Just to be clear, the aircraft needed a different type of inspection before it was registered, as well as the annual inspection. more paperwork.

Took up gliding because it was to hard to keep current and get maintenance done in remote type areas for ultralights. Found out you can't register one if it hasn't been registered for more than 2 years.

The other thing you could consider is using a shed with a smaller door and use track like they do for sailplanes. Put the plane in sideways The local club just use angle iron with the point up. Not hard to whip up a dolly. Looks like wheels are readily available.

They use to fire one up at the engine start up days at the aircraft museum in Port Adelaide. Not sure if they still do.

I must admit, I am sick of them blaming the last government. Albo made a point about the fuel security when he was in opposition so he new about it and has done nothing in 4 years so the ball is in his court. There is only so many times you can do that.

Using Europe as a comparison to our fuel prices over here is like comparing apples and oranges. They have a very good public transport over there with a road that is bitumen also normally has a bus run along it. You can catch a train and prices being less than $100 between country capitals. Our fuel needs be cheaper once you get out of the metro area. Often it is not.

Would not bother me at all, then I could walk to work. Spent fuel is political and public perception problem , not an engineering one. Thought this was an oddball aircraft thread.

Yes- Micro reactors are coming and it is a no brainer. Being developed for remote community's and mines in Canada. The main problem is that they need their 20 years worth of fuel from new.

I reckon, back in the day they use to put carb in a box and pressurise the box. The floats would have neded modifying.

As I understand a Cessna 172 came out with 180 hp verses the 5.7 in the VY commodore was about 320hp. You could derate the commodore to 250hp and still be ahead. I would think the V8 would be slightly heavier and would need a redrive. Looks like the commercially redrives are fairly expensive. You wouldn't need to allow for stress of the slip the foot of the side of the clutch pedal on some good bitumen either.

I reckon there was an australian drag engine manufacturer in the 80's that did the same thing. No head gaskets to blow. Were the early merlins the same?

Windfarms have underground cables and it is a regular occurrence, mainly at the joints. It has been suspected that as sometimes the cables are running flat out and than not carrying anything at other times the heating and cooling cycles cause the cables to grow and contract and the joints the weakest point. The cables had 3 phases in them and the joints heatshrunk? together. We ended up splitting up the cables for several metres at the joints and mounted each phase a metre or so apart to a frame underground. This seemed to fix the problem as we only had one failure in the last 6 or 7 years I was there. There a transmission lines in Australia that run up to 500kV. Portland Vic heading back towards the coal fired stations. 132, 275kV are the common ones.

On a normal disc brake caliper the square section o'ring pulls the piston back because it twists a bit when the piston moves through it.
