Thruster88 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Apparently a formation flight, they would know the risks and accept them. 1 3 1
skippydiesel Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Strong gusty winds in the Sydney basin today - not the best conditions for any small aircraft😈 3
Blueadventures Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Being reported that the two aircraft were part of four involved in an acrobatic formation flight and were returning to land at the airfield when the collision occurred. Very sad. 1
sfGnome Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago John Taru (who was (is?) an instructor at the Oaks) said on the ABC that one aircraft turned with the second plane turning alongside it, but a wind gust pushed one into the other. ☹️☹️ 2

onetrack Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This is terrible news. 2025 is going to go down as a dreadful year for light aircraft crashes in Australia. 2024 was a really bad year with 27 fatalities, 2025 must have exceeded that figure already. There were 16 fatalities from 12 crashes up to the end of July, and there have been a serious number of crashes and fatalities, since then. 1
