Often the first link in the disappearing process would be a train for bus or hotel lobby, and the addition of the Dunny Drain segment would keep people away at that sensitive time when someone asked "Are you Lord Lucan" etc and their ego got in the way.

The result was so shattering for the sneaky rat  that he went off the grog and prayed to Hesysoos for saving him in what he considered a miracle and Haysoos answered him from behind a rock, saying verily " It was not I, my son, but your good friend El Chaperone who has the power to turn bullets into burp gun pellets"

Heysoos had invited his flying friends to the Turbine Compound.

As they arrived at the luxurious airfield with its concrete runways with fluoro yellow centrelines so they knew where to land, the were picked up in a Chevy Suburban flanked by two Silverados armed with 20 mm canons. On the way in, Cappy commented that the Mexican peasants were bowing to the convoy. The story stayed in the Lincon Memorial stubbornly refusing to move to aviation, but then there was a buzzing sound and a Thruster came into view and splashed down [avref] into the waterhole in front of the monument. It was ...............

  7. I just did some research on elevated tanks etc. for a small airfield or country strip.

Elevated farm tanks have progressed in line with workplace standards, and delivery driver no longer climb up the ladders to check levels and refuel, so gauges, ground filling, internal inspection hatches etc. have pushed prices above affordable for 1 or 2 aircraft.

Applicable storage and handling standards are: AS/NZS 2906 and the Australian Dangerous Goods Code.

As Onetrack said fuel can't be carried inside a station wagon, on the back or front of a car or the back, front and drawbar if a caravan, but can be carried on a roof rack or the back of a ute or a trailer. These have the advantage of dispersing vapour.

I'll leave people to look up the car boot requirements from their own local service station.

All of this means the 200 litre drum is looking better as a fuel dispenser.

Quart pumps, or even better rotary vane pumps, both with long delivery hoses are ideal for two man refuelling for high wing; electric, controlled at nozzle for single operator.

The ideal location is in its own small shed to minimise evaporation and water ingress and theft, the shed being located to aircraft can taxy past it..

    Supply

Every farming district has a farm fuel delivery agent; may not be in your town but will be delivering down to single drums in your district. The drawing below shows a typical farm unit in the 1990s where gravity was used to handle the drums, dock to rear tray, rear tray to ground, and when empty they were light enough to lift back on to the tray. These days I would expect to see a hydraulic tailgate doing the lowering and lifting. There is a knack to getting the drum to the correct angle and spinning it along the ground, but it's not hard to learn. The truck does its round at regular intervals based on what you are using. If use increases, just add a second drum etc.

Never seen the like in NSW but perhaps WA is a hint of future draconian rule. Bureaucracies seem to be on some sot of race to the bottom. You will probably be banned from flying non certified aircraft, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.

Could you get a tanker to fill your 44 on site?

Nany's Fuel Farm Pickups operate over most of Australia filling overhead gravity tanks or dropping as many 200 litre drums of whatever you order.

  11. This is the link to the Constutution of Recreational Aviation Australia Limited, and under "powers" you will notice that it doesn't have any powers to investigate accidents.    https://www.raa.asn.au/storage/raaus-constitution.pdf

ATSB do not investigate RAA accidents, generally, but to be precise, now and again decide to investigate a specific accident.

However, in general there should have been no expectation that ATSB would investigate the W.A accident.

Police investigate RAA accidents, and provide a brief to the Coroner, which is what is happening in the W.A case.

    So no surprises there.

The comments by the Recreational Aviation Australia Limited are interesting, but ATSB and W.A. Police have both provided answers which confirmed the normal process is happening.

There is another process which hasn't been mentioned and that is if someone decides to sue someone else for breach of duty of care where the responsibility is decided in Court but so far there has been no indication that will happen with the W.A case.

    Turbo,

you missed the mark by a long shot here mate.

I am well aware of the processes involved & still support my comments.

If you believe that it is not about distance you may also believe that they are building a bridge over to Tasmania.

Before you suggest that i should take the time to read the threads consider this, I may have already done this which supports MY THOUGHTS. Something of which we are all entitled to.

I just wish that we were all as clever as you , man how good would that be.

No blame is the first thing we should be thinking of not the last.

Learning from this is a close second.

When news of an accident comes out, the first information is neccessarily sketchy, sometimes wrong, usually reported verbatim by the press from the police and others on the scene, and not official information. It often reaches us within a couple of hours of the accident.

So understandably there will be some incorrect details as there were with this one. This site has a history of gradually getting to the correct details when someone publishes a coroner's report or an RAA report or an ATSB report.

Where details  are not coming in it has been tradition to discuss simular situations and use them as learning tools. The people are not implying that's what happened at the subject accident scene, just what can happen in similar circumstance.

The pilot is not being tried, where he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but equally it shouldn't be assumed he has done nothing wrong. The best way to approach an accident is to have a neutral opinion until some hard evidence points to a human failing, which could be a pilot, but equally could be someone who failed to assemble a component correctly, or someone in any of the operations we fly in.

    34 minutes ago, Kununurra said:

Why all of our lives do not matter to the authorities is the next as we are all aware that it is not being investigated.

There are now about three threads discussing various authorities, sometimes correct, sometimes wrong. If you'd read them before posting you'd know this crash, being a Recreational Aircraft, is being investigated by WA Police who will provide a Brief to the WA Coroner, and the report will come out from the WA Coroner.

If you think about it, on your property if you happen to be killed while out duckshooting, if you're in a river in your tinny fishing and it tips over and you drown, those accidents will be investigated by the Coroner.

All are recreational accidents, so it's a routine path.

Certainly some people lately have been trying to drag ATSB into it, including the current CEO of RAA Ltd, but that's a double edge sword which could easily bite recreational aviators if they had to fund it.

I don’t accept distance as an excuse for not investigating this or any other incidents in Australia. It is a vast country with a lot of inhospitable sections that we flyover. This land has been here for many years, it has not just appeared all of a sudden.

Distance is not being used as an excuse on this one, just some uncertaintly reported by WA Police who may not have been familiar with the process.

    34 minutes ago, Kununurra said:

Its time we had some action from the governing bodies to identify what went wrong so we can all learn from them.

If you read the other two threads, you'll pick up what we discussed. In the case of RAA some minor changes would probably cover it.

    34 minutes ago, Kununurra said:

I don’t know about the rest of you but I for one believe that we are ALL worth that effort regardless of where it occurs.

The Police and Coroners do a great job regardless of where the person dies.

Firstly, if done properly, like sanctioned by the NTSB, or RAAus, this would be a bit more than a "team of motorists". Secondly, I'm sure the police would be happy to have the help of people who know about aircraft. The whole point would be to appoint a team who would have "legal" authority, to photograph the wreck, cockpit switch positions, advise of any dangerous aircraft components (ballistic parachutes, carbon fibers) etc, to name but a very few considerations, police may not be familiar with. I would not be surprised if some highly qualified potential investigators are also RAAus members. How "legal" do you need it? Is the NTSB "legal"?

Firstly, RAA have been called on by Police for many years, so the relationship already exists

Secondly, what I forgot to mention,  RAA is no longer an Incorporated Association; the members voted for a Limited Company, so can no longer just vote to form a group for anything, members pay a subscription for services from the Company. As I mentioned on one of the other forums, Police call in RAA Ltd personnel when they need them in an investigation, as does every other SAAO.

The system isn't broken as the title implies, just some people don't understand how it works.
