  1. that must be 1 tuff model and retract sets to hold him up. I WANT ONE!!!!!
  2. Maybe we need the training syllabus to be expanded to cover this more as part of our RPC. I know our local Sportstar was placarded "no spinning" and the stalls done during basic exercises introduces you to the buffet and gentle nose drop that occurs. I was told that using the buffet if occurs will indicate that you need to correct before the stall, But this does not help if you are caught out by inattention or distraction and a wing drop occurs. From what I have read not every plane uses the same recovery technique, so hard opposite rudder, close throttle, ease rudder off as spin stops, then exit dive gently may not help(this is what I have tried to remember just in case it is ever needed)- especially if you are too disorientated to figure out which way the spin is to start with. I would like to go somewhere and do a solid block of training in upset recovery with a good and patient instructor, I would consider this a good insurance policy for longevity.
  3. We could all take away from this that rules and regulations are there to be adhered to for our own benefit. A few individual mistakes or deviation from how we are taught to do things compiled together had this terrible result-which when reading who would want to put their family and friends through.
  4. Took my first solo flight in C182 today. Never sweated so much, looking across at the empty seat on the right made me think no stuff ups allowed. Once I was airbourne and completed that first circuits’ checks I felt better and more comfortable. A few more short hops on my own should do the trick. Just hoping the weather plays the game over the next few weeks.
  5. RIP all, I was only admiring that very aircraft circling as we left on a Cruise boat a fortnight ago.
  6. At least he can see the wind direction
  7. I have found the trend of black and silver caravans to be quite pointless (except for a new look) I have measured the wall temps at 30 degrees hotter externally than the white ones in same amount of sunlight. With 19 to 25 mm wall thickness an aircon struggles to cool the inside. Colours make a huge difference in heat absorption. Even black decals make the fibreglass sandwich panels gas up and bubble the surface.
  8. i supose "going down" when the inevitable happens wont work any more
  9. nose wheel please. some of us are still on traing wheels
  10. I hope that’s a moped on the way to a costume party and not a flying machine.
  11. This one should end on that positive comment and we all get on with safe, fun flying.
  12. Aren’t those guys insane. Too small of a hole in too big of a space for my liking. Still a brilliant job of timing..
  13. With you dual controls and pedals spaced that way in the picture are you seating in tandem offset to the side? Just curious cheers clint
  14. I have done my requirements for issue of RPL, eagerly awaiting my papers so that I can go flying again. Hopefully the weather will be nice to me and I can go out and try my first $100 hamburger (probably $200 or $300 with 182 fuel bill)
  15. look at the aircraft extremley closley. i bought what was a good price. only to have spent 3 years and 10k extra fixing and still havent flown it.
  16. I found the Stewart systems gear good on the Bushbaby repair areas after watching all of their Youtube vids to see how to prep, apply and paint-much better than reading about it. Seems to go a long way too.Only thing I would do different next time is use a flex agent in paint( I used PPG auto paint,) I have found that it cracks whilst working inside the airframe and bumping fabric.
  17. Looks pretty good to me. Wouldn’t mind parked in my hanger space. Big sub da woofer for gun noises would complete it.
  18. Has any one else had trouble logging into Naips?, went to check weather today and does not want to Let me log in. It might be overload from the new GAFs.
  19. sam allen wholesale marine have a good quality usb charging sockets in 2.1 A and the digital display of voltage with a floating decimal point. both use same size hole. I have found their electrical stuff to be good unlik e a lot of import peices i come across in my work. yet to check on radio interference
  20. hope things start to look up for you soon Bex. will look forward to your progress updates when things line up better for you. cheers Clinton
  21. would've like to have flown in. haven't had enough hours in the days to finnish all my work and the final bit of training to get set free in the 182. Hope it all goes well over there. should make the next one.
  22. Even in the current classifieds there are some very affordable options on offer if you really want to fly and are not fussed about excessive speed. Two I have seen are less than a fishing boat, or a nice motorbike, and both have folding options for small storage. I know if I couldn’t use my ticket from no hire plane I would be looking at these type of options.
  23. Getting the hang of the 182 differences now. 6 out of 6 landings that I was pleased with on Saturday morning. You tube helped. I watched Gary Wing's and Ron Michado's videos over and over this week before going, found knowing what the view should look like throughout the approach and landing helped.
  24. Hi Guys, I'm in the 182, the other chap is in the 172. Ralph, I showed you pm list to the instructor after my first go, so I didn't come across as a know better type. He liked the ideas presented. We have loaded half of the weights in the rear, with a marked improvement in how much elevator is left to use on the flare. I am going to add another 20 kg for next time. I am just going to hope that the wind stays down for Wednesday morning, so that I can really get a feel for the aircraft without the challenges of cross wind on top of it. The grass strip would have only had 10 degrees off centre line the other day. Cheers Clint
  25. We tried 20 degree with some power on which improved things, might try 10 or less to see how that does, after all we have 2200m to play with.
