    For me CTA access isn't about landing at Class C & D airports, (why would I want to go to Moorabbin, Essendon or Bankstown etc) It's about being able to transit the airspace. ie East Sale Coffs Harbour Sydney Basin Greater Adelaide. and i'm sure there are others. These are all significant road blocks and the alternative routes either put you down really low, over tiger country or over deep water offshore, all of which create greater risk. Sometimes the alternative is to track significantly longer distances to avoid them all together.

    But you can guarantee that when you've almost pulled off a successful landing in the most unlikey scenario, a Kangaroo will be there to ruin your day.

    Agree, great job. But i bet his/her heart sank when after putting it down on a gravel road, in undulating terrain with trees, rolling out, thinking " I've pulled this off!" and then several roos come out to ruin the day!

    Kangaroos doing what they do best. STATUS: Under review OCCURRENCE DETAILS SUBMITTED TO RAAUS: The aircraft was tracking BAXT to YSCO at 2500 feet. Approx. 25nm south of Scone, an unusual noise developed in the aircraft and got progressively worse over a period of approx. three minutes. Power was reduced and a severe vibration commenced. A call was placed to Brisbane Centre that the aircraft was experiencing difficulties and would be immediately commencing a precautionary search and landing and an approx. position given. A quarry haul road was selected as the best option due to the terrain and proximity of a farm residence. A decent was immediately commenced with a track over the farmhouse at low level. A landing was commenced on the haul road. Once established on the ground and about 80 metres into the roll-out, several kangaroos came across the road and one or maybe two were struck by the left wing of the aircraft. This placed the aircraft into a sliding rotation and the right wing struck the embankment which resulted in the aircraft rotating further and coming to rest against the embankment at 90 degrees. This had caused the nose-wheel to collapse and the left main damaged in the table-drain. The pilot shut down all systems and exited the aircraft uninjured.

    After reading this thread, I'm now further enlightened at how special the Sportstar is 🤩 You pull the choke all the way out and there it stays until you push it back in. Actually, you can set it to any position and there it will stay, until further human intervention. Thanks Skip for making me like my aircraft just a little more today 😁

    You really think the US was concerned with the plight of the Kuwaiti and Iraqi people???? If so, I can see why you think Putin is concerned for the Russians in eastern Ukraine.

    If you think this war is about anything but oil and gas, you're kidding yourself. If Putin was genuinely concerned for the russian people in the 2 eastern states of Ukraine, he had all the military power to simply annexe them and defend them against all-comers. But that's not what has happened. He has waged a country wide annihilation of a people. The US are no better in their motives (oil and gas) when invading other countries either, but to their credit, their military precision (since Vietnam) gets it done with significantly lower collateral damage and significanlty less political and global anti-US fallout.

    I saw something recently from a home builder who was having overheating issues with his lycoming. he eventually settled on the intake to the engine, and worked out the engine at WOT was consuming 6L/sec of the available cooling air. He made a separate air intake for the airbox and saw CHT drop by 30deg.

    Only help I can offer would be to suggest you contact the SAAA SAAA From their website; Our FSAs operate in accordance with SAAA’s Flight Safety & Training Manual – in summary our FSAs provide a mix of on ground support around planning, training and test flying, and also support in the air as test pilots, safety pilots, mentoring flight trainers and instructors.

    Some part will be the same as the Jab 2200. parts are also available from Camit UK Website is a little sparse, but he replies to email - I contacted him when we were considering a Camit engined aircraft.

    I'd start with a heat gun and see how you go. I've removed many obnoxious stickers and vinyl wrap from cars using heat guns without damaging the paint.

    Not sure about the relation to aviation, but the naval stuff is correct. Steerboard became Starboard (right) and Port, well Port (left) They would never dock steerboard side to the dock as damage to the steerboard was highly likely. Other note, the word "Posh" is alleged to come from sea travel to Africa. Wealthy travellers would book a P.O.S.H. Cabin ticket. Portside Out - Starboad Home. The idea being they could see land out their cabin window on both trips.

    We have earth repelling machines at lilydale, and I was given warnings during my instruction about their wake turbulence. You have to be well aware of their flight characteristics, slower in the circuit and generally do a steep approach on final. And then they hover taxi - ie they're flying in places you don't expect aircraft to be flying!

    Do they realise who people are referring to when they say "the Bureau" in the US? 😬 And lets face, we are inundated with US TV here - when someone says "the Bureau", who do you think of? I suggest we call them, "Da BoM Shak-alaka"

    You would hope so. Lilydale and Coldstream are only 5km apart. Lilydale operate at std 1000ft AGL = 1250 AMSL with all circuits to the west Coldstream operate at 1250ft AGL = 1500ft AMSL with all circuits to the east. Both operate on the same CTAF.

    Higher MTOW and Controlled Airspace access. Maintenance may be higher, but you only get pocket change out of $500 for RAAus yearly rego and membership. So if you're having a LAME do your maintenance, you'd probably be pretty even.

    And then the question is, if you've got an RPL on a drivers medical, why bother with RAAus and it's yearly fees when the CASA reg and RPL are a once off fee, for greater privileges.

    Did my training in a Jab with Electric flaps. The Sportstar has manual flaps. IMHO, the manual flaps are much better for the reasons above. I did this the other day with a significant crosswind at Tyabb. Raised flaps as soon as the mains touched, keeps you planted on the ground and stops you being blown around by the crosswind.
