  1. In reply to onetrack....

It's not necessarily the hacker that does the scam.

Hackers infiltrate (for want of a better term) a company then on-sell the cc details.

More than likely those using the card illegally purchased a bulk list of aussie cc details...

  2. Just like the taxi industry running, crying to the govt to outlaw/regulate uber.

They current "paid for service/rpt" industry would start a campain to undermine Wingly through lobbying casa and public fear mongering.

I'm hopeful the wheel is slowly turning back to where individuals can determine their own risks and responsibilities.

The world changes, that's s fact. Once vibrant industries can become redundant. Just a fact of life.

  3. Fly it and adjust to your tastes...

Above 4 or 5 thousand I generally fly WOT, and it sits just under max continuous rpm (5500), then slowly drops as I climb due to less oxygen.

This gives me about 5650 max down low, flat/level. I feel setting it up to 5800 max is a bit too fine pitched for me.

There will be differences to winter and summer running depending on how hot/cold it gets.

A nice cold, high oxygen morning and you will feel it.

Don't be scared to rev it. 5200 to 5500 and it's like a turbine.

If you monitor all egt's you will see how out of balance they are at lower revs, then they all come together over 5000...

NOTE* I'm talking about the carby version...

  4. A local pilot has done some private international ferry flights and he told me it was very important to "look the part", especially in 3rd world countries/airports. Irrespective of your qualifications, you should be dressed like a "captain". You tend to get more respect and things go easier...

Also anyone coming with you are "flight crew". The term "passengers" creates problems.

He ferried an aero commander to aus and his brother became flight engineer, dressed in ex raaf/raf green overalls with the badges and stuff. He'd never even put fuel in an aircraft before...lol.

  5. Compromises trying to please too wide an audience seldom work well for anyone..... Let those who just want entertainment go to the airshows, but leave us the airspace and freedom to visit with other flyers and prospective flyers and take them for a ride whenever it feels right.......

I think the "public" flyin is basically the Airventure that we have just had. No need to rehash that.

I'm all for a "flyers" flyin. The public not excluded but they can take it or leave it.... A flyin made for aviation enthusiasts, pilots, aircraft owners and the like.

  6. I would prefer to land in a designated landing area, salt or other.

It would not be the best place to take out a wheel or gear leg on a stump or rock.....and perhaps people/kids wandering around could be a problem.

The station strip sounds good, with a lift in.

As it's a nation park or reserve, they are strict on camping. You cannot even take a dump in the bush.

Everything that comes in must go out....

  7. I don't think it is right to speculate individual blame but see no probs with talking about the aircraft itself and what happened.

I believe in an individuals right to speak/write/post. Who am I to say you can or cannot do that?

I DO believe in personal freedoms, whether I agree with what is being said or not.

If I disagree with the drift of a thread, I simply don't go back to it. Best for everyone involved.

  8. I personally would be buying a new clean fuselage - best in long run as it will retain value more and be an easier rebuild.

I know nothing about jabiru airfames, but this definately sounds like the best option to me, if you were looking to repair it.

Or is there potential to sell the wreck(somebody elses problem), add the insurance money, perhaps throw in a few dollars youself and buy a new aircraft?
