Robert the exec has bypassed a lot of common sense approaches in their desire to hire a new GM. Job description issued on a Wednesday and applications closed on the Friday of the same week. In many respects, a bad rudder is worse than no rudder.

The exec are trying to pass themselves off as victims of gossip and a CASA witch hunt.

You do realise that it took a CASA shutdown for the RAA to actively start fixing the plane registration issues. If they come for the pilot registrar it could take a long time to check that everyone with an RAA licence is legally licensed.

you prefer that CASA shuts the RAA down for breaking the -L-A-W- ? Good luck selling your RV12 when 95% of the RAA pilots can't afford to go PPL and E-AB.if the board gets kicked out as it seems that everyone wants to do who is going to run raagetting sick and tired of all this crap I thought this forum was about flying and not attacking the board every 2nd post

Its concerning that the exec seem have no plan for correcting the problems or averting any future problems and that they seem to be intent sabotaging the future of the RAA by hiring a new GM without applying much care or consideration.

I am sure Rachet means well, but his ego gets the better of him.
The air frame is only part of the equation, after putting so much effort into cutting the costs in the air frame you are still up for considerable expense with the engine.
If only someone could come up with a cheap 100hp alternative to a Rotax!

poor Catlin, nothing worse than having someone "helpful" trying to do your job who you can't tell to stay home.

and the compass will need replacing

one thing you will need done is to get the speedo converted from mph to knots

I prefer the comparison between boats and planes, most bike engines are built too light to be effective as plane engines.

It's the RAA way; if you are forced to do a job you don't want to do [report to members your progress on your f-up] do it in a half-assed manner.but considering the context of the situation which generated the need for this report, one could be forgiven for wondering if this is an indication of the quality of the checking which is being performed.......

Not just from operating incidents but from storms as well. That part of the world seem to have regular hurricane/tornado seasons, vehicles close to the water are bound to get some sort of salt water damage.

The only issue with buying a used Sea Rey is the possibility of buying a plane that's been underwater. I reckon anything in Florida is suspect.

I wouldn't like to be trying to import and register as a #24. I think there is a lot of paperwork to go over. #19 is straight forward as long as the design is approved by the RAA.

There is nothing more exhilarating than driving to Brisbane and finding your container does indeed have a plane it after months of wondering if its empty. My container went from Norfolk down the east coast via Georgia and Texas and then across to Spain and was unloaded in Italy. After 2 weeks in Italy it headed down to Madagascar and then Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. Then onto another ship to Brisbane.

remember rachet, you are better than these commoners

that $10K I spent doesn't cover the cost of picking the planes from the AQIS inspection point. but overall its a lot cheaper importing a plane than you think, in my case $5K per plane. you might need to remove the rudder to squeeze it into the container as the are only 19'6"? internally. you can easily hang the wings of the side of the container and tie the wheels to the floors. all along the side of the container are hooks.
-
Then you need to get the container from the port and delivered back to the port in the US and the aircraft loaded into the container. The yanks don't do container loading very well, the easiest way is to use a tilt tray truck, the sort that are used to tow crashed cars away from accidents, to load your container. I spent $4500 to do that. My container spent the weekend getting loaded so you need to factor that in as well. My planes where 110 miles from the port.

How far from the nearest port is the plane?
This is the damage on my delivery, keep in mind this is just what you spend to get your container off the wharf and through AQIS
