Thanks guys, that's a good start for me to look around.
Where are you Cfi!? I was hoping to catch ya! When do you get back into the state?
-
I'm most likely heading there on the 12th of March for a meeting, and thought I should make a few days of it, any good places to visit, go too?
Anyone from near there on here?
-
Thank goodness I only have a laptop, and no mouse! Pheww....
-
Always a pity that it's on a Sunday. If I'm free at all in the afternoon I may see if I can wander over in something. Assuming I'm not somewhere else doing something!
-
Good O'l Mr Thompson! Knew it was an Aggy bit didn't know who it was, thanks DD.Kupunn (near Dalby) based R1820 radial 1200hp Bull Thrush ag plane flown by Robin Thompson...all in a days work apparently. Thanks everyone for your concern about me too! Appreciated.

Received this email from Trevor at Clifton - Hope he doesn't mind me posting it!
On Sunday Drifter 787 suffered serious damage when it was hit by a strong thermal gust whilst carrying out practice emergency procedures.Daniel was the instructor and received no injury. The student pilot received a deep cut to his forearm and no other known injuries.
Members concerns are appreciated and thanks for them.

Anyone on the forum from up the Kimberley way? Broome, Derby.....?
Got some friends at the Aboriginal community of Dodnun (370 odd klm from Derby) and was thinking of visiting sometime mid year maybe, just seeing if there are any locals that fly around the area.
Mt Elizabeth Station is the nearest airstrip to them.

Ouch, good to hear no one was hurt to bad - must of been a pretty decent gust.
-
Haha, thanks - yeah flying the hemisphericals.... I don't know!!Great vid Tomo, thanks. Good to see the ball in the middle and the VSI = 0. Interesting reading on the ALT :-)Thanks for the compliments everyone. It was good to get back into it - I didn't have time to turn the camera on in Toowoomba for video unfortunately - arrived there and the circuit was busy as, with inbound RPT, warbirds, choppers etc... so I was keeping the head outside for that one!
-
I went direct from Cecil to Toowoomba, then direct Toowoomba to Dalby via Oakey base. Controlled and restricted areas weren't active obviously.Great vid Tomo, which way did you come into Toowoomba from? -
80hp 2200 Jabiru motor.What motor(size) and hp does a 120 have in it?====
Thanks Nev

Took the Jabiru 120 up for a flight yesterday afternoon, hadn't flown it for nearly 2 months, so was great to get back into it again - and what a glorious day for it!
-
Took off in Dalby and tracked to our place at Cecil Plains, then headed into Toowoomba, landed there for a few minutes, then headed back to Dalby. Was a fantastic flight

Gotta love themA metric/imperial/WW shifting spanner......You get them to paint the up/down chain on the endless chain different colours, so you can easily figure what is up or down.
Radiator cap for me VW Beetle
Left hand hammer
Left hand flat washer - most important ;) (btw many people don't realize you need left hand spring washers if it's left hand thread!)
-
Thinking of you Frank, let us know if you need any help.
-
Hope you all get out of it relatively well, to those up north.
-
Thanks guys,
I will hopefully get to writing some stuff sometime soon... Pretty exhausted at the moment, as today was a big day helping with my Bro's birthday party stuff as well.
But don't worry I'll try and be back on board asap. (Also gotta speak at a few places this week!)
Here is one quick shot, showing myself and some of a crowd - was our going away presentation (they gave us all this stuff)
-
...see, (or is that sea?) that someone is up to...

Pikka Boo! :peepwall:Besides there'll be even less on that scrawney carcass after building airstrips in the PNG jungle.Arrived back last night... healthy and in one piece, but Maj is right about the size of me, had to put the belt in one hole

Have a birthday party to attend today, so hopefully I get some info/photos out in the next few days. Flood wise, our place is Ok, but there a many that aren't. Phone lines are still out.
PNG is great!

Just like 1 and 2 equals 3, and half of 2 and 2 equals 3.................
We are basically working the same way - really.
The only difference I can see is, if your cruise is 60kts - your so called '6 minute' markers will only be 6nm apart. Wheres if your cruising at 120kts - they will be 12nm apart!
That is THE only difference I can see between the two ways of doing it?!
If you mark 10nm out, you still 'time' it, you still update you eta etc etc.... If you do your 10nm in 3 minutes or 7 minutes... still works the same....
I have a feeling we're all in the same boat, just looking over a different hand rail.

Hey mate, awesome to hear!
My instructor sells the Highlander (could have been your salesperson at Natfly!).
Not a bad machine at all I reckon, hope you enjoy it.
-
Good point Andy, I was taught to always leave the canopy down for that reason on (aircraft with canopies, obviously!)
Something to do with the angle of it, doesn't seem to effect it when down, as apposed to up.
-
I fly both types on a reasonably regular basis - It does cross my mind when landing a low wing.... if I stuff this up and end up up-side-down, I could end up with a sore head, and an interesting exit!

Good stuff Steve

Cyclone Season
in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Posted
Not exactly cyclone - but just for those interested, here are some photos my brother took of the flash flooding in Toowoomba. The family were in there, and they were actually the first car to be stopped at the top of the range as the floods hit Withcot. Pretty fortunate they weren't down there!
