Despite it having plenty of grunt, I imagine it would need a fair bit of runway and would be coming in pretty hot over the fence. To me it looks typically French and needs a PIC who has plenty of hours behind them. Not for your short farm strips guys.

I have just finished reading the lengthy article on one particular flying boat https://www.aussieairliners.com/shortfb/vh-brc/vhbrc.html What an interesting life it has had, and it brought back a memorable occasion when I was lucky enough to be shown through the aircraft back in 1976. A couple weeks after my 33rd birthday I was on holiday staying with an uncle who owned Round Island in Poole harbour. He took us out on one of his boats for the day and we went for a closer look at this flying boat at Studland Bay, it was only there for a few days and had been used for a few flightseeing trips. We actually took his boat under the wing and were chatting to the crew onboard. I was not lucky enough to experience a flight in it, but we were invited to go onboard for a look around. I remember it had a smell of it's own, something like you experience when getting in a real old car that has'nt been smoked in. The photo's taken that day are sadly long gone, but I was totally mesmerised looking at the abundance of photo's in this article, especially the internal shots towards the end. What an interesting life she has had, and been fixed up to fly again after being so battered and bruised on more than one occasion. At 83, I doubt i'll be making another trip back to the UK, but if I do make it, i'll definately be heading to The Solent Museum in Southampton to see her again. They say that Joseph had a coat of many colours. This aircraft did also. They also had one on disply at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon near London when I visited many years ago which you were allowed to walk through. If ever in London a visit here is a must.

Only read the first bit. Thought you'd swapped the Sonnex for a later model SE5. Not suggesting that you'd you'd be old enough for one of those Skippy, but they were a great aircraft and at least they never had had to worry about any phone mounts.😁

So much fun when they appear at our feet unexpectidly. A few problems to keep us on our toes. Just don't fly past mobile camera's, and you should be ok? maybe, mabe not, keep a keen mail on mailbox for any nasties.

Sadly, a few jump. Maybe a matrimonial thing or too many loose corks in a bottle. Could'nt fall overboard,unless intended. Done quite a fair few trips, but sorry, did'nt invite you Nev. 😉. Haha!

I had an ex-cab Ford falcon that I bought from my brother-in law some years ago that had 670,000kms on the original exhaust. That was straight lpg and run 24hrs a day. Possibly the constant running at fairly high temperature contributed to it's longeveity? That was original mild steel exhaust.

Whether Lobster or crayfish, if he sends some to The Oaks for pilot appraisal, i'm certain he'll get approval either way. They're always happy to advise, and so good like that!😜

That's utter BS. Numberplate technology comes at a pretty hefty price, but so does the extra wages for all the people involved who process these so called indisgressions. Time to think seriously to whom we vote for. Don't visit there, and they get nothing. Just what they deserve. Unfortunately, greed is so contageous these days.

It's a myth that all aircraft owners are wealthy. Sadly not all see it that way. A bit more of give us your cashitis, you could call it plane robbery.

Take a look at Bankstown Airport. Largely become a commercial hub growing fast by the day as untold amounts of money are poured into the site for development. It's run by Aeria Management Group AMG who also control Camden Airport. AMG is owned by Aware Super, one of Australia's largest profit-for-members superannuation funds. The massive development taking place there has to be seen to be believed. Some of the buildings are that long you could almost put a runway on the roof for light sport aircraft, as off-runway space deminishes. All very good for some, until there is a major mishap such as happened at Essendon. EFOT and limited space available.

Possibly bare feet donning a few bindy's, so you don't press the rudder pedals harder than absolutely necessary 😜

Welcome Jack! Lots of good advice on here to learn from. Occasional bit of harmless BS said in jest, normally with a wink. Stick with us, i've enjoyed my time here for the past 19yrs even though like others I no longer fly.

More fun i'm sure than driving the estimated 16 1/4hrs by road each way. Don't even begin to compare delivery costs of documents to Australia Post. Glad you had a safe trip and the Sonex performed well.

Talking of motors, I made a 46inch RAF crash fire tender boat radio controlled with an 8cc Taplin Twin diesel in it. What a beautiful motor that was, so smoth running and powerful. Today they fetch a small fortune among engine enthusiasts. It was great for chasing the ducks on Wimbledon Common.🦆🦆
