  1. Unlike - As far as I know (ERSA) Parkes is still a Security Controlled Airport. This is the main factor that then leads to most of the other issues.😈
  2. My landings are inconsistent. Going from "have I actually landed" to that was so bad, I had better check for damage. I thought I was the only one, that is until I saw this video of just how bad a professional pilot can be;😈
  3. I recomend BOYCOTTING the Parkes RAA event. Its a completely inappropriate venue for a RAA fly-in. Being a Security Controlled Airport: Requiring pilots to hold an ASIC or be escorted to/from their aircraft. Public have no access to the flight line. Aircraft flight line/parking, a long walk from event centre. Yes there was an infrequent shuttle bus - walking better than a long wait in the heat & flies. Last year there was no control of arriving/departing aircraft, resulting in potential dangerous appossing circuit operations. Nor was their adequate ground marshaling of departing aircraft. On site catering was woefully inadequate, with long ques for the 2 (?) providers of pretty awful food, once you got to order. What was wrong with the Narromine/Temora venues??????😈
  4. By "reviews" you mean BFR's ? If so, you have verified & validated your license every two years. An active, unregistered/lapsed license holder, should be obvious, to at least instructor's/CFI's, as it would eventually become known that they were not being assessed at the BFR intervals. The above may take a while - 1-3 BFR's, say Max 6 years. It appears the pilot being discussed has been flying unregistered for something like 10+ years😈
  5. Wiered! The informal flying community, that I hope I am part of, would seem to be intersted in the welfare, flying exploits & challenges of its members. I doubt an unlicensed pilot would not be found out at some point. An unregistered aircraft may escape notice for a long time, as I know of no feedback system from RAA or CASA, that might bring such a situaton to my notice or anyone 😈
  6. Newton SPRL 3 way fuel valve V1-3 Part Number 05-04450 Never used, still in box with AN6 fittings to suit. $610.00 Negotiable Delivery at purchaser cost (Free delivery within 2 hrs flying time. Purchaser to pay landing fees)😈 Note: This valve has a lift & turn , posative location knob.
  7. Newton Equipment A300, locking, 6 hole, flange, neck 2. Never used, still in box, gasket, two keys, nuts/bolts to suit . $280 Negotiable Delivery at purchasers cost (free to airfield within 2 hrs flying. Landing fees to be payed by purchaser)😈
  8. Three points : What is in the can ie what is the fire suppressant? How would it be secure in the aircraft? In an aircraft context, how & where would you use it? 😈
  9. There is usually a flying instructor / CFI (GA and /or RAA) somewhere in the vicinity - I would have thought that someone flying illegally, over many years, would have come to their notice - where were they in all of this????😈
  10. Having done a "speed" read of this conversation, I i have not found a reference to : Where the aircraft was kept - ie property belonging to the offending "pilot", public or private airfield, other. Culpability of those others who knew, or should have known, that neither the pilot or aircraft, met the minimum standards for flight. This comes down to the single question - how did this unlicensed pilot and his unregistered aircraft fly for so long, without coming to the notice of the relevant authorities? It seems to me that there may be other guilty parties in this matter😈
  11. No experince - I understand that a Wankel has a much greater power to weight advantage over a 4/piston engine. This may mean that a relatively small engine can be substituted for a larger = fuel consumption? once started, will get you "home", even with considerable integral problems. Safety enhancement. veeeery smoooth /low vibration. Reduced airframe & pilot fatigue. compact/low frontal area - cowling design could take advantage of this for improved airframe efficiency. When you consider the 160+ years the IC piston engine has been in production/under development, compared with the 60+years of the Wankel, I don't think the rotary is doing so badly.😈
  12. I thought as you do, however I was advised, by CASA, that there no legal/practical problem with using my SE2 IN/OUT & my ADS-B Out at the same time😈
  13. In general; Most men have great difficulty in keeping their eyes above chin level, when attractive real-estate, lower down, is on display. Most of the females, of our species, would seem to be adept at making the most of their physical "assets", such that the male will, without conscious forethought, visually appraise the real estate. I am told, other females will also asses the assets on display but with much greater critical analysis, than the male. It would seem that the aforementioned displays, are the human female competing with other females, rather than a specific wish to draw the male gaze (bad luck fella's) Sorry BrendAn, both male & female humans, are "hard wired" to " judge a book by its cover", at least in the first instance. 😈
  14. (Following are my understanding of Australian airspace regulations at the present time & foreseeable future) SE2 is In & Out ADSB Transponder (limited range). SE2 can be run in parallel with a compliant ADSB Out transponder. For maximum benefit the SE2 needs to be Bluetoothed connected to a suitable EFB display (eg iPad/OZRunways). The display will show ADSB OUT equipped aircrafts in the vicinity (10Nm +?) For aircraft without an EFB display, there is still a benefit in that other aircraft, fitted with an ADSB IN display, will be able to see an avoid the SE2 equipped aircraft. For entry to Controlled Airspace (CTA) the aircraft must be fitted with a compliant Transponder (Mode S, ADSB out, legacy Mode A & C). SE2 does not currently meet the standard's for entry to CTA. This does not mean that SE2 is not a valuable safety tool, especially when used in congested airspace eg Sydney. The still legal/current, legacy Mode A & C transponders are not compatible with SE2 ie do not show up on your iPad. I presume that they are not compatible with any on board ADSB systems. In congested airspace, this makes for a real safety issue. If anything is to be made "...obsolete.." it should be the old systems ASAP!. True our authorities sometimes impose incredible stupid/impractical/ineffective regulations on us, however I cant see the aviation authorities making "...Sky Echo units .... obsolete..." any time soon, as this would be a significant backward step, in their current drive towards the (subsidised) fitting of ADSB systems in small aircraft. I doubt that SE2 will be made obsolete, : As it does not conflict with ADSB Out If the sole transponder on board, as long as the aircraft/pilot does not wish to enter CTA 😈
  15. "I got told that our Sky Echo units may be obsolete in 18 months, due to CASA changes?" What changes????😈
  16. Its a good thing shes not my copilot - concentration may be my problem, even with an emergency 😈
  17. Bit light on detail. Not bad performance, for a single seater - a more aerodynamic cowl and tighter inner air flow, may yield more. Rotax Install Update: Onex/912ULS Flies and New Cooper Install Kits Available – Sonex Aircraft😈

  18. Its great that the aircraft landed safely. As with all technological advancement, it seems that the era of the human pilot becoming redundant, is well and truly upon us.😈
  19. Had to have turn around the block, 40C on the ground, 22C at 5500'. Thought it might have been a bit cooler aloft. Smooth as silk but angry looking clouds out west. A few lumps (not real turbulence) as I got down near circuit height. Unusually few aircraft in the air - Christmas shopping?? Managed a few touch & goes - all good. Bit warm, called it a day at 1.1 Hobbs😈
  20. There was an anti perch product called Hot Foot (I think) that might be worth exploring. 😈
  21. .22 rat shot!😈
  22. The above post must have done the trick - one way or another Mike got in touch today. All good!😈
  23. ALL I have been corresponding with Mikearthur002 on this topic - suddenly no response. Anyone know if he's okay or not??? 😈
  24. Unlucky then?😈
  25. Maate! I love vans (as long as diesel engine/manual gearbox/rear wheel drive.) In 50+ years of driving I have had one breakdown, in my first car ( inherited an issue from previous owners) and 3 in company trucks - lack of adequate servicing. Had a roo take out a tail light, but never hit any mammal (very occasionally a bird). You are either the unluckiest owner or skimp on maintenance. 😈
