I'm going to have my old man whinge here. I don't understand why aviation software developers are hung up on Apple products? This wonderful piece of software is only available on a device that reliably overheats to the point that there is a market for powered tablet holders with in built fans etc just to try to keep them working. Yet I can buy an Android based tablet with more features for half the cost that doesn't overheat, but there is less aviation software available, and those that are available are downgraded versions. Andriod has 72% of the mobile device market, Apple has 28%, What am i missing? 😕

Parkes, NSW Fly'n For Fun 27 - 29 March 2026 - Who is going
RossK replied to Blueadventures's topic in Trips/Events/Seats
We went in 2024 and had a good time. Can't go this year due to family commitments. Overall, we thought it was a good event, the ASIC issue isn't a problem if your camping underwing as they have an area set aside that is not airside. Portaloos only a short walk from the camping - see the blue loos in the photo. Day visitors parked airside and needed an escort if they didn't have an ASIC. We also hired a car so we could go to town for dinner, see the dish, buy 98 at the local servo etc. -
Hi MB, I've got a RAM mount with a table tholder that sticks to the canopy, just in front of vent, but angles back past the vent. It's easy to reach, doesn't block any instruments and gets cooling air from the vent. This is the best pic I've got though.

Hi MB, I've emailed you the Evektor Bulletin for the Crosswind Limt increase, 18kts by the way. Bulletins are available on the Evektor Website. Evektor Bulletins

Kitplanes let go its Aviation staff earlier this year, the below is from the previous editor when he left. Posted to Vans Forum. "Dear colleagues and fellow aviation professionals, I am writing to let you know that as of this morning, there is no one left at KITPLANES Magazine. Today, Firecrown Media—the owner of the magazine, severed their relationship with me. A few days ago Paul Dye and Tom Wilson left the team. Marc Cook departed in May. You may have been expecting an email from me requesting an update for the Aircraft Buyer’s Guide. Alas, I will not be sending it. For the past 17 years I’ve been the web editor, and recently the executive editor at KITPLANES Magazine and have met many of you in person or via email or phone. You’ve supported the magazine through your advertising, subscriptions, and even by submitting content for publication, and I thank you. Firecrown purchased Kitplanes along with Aviation Consumer, Aviation Safety, IFR Magazine, and AVweb from Belvoir Media two years ago. Earlier this year the company shut down Aviation Safety and IFR Magazine, and this month, Aviation Consumer. Russ Niles was fired and Larry Anglisano left Firecrown. KITPLANES is now entirely without staff. It's disappointing, but I'm proud to have been part of the team that generated so much fantastic and relevant content that no other publication in the world could rival. I don’t know what comes next, but I will be in touch, and I hope you will too. Meanwhile, I encourage you to visit AVBrief.org and subscribe to the free newsletter, and tell your friends about it, too. You will find many familiar names there. Apparently they are using writers from their other magazines stables and using AI to try to make the content relevant.

High-wing RV-15: progress report from Van's

That's the market they are going after - people who want a new 180, but can't buy them. -

RV15 - Back country accessibility (STOL) with a higher cruise speed (140knts reportedly) than what's currently available. Sonex HW - IDK 🤷♂️ -
Skip, I'd still suggest you have a go. I once submitted an airticle and Nick was good at suggesting edits. The article was published and he sent me a Sport Pilot Hat 😁 If each member of this forum wrote one article a year, he'd be flooded with more relevant content than he could publish.

Skip, when you go, write it up, you could get a free hat 🧢 On a serious note, if we the members don't write and submit articles, it's left up to the editor to fill the pages.

Another way of supporting if you're not keen on donating, is to buy stuff from his Clear Prop online shop. I bought a couple of things from Clear Prop and they've always been price competitive.
