just came back from holidays and walking through the airport from the airline gates there were herds of people going in one direction and a few coming back the other way on the other side
the left hand side convention was being used (not that its a social sin to do something else) .......... sure enough there was a family of 4 coming back the other way on the right hand side - they were battling head winds amongst the traffic and as they past I 100% heard the american accents

Dutchroll - if you are landing say a 50 ton plan (guess a 737 could be that) - I would of thought a 25 kt crosswind would equate to a lot less ............... than say a light aircraft in the same wind ......................... like to know that - thanks

To answer your question, let us assume class G airspace with a left hand circuit on runway 36.'

........ sometimes you hear the term joining early (or late) downwind runway 99 - to give an indication where you are on that leg
isn't this ambiguous ?
should it not be joining long (or short) downwind ?

There's a fair bit of talk in another thread about approach speeds for landing
What about braking - if you have brakes - apart from brake testing at initial taxi and return to hangar ............. may be a dab after flare to see if they are there
How much do you rely on brakes after flare ?
Seems to me best way is try and not rely on brakes to make the plane fit the strip ............... just in case those brakes are not there or are not as good as you thought they were ?

......... but the first officer eventually becomes a captain (more often than not) ................. what changes ? ...................... does the extra money and power make that person a pompous clod (I'd also be guessing all captains are n't pompous clods)
