Frank, I happy to admit to falling into the "lynch mob" way of thinking.
Do you think the exec are responding to the threat of another CASA audit or members needs?

Those port costs was with me picking up the planes from the AQIS inspection point, which was a trucking yard off Ipswich Road. I asked the guys who did all the port and customs work for me that I needed easy access from Toowoomba and that was the best place they could find. It was a good spot too as it was about 500m to Ipswich Rd which feeds directly to Toowoomba, much better than near the port as I would have had to drive through the CBD with my planes on a trailer
. I also had to pay for 2 guys to do an hour of unpacking and cleaning so another $160. Was a hectic 2 days running up and down from Brisbane to Toowoomba 4 times. My advice is make sure you bring in something expensive ($50-60K) enough to make the effort worthwhile.

for a plane you are better off shipping a 20' container than trying the LCL path. anything to do with motorbikes is expensive.

So would you prefer paying CASA to come out and inspect your aircraft?

If I told you 3 months ago the secretary of the RAA would be seeking a proxy vote from you to stop the members influencing the direction and operations of the RAA, you would have called me crazy.

As a general rule, the way to get members involved is through social events. The problem for the RAA is that the exec has squashed development of any social events due to the fear the events would be an avenue for the word of their misadventures getting around.

both lipo and life need cell balancing to maintain the output, your standard lead acid battery does not. life batteries would be suited to a constant loss system where you where just using the battery for the starter and running everything else of a lead battery.

The problem for the board is that the members turn up to the AGM with their proxy votes, maybe with a few more in hand, where as if middo pulls the same stunt again he won't get the same result.
Runciman, Reid and Middleton will be names always associated with the CASA audit and the RAA cover up that ensued.

lipo and life are common batteries for electric RC planes
-
most of the work in importing is finding someone to load and move the plane

Can I be the first to applaud Eugene for tendering his resignation and not withdrawing it.

Mark, you forget the new treasurer has been trained by the out going treasurer.

Ok thanks that sounds like a plan

So how do I cut the white protective membrane on the makrolon without leaving a mark on the polycarbonate?
-
You can polish/clean polycarbonate. A polishing compound for swirl removal available from auto parts shops will remove that layer of gunk. Polycarbonate is hygroscopic so it absorbs moisture from the air, the dirty sheen you see on polycarbonate is dirt drawn into the surface by moisture. Polishing with swirl remover will clear it up to almost new condition.

HIC, I would like to see how you make a blown canopy cheaply. From what I understand, getting the shape right and a uniform thickness takes years of practice.
-
This poly carbonate is UV2 Bayer offer a 10 yr warranty
-
you mean lipo or life batteries? they have a different charging requirement to a lead acid battery

The board has a plan? It must be a secret plan cause I never heard of it.I would like the Board to devise and publish a plan.
I think if the exec and the board was capable of planning we would have a plan. Alas they can't pickup on the budget missing licence fees for 3000 pilots. Now it looks like there is a $300k shortfall in the budget and the treasurer is not aware of it.

You can't underestimate how much progress has been made, for the RAA exec to take the unprecedented step of begging for proxy votes prior to a meeting. That's never happened before.
The End of the Beginning?

No we have to keep the knife to the throat, as the Sicilians say.
