That's very interesting, but what was the problem with the motor?

To pass the RAA pilot certificate test I need to Know ALL the answer's to ALL forms of flying whether: Jumbo-jet, rotory-craft, PPC,RPL, even HGA.
No one should interpret CASA's regs to suit themselves, nor a CFI having their own slant on them, name same "name word " for same instruction without acronyms.

So we Do need an "Ultralight Flying Federation"!, as opposed to the moneyed "Sports Recreation Association" Formally RAA .
It seems to a lot of rag&tube member's are not getting value for money, from the compulsory Association, as well as being in their local flying club.
Borrowed from another forum "
Private and sports aviation regulation in Australia is an unholy shambles of conflicting and differing regulatory requirements with organizations like GFA and RAAus bought by CASA for a pittance each year when they should in fact be acting for their members.
CASA is charged by Parliament with regulating. So do it. The various organization should be consulted and should lobby politically to make sure the regulations are the minimum necessary and are evidence based. The regs must be CASA regs, not rules or quasi regs promulgated by private organisations like GFA and RAAus which can force people to join them. Whatever happened to freedom of association?"

Hi Bb,
Just a quick look on the web.
Unacceptable Aircraft Radios
FCC list with your RT-328C on it
hope it doesn't throw a spanner in the works (looked to see if it had a schematic there)

What, no more comments about two pound Hurricane's spitfire;less than ten quid, English motor bikes ten, if good, Harly's Indian's all thrown into a huge pile
If what I know now, plus having a bit of money, I knew then, I would be very wealthy.
But wouldn't we all.

Mine was a "Consul-Cortina", but the rear lights didn't match any pictures of Cortina/Consul's as they were tear-drop shape,
I had it chopped 3" by way of removing the rusty sills, lowered suspension and a 1.9L Zepher motor, looked very good, & was too fast according to the boys in blue.

It depends on the charity and the Prize, an A22 foxbat would make me want to get as many chances I could,

Too True, Riley,
But when the new owner is ready to cart it all down to the airfield and get it assessed as ready for the test flight, is when things can go so terribly wrong,(wrong wing-loading/too high a stall speed). Then it goes back as a Gunna.
One day it Will make the bureaucrats list of rules, IE Powered-Parachute wing, as well as normal wings! .
I wonder what the Space-shuttle wing-loading was, on takeoff?

Don,
does that mean an aircraft with damage wont get an ACR, & thus not be able to be registered?.
I doubt it.
spacesailor
-
Don , There is no buyer's protection on the ACR form at all, RAA require it for registering the new owners particulars in their data base.
If like the motor industry the seller has to get the roadworthy certificate, fill in the name of the new owner send it off to RAA ,it would make a lot more sense.
One inspection, pass or fail, it gets signed sealed & sent off to the Bureaucrats.

ME TOO
Glad I didn't expend too big a sum on it, I actually started another one as drilling out the monel rivets is a big pain.
It's huge a shame that such a safe & good looking aircraft has to jump through too many hoops to get certified.
Strip it down to it's component parts, (drill-out the monel rivets) photograph each bit, then have someone oversee it's assembly again. All for the Bureaucracy of a none useful "wing-loading".
They fly great without a wing-loading, And I thought a 6X6 G-rating, (actually it's 6X4 with the training wing-tips on) would have made a better safety indicator.
I must look into the Hummel Ultracruiser as it has a wing-loading of only 4.9 (something) and the weight is 50lb lighter, But the G load is down to only 4.

OK , Litespeed,
Saves me going up the hill to see if he still has the HummBird.

That's GOOD.
I told my late brother the same thing long ago, he didn't believe me, so, I told him to leave his wallet behind. Suddenly his friends all had other things to do.
I would like to have a aircraft owning friend LoL

But:
Why not make the Seller get the ACR, he only needs to do it once!, a bit expensive if multiple buyer's each have to shell out for that piece of paper.
The new owner only has to put their X in the allotted box on the ACR the seller has purchased from an L2. And RAA + CASA should be happy

I will have to check my neighbor to see if his is still on the market, fuselage built and has a half VW with prop,
Did ask for $5,000 and same $5,000 for motor.
He like others stopped building & bought an existing flying plane.

PS I bought an air riveter for aviex rivets. no effort needed to pull blind rivets.

Litespeed
Just a thought, there was 16 Builder's at one time, (me too),
why not have a look at a part build, it could save time & money over buying a new set of plans, plus metal, parts, tools, & possibly a motor.
what is your suburb post code ?.

Ayecapt,
Why?, All the finances were mine, as is the flying cost,
If I take 8 guest away for a couple of weeks cruising, I had to feed and provide liquid refreshments too, on the other hand I take myself flying in the club environment,
and it's one eighth of the cost of cruising. And be there & back in a long weekend.

FC.
I contend the ACR Does Not do it's designed job, an ACR can find an aircraft can't fly, safe or not, but still an ACR for owner-ship transfer.

Try the old "gas axe" cleaning needles, they're still around, But be very gentle or your 45 will end-up 65.

This sport IS cheaper than "yachting" My HummelBird cost is less for insurance and registration, the boat fuel tank takes 1,000 litres of diesel, the fuel economy pushing forty foot, 15 ton, up the east coast is ridiculousess.
On the other hand the HummelBird does (on paper) 61 mpg us(4litres) at 100 mph.
This is the one that can do it.-

Thanks Don,
But even your views contain the same item.(1) "the ACR is no guarantee of airworthiness as has been mentioned above - it is merely a report on the condition of the aircraft."
(2)"Before an aircraft can be first registered it must be airworthy. It seems reasonable to me that an aircraft to be registered after a period of not being registered should be airworthy. If not airworthy why register it?"
The answer is," the registered aircraft is worth more & insurance cost less"
Even interim rego works that way.

Just looked up the RAA web-sight to check aircraft prices, then went to see the price of membership.
And
"Choose this option if you have never completed formal flight training or have no logged flight training experience."
Were do half way wanabees go to? "never completed formal flight training" But have logged time in training.
Do we need a third category "Old timers" try again.
PS is there no aircraft for sale in Australia

Kasper, helpful,
But, "If the sale contract is contingent of a satisfactory ACR from a nominated/agreed L2 to be paid for by the prospective purchaser"
It's only good for the toilet to failed purchaser.
As mine is & never will be flyer'able the ACR will have no bearing on it 's condition until its removed over-seas, or another ACR from a new owner .
spacesailor
PS I still enjoy sitting in My bird, with the motor purring, Close my eyes pull gently back on the joy stick & my heart soars like an eagle.
