aviatorpl Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Are you in Tasmania Marty? I am English but living in Poland. I had a 701 which I sold to a friend in Szczecin. It is and old one, built in'95 but was is a great aircraft and gave me much enjoyment. 3 years ago I built a Bristell NG5 which I flew first on my 72nd birthday. This aircraft is also giving me a lot of fun, "Boys Toys" I worked in Oz for 4 years, near Perth and made some great friends there. One of them has a small farm in Tas and is a Radar technician working for BAE. Anyway, good luck with your 701. Regards, Michael

Wow, the Bristell looks a lot more slippery than the 701! Kind of like going from a 4WD to a sports car. I had a brief trip to Poland about 12 years ago, it seemed like you had quite a large recreational flying sector there? Cheers, Marty
aviatorpl Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I really enjoyed flying low and slow with the 701 but I wanted to go places before I was too old. This year has been great but my plan to fly to the UK was thwarted by an equipment failure 2 days before the flight. With the Bristell I can make the flight in one day but I normally fly to my friend in Germany, near Dortmund and then fly on to the UK next day. Which part of Poland did you visit? I live about 100km north of Szczecin on the Baltic coast. 1

Hi Michael, We were living in Ireland at the time and my wife's best friend had a Polish boyfriend. (She's married him since, brought him to Australia and they're living in Adelaide). So he was our guide - we spent most of it in Gdansk, Sopot and drove around some lakes and forests. I remember a timber yard with an upside-down house, there was a memorial to people who were taken on the death trains, another memorial at the spot where Germany first invaded in WWII. Sorry I can't remember any more of the names of places - there was somewhere on the coast with a massive pier, all I remember was the delicious food that was ridiculously cheap, and KFC which tasted like it used to in Australia 25 years ago...
Marty_d Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Thanks Geoff. Yes I found it on my plans too and started fabricating the upper part (that goes on top of the HT). I found I had to make a little rib - like the front of the rudder root rib - to hold the shape of the piece where it goes under the rudder LE.
red750 Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I'm looking for some photos o the Zenith that I can use to create a profile in the Aircraft showcase. If you have a couple of photos you would like to have featured, and can scan me a copy of the specs and performance from the POH, please PM me for my email address. Thanks guys.
Marty_d Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Seven years on - I was scrolling through this thread last night looking for inspiration on painting. How's everyone doing with their CH701's?

How's everyone doing with their CH701's? I recall seeing some nice new designs on the USA Zenith factory site a few weeks back. Be bright and different. Happy deciding and painting. Search Zenith USA aircraft images shows plenty of different designs for paint. Edited 16 hours ago by Blueadventures 1
facthunter Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I suggest Acrylic Lacquer. Less likely to chip and easy to touch up compared to 2 Pack. . You can also do it in sections. Overlaps Blend in. Over a thin etch prime. Watch for dust . Nev
