Nev, you didn't miss much, the video was so bad, it wasn't worth watching. One does have to wonder how the crew managed to miss a warning light for the open cargo door, at startup.

Maybe bright sunlight in the cockpit?  What about the despatching engineer talking to the Pilot before the Plane is pushed back showing the gear pins and knowing the brakes are released.  The baggage is often loaded right up till the Last Minute. Nev

Don't Walk Arounds happen in the 'heavy' world? maybe not the number of times we hear about pitot covers and bits of tape left on?

Arron - As Nev says, though - loading of baggage is still happening almost up to the last minute, while the crew are in the cockpit doing final checks. There's obviously holes in Jetstars loading procedures and door checks.

Surely there is an indicator in the cockpit showing the door open or closed and confirmed as part of the pre-takeoff checklist?

a basic car these days comes with 360 deg cameras. you would think aircraft could have cameras too. the crew could do a last minute check from the cockpit.

there seems to be a lot of incidents happening on the ground lately.

anything is possible in the real world

reminds me when we were all seated on a Qlink Dash at say 5.30 am in the morning - at Brisbane - next announcement was all you bods get off - so it was back to the terminal - Qlink had to fix a flat tyre

we didn't grumble - we all thought the experience was a ripper

You can get a flat tyre anywhere, I guess - there's been a few blowouts on takeoff, it doesn't seem to pose a major safety problem. But an open cargo door upon taxiing is procedural and check list failure, on a number of levels.

The before start check list gets you to confirm all doors closed before pushback, some airlines arm the slides before starting the push others arm the slides during the push.

You definitely get a warning, have attached a few pics of ecam plus oxy/door page on the A320.
