  1. Jabiru aircraft are rated to a ceiling of 10,000ft. So I don't think the airframe vs height would be the huge factor here.

The conditions, and that experience - I'm glad you're with us today mate.

  2. Hey Tomo, how are you going with judging the calendar entries? I gave myself a fright, looking at my diary this morning, not too many weeks left to compile, print, advertise and sell these before Christmas.Cheers Carl

    Working on it Spin, thanks.

I will compile it together and post here for some last minute critic before we send it off. Once I work out what/whos photos will be used, you will receive a PM asking you to email the full Size pic to me.

Thanks, and I hope to have it all rapped up by the end of the week if we can.

  3. Well done Sam, it's all good fun.

Radio calls... I think we all have some story about them. I reckon we gotta stop thinking that it is a ritual (for want of a better word), basically, think what you want them to know about you. Rather than just doing the call because that is where you do it.

I found it a lot easier once I started thinking that, make it a two way conversation, rather than a robotic type call. If you can see what I mean.

    Have fun.

  4. And on another point even RAA pilots are required to have either an AVID or an ASIC or they are not flying legally. It is required regardless of pilot qualification unless flying dual to my understanding. Is that your understanding as well?

    David.

Don't think that is correct though, I'm pretty sure You don't need an ASIC to fly an aircraft - only if you're operating out of security airports.

I had my RAA license quite a while before I obtained an ASIC.

CASA have just made it a pain, and you need an ASIC to get a Student license.

  5. Didn't sing (didn't want to scare myself 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif) But I remember laughing, possibly from relief that I didn't run off the runway on take off (tail drager) :ah_oh: and surprise that this thing really does like climbing without someone in the back!

    It was a great day.

You can't get me to stop talking now though, you get a running commentary if you're with me. (blame it on being related to a tourist company), and I often talk to myself if on my own... well why not? 025_blush.gif.9304aaf8465a2b6ab5171f41c5565775.gif

Bris center is quite entertaining too! ;)

  6. Hey Alley,

Well I'm not real big for a start... but even then it seems to work for most people, once you get in, it all falls into place!!

Yes, done 15 odd hrs in a J230, so know the size. But still have to say the J120 is the pick of Jabs.

  7. Measured off 100, 200, 300 meter marks this afternoon. Fueled up to 2/3rds full (60 odd liters.)

Myself 57kg, and 10kg of ballast up front, and pretty much nil wind on the strip.

I could get it off the ground in about 100 mt, but 150 is much more comfortable for a stop start.

Landing is a good 200mt for a safe outcome, 300mt is more comfortable.

These were just rough guesstimations, and definitely don't take it for solid advice, as it is just my observations. Temp was about 18 deg C, 1100ft amsl.
