Keep it up mate, it'll all come together like it is by the sounds!

Yes, it's pretty fowl kinda stuff.Lol, only just... but at least I don't go home smelling like dynamic lifter. -
The V8 Mack engines were/are a bit renowned to break a crank if you sit there and rev them - nil load.

Thanks again everyone!
And no I won't forget Alley, though a party frock....... maybe just some dress pants will do

Poteroo, the style has its merit, but I'm gonna stay covered up this time, so I don't get eaten by mozzies and stuff!

Thanks a lot everyone, much appreciated: I'm looking forward to it, something very different in a lot of ways!
It's part of a mission organization, so I heard about it through that, and this community needs an airstrip badly. So I've volunteered myself, as have quite a few others to go and help out.If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up wanting to build an airstrip in PNG?Some think I'm mad, paying my way, and forfeiting Christmas at home, to go and do manual labour in a dangerous land, but once you see the benefits of what an airstrip can do to a community, it is well worth the effort.
I've got friends that fly over there, and or that used too (fortunately they're all still with us!) So I hear first hand of what a difference this sort of thing can make.
Looking forward to it, and counting down the days.....

Spitfire with a few mates playing chase.

.....working away in the shed and a Hornet flew over at about 1000agl (guessing) and woke us all up from our work!
Ran around trying to find my camera.................................
But then they were to far away, but they hung around for about half an hour, dog fighting and practice bombing runs on the WW2 airstrip across the paddock. Was absolutely awesome to watch, they can come do it again anytime!
There were three of them.
Sorry about the photo quality, but I only had my small point and shoot with me..... And they are soooo fast!

Unfortunately due to the weather being cantankerous at Caboolture (the coast) my GA training has been a little unreliable. So I've pulled the pin on it for the time being as I'm heading off to New Guinea soon. Only had a little bit to go on the Navving side of things, but days off and weather weren't playing the game.
By the way, it's good at home..... just the coast is a mess!
Anyway, some of you may be interested, I'm heading up to Papua New Guinea to help finish of an airstrip, it's in the vicinity of Tari (in the Southern Highlands) at a community called Pori.
Should be pretty interesting, I'm going up with a dozen or so other friends, and it's part of a mission. (self funded)
So when I get back (22nd January) you can expect some interesting photos. I don't leave till the 11th December, which is coming up rather fast!
Bit annoyed at having to post pone my PPL, but looking forward to PNG.
PS. I won't be online during my duration away, so you can expect to have a break from me for about 6 weeks or more from the 11th December!

That's a terrific noise coming out of that thing, awesome!

Regardless of the fact whether we're RAA, GA, HGFA, GFA etc.... we're all pilots (nuff said)
We're all individuals - and we're all responsible for our own actions.
They say if you want to know a persons character, put him in heavy traffic.
As Motz said, attitude is everything. Forget whether your plane has letters or numbers on it, it means nothing in regards to a persons attitude.
Mazda it's a shame, but until you're a RAA pilot you don't really understand how much we get bashed by GA. I'm quite appalled over the fact, one of the reasons I wish we could stop it.
YES the training is different, and YES the syllabus is too, but that is beside the point.

reporting errors
Couple years ago our car was involved in a fairly large accident (one of 5 vehicles), front page of the paper was our car, under it was the report. Funny thing was the colour of the car in the report was different to the glaring big picture above it.

Hey mate,
The Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK) is the paper theory exam. Depending on your school, but usually around 50 Q's
The GFPT test (as Darks said) is basically Oral, he asks you questions, you give answers. You'll do W/B and Performance charts. If you get a good examiner he'll ask questions in real life scenarios, which I find good, as you figure out what he's on about. Once he's happy with all that, you'll then go do the practical.
Basically he'll only ask what you probably already know by doing BAK, Airlaw etc...

Thanks for the photos Jostin, looks interesting!
Maj that would be quite shock... finding a bomb that hadn't exploded yet.
Thanks for all the kind words, we'll be roughing it, but for a worth while cause.
