will be able to access by clicking a tab at the top of the forums

Guys, I have created a separate forum called RAANZ for you to use if you want to discuss anything on your own governing body.
Plus I am hoping that there is going to be a spiel on the forums in the next upcoming edition of the RAANZ Magazine to hopefully get a few more Kiwis here - after all we are all flying together
-
Great idea Flyer40
I often swap between the joystick and the yoke so I have to move them each time depending on the aircraft that I am flying.
The only problem I have is time so my sim only goes on when I have time out on a Saturday night - I have a "Do not disturb - Simming" sign on my office door handle on Sat nights

Can you read this without feeling anguish?

I personally NOT fly over cloud where I can not still see the ground in case of engine failure, navigation needs (be able to clearly see 3 points of reference) and be able to descend easily without having to worry about a steep dive to get through an opening.
I personally would prefer to fly under cloud at all times and maintain my minimum altitude, clearance to cloud and be far enough away from cloud to minimise the turbulence that it causes. If it got to a point where any one of these were compromised then i would simply turn around and go back.
So yes if going under cloud is what you call scud running then I would much prefer be a "scud runner" then to fly above cloud
