  1. Must remember the test switch is only advising the circuit works and there is battery life. It does not advise if the battery will perform for the required 24 hours minimum for a PLB and Epirbs are 48 hours. Best to replace on time as you may need it's 24 hour plus performance one day; hopefully not. What may be a good idea would be to have and expired one hooked up to the required voltage through a voltage reduction off the aircraft battery; just saying food for thought as may be a life saving backup???
  2. Reports coming in about a Japan Airlines aircraft erupting into flames on landing and reports all person evacuated. May have collided with another aircraft. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjcuPDFur6DAxU0kq8BHfRIC40QvOMEKAB6BAgfEAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.abc.net.au%2Fnews%2F2024-01-02%2Fplane-erupts-into-flames-as-it-lands-at-tokyo-airport%2F103280258&usg=AOvVaw3oKszXq9w4AkDr0AtIimp4&opi=89978449 A Japan Airlines plane was in flames as it landed on a runway at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Tuesday evening. Footage on broadcaster NHK showed flames coming out of the windows of the aircraft and beneath it. The runway was also set alight. The plane, which had taken off from Sapporo, collided with a coast guard plane, NHK said, citing authorities. All 379 passengers and crew on board were evacuated, media reports quoted the airline as saying.
  3. You mention ed a tube or something about being added up the center of the rubber mounts? Have you added these. I replaced the engine mount rubbers on a friends Skyranger and they have a steel tube in the centre of the rubber mount and the rubbers slide inside themselves. May assist preventing distortion.
  4. Could even TIG some thin wall tube to the appropriate size washer to make a cup washer. Worth a try will retain rubber insitsu.
  5. How would some purpose made cup washers go at retaining the rubber shape and compressibility better?
  6. Flight finished after 9am Queensland time (no daylight saving up here, we like that or curtains don't fade too much.)
  7. Need longer bolts for the mounts as no thread protruding and what is the spacer under the oil banjo for? Any images of the mount to firewall fixing?
  8. Happy New Year to all. Fitted in first fly for 2024 this morning between the rain showers. IMG_9922.mov
  9. Up to their QA, QC etc systems. I expect a follow-up about the matter. Parading them before the shareholders would be interesting.
  10. A couple of people will be getting called into (invited to) the office.
  11. But such always confuses my simple mind🤪
  12. Agree as it links the answer / question to a reply. Good helpful advice. Cheers.
  13. You can buy electric carb heat devices from Xair in Ireland. I fitted these to my 912 in a Nynja. Best to have and use carb heat. Had a carb ice experience on another 912 UL aircraft, not fun and don’t want ever again.
  14. Merry Xmas to everyone and your family; have a nice festive time. Cheers Mike
  15. Switch at top right above gauges.
  16. On my ULS engine oil temp is always higher than the CHT temp. usually about 8 degrees C. I also have a two position toggle for CHT feed from #2 and #3 heads and these read differing temps (one gauge and I can select temp source).
  17. Thanks; had same in mind. Just never been over there so now looking forward, flights next and have cousins over there to visit before or after.
  18. Confirmed non air con room at uni Wisconsin and on wait list to upgrade to air con room if/when available. What happens if you buy a gauge say a $1000 US item; do we pay a duty when arriving back here? Cheers
  19. ATSB report out now; missed selecting fuel tank that contained fuel and a contributing factor was not recording fuel usage and tank contents. Bugger when it happens.
  20. That conrod looks cooked (wrist pin end)? (Heat treatment or out of a cooked engine?; looks interesting to me.) Hopefully an aero engine in the future.
  21. Maybe in Croc mode; they can see you but you can't see them🙃
  22. Nice flying; just trying to kiss the stb wing tip trailing edge with the spinner.
  23. I take it that that is the reply on behalf of members and that individual members may have the same, slightly different or vastly different opinions. Ben does a very good job with his comments and gives opinion and his knowledge of evidence in chunks so it can be further commented on if needed. And considering his recent accident I believe people must give him greater credit for his effort and thank the team that are with him.
  24. Outlanding strips everywhere. Nice.
  25. Agree, years back when I had the Skyfox Ca21 I had to make a throttle lock to maintain the throttle at idle setting with a padlock securing it to meet the requirement.
