  1. Hi, and How about a few more details? eg where are you learning to fly? What plane are you learning in etc etc Cheers, Neil
  2. Hi Rob, and . Tell us a bit more about yourself - what do you fly, and where are you based? How long have you been flying? Cheers, Neil
  3. Excellent pix, Marty. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Neil
  4. Interesting indeed, GG. Thx
  5. Brilliant! Thanks for posting.... Neil
  6. Hi Noddymajor & . You say "not yet" a pilot - so are you currently learning? If so where and what plane? Cheers, Neil
  7. Hi Justnuzza, I have just done my tailwheel endo in that plane! Great fun. Is Bruce your instructor? Cheers, Neil
  8. Penfield, Riddell's Creek, Romsey, Melton, Bacchus Marsh......depends how fast your plane is......
  9. Wow! Very cool! Neil
  10. Excellent video! Thanks for posting.... Neil
  11. I'll drink to that!
  12. Hi Maj, I hope to go along as I live nearby. Will drive if wx is crap. We met briefly at Natfly a few years ago, and it will be good to catch up and chat. The Lethbridge crowd are very friendly, and the airfield has just been upgraded with a tarmac runway and other new facilities. What info do you require? Hopefully I can fill you in. Cheers, Neil
  13. Yep - saw them do the sketch live at one of the Secret Policeman's Ball shows in London (I was lucky! And I tell that to people and they don't believe me....)
  14. You are correct - I should have been more specific. I still doubt I would fly over this populated area though if I am to be certain of remaining at least 1000ft above the highest point while still under the 1500 LL. As you say, there are a lot of helicopter operations there, which is probably why the BA is there. Cheers Neil
  15. Hi Kaz, Yes - it does seem a bit odd. I doubt I will ever be flying there, but perhaps somebody who flies in that area could enlighten us? Cheers, Neil
  16. ....and I always liked these 2 from the US Visa Waiver form :- 1. Have you ever been involved in genocide? 2. Have you been involved in moral turpitude? ...especially as there was no explanation as to what the hell "moral turpitude" actually was. Turns out it includes crimes such as having committed "Mayhem" or "Pandering", which I was also unaware had specific legal definitions (I thought mayhem described my house on a Saturday when the kids were over - guilty, Milud). Cheers, Neilt
  17. .....Does your memory ever NOT serve you right (87.2). ...OK, OK I made that up.....
  18. Congrats, Ayavner! Well done on your achievement. Cheers, Neil
  19. Hi Louie, Ever dozed off in front of the TV? (Section 3.4) Ever dozed off "Lying down to rest in the afternoon when circumstances permit" (Section 3.7) ...oh, and by the way "Do you use illicit drugs?" (Section 4.11) - coz people who do are REALLY going to tick that box, aren't they? I just scratch my head.... Neil
  20. Thanks, Kaz - I see it now. Am I right that there are no Broadcast Areas in the Melbourne VNC? The VNC legend has BA boundaries as dashed green lines, and I cannot see any there. I understand what you are saying, rhysmcc, but if that should apply in all cases (ie non-Broadcast Areas as well) then Yenn's original point stands - i.e. they should state it explicitly in CAAP 166-1, which they don't. I am happy to do whatever we are supposed to do, but unfortunately that still seems to be open to interpretation and debate (hence this thread....) Cheers Neil
  21. Hi John, Thanks for your reply - but I'm afraid I could not find a reference to 5000 ' as default height for defined broadcast areas in the AIP - which section is it in? I did however find the following under the definition of Broadcast Area :- "A note on charts states ”for operations in this area SFC -- <altitude> use CTAF <frequency>”. ", but I looked at the current Melbourne VTC, VNC etc and only found this note appearing once , in a very small area right in the middle of the Melbourne CTR over the Bolte Bridge, so not sure where else it might appear..... Cheers, Neil
  22. I agree. I have always assumed that "a height above the aerodrome (reference point) that could result in conflict with operations at the aerodrome." would be below minimum overfly height, which I have assumed is 1000 ft above circuit height, which I assume is 1000 ft AGL, so in other words I assume you are not "in the vicinity" if you are more than 2000ft AGL......But I could well be wrong, especially if they do gliding or parachuting.... Neil
  23. Well done, mate! Like others have said - a never forgotten moment. Enjoy the rest of your flying..... Cheers Neil
  24. Hi Riley, I am also looking to build an Airdrome Sopwith Pup, so have one or two contacts. Firstly, TAVAS founder Andrew Carter, who has a Fokker Triplane - see www.tavas.com.au for contact details. Secondly, there are a number of people who have both completed or are currently building Airdrome kits at Watts Bridge. Bruce Clarke has a Sopwith Pup, and I believe is now building a Nieuport. Others have a Fokker Eindekker, and Sopwith Camel under construction. If you PM me (ie start a "conversation" ) I can give you emails (but don't want to put them here in public threads). Good luck! Neil
  25. Sadly just got back from the UK, so missed it! Neil
