    Its now mid week and there has been no response from OzRunway regarding my "outage" enquiry or for that matter much comment from the Forum😈

    Just had a very quick glance - When I flew on the Comet (sometime in the 1950's) it was all one class - no recollection of 1's & 2nd.. Bet they don't have my favourite DH of all time the Hornet.😈

    Obvious statement; Humans are not adapted for flight. When it come to in flight eye sight / see and avoid, we are, to put it mildly, CRAP! On & from the ground (in a vehicle) we function quite well. Our eyes are adapted to see against a contrasting (limited) two dimensional world. In the past, in certain areas, our best defence against a mid air incident, is/was the low chance of encountering another aircraft. We need "clues" ( target a visual search area) where to look for other airborne aircraft We developed airborne radio & communication systems that have served us very well - recent down grading not so good. The arrival of low cost electronic systems (OzRunways/SE2/transponders) that can be fitted to small aircraft, has been a wonderful leap forward in safety BUT as you say should not be totally relied on (fixated) but used in conjunction with good radio comms & see & avoid😈

    I have a SE2 & a Trig TT22 Mode S transponder. Have never quite got my head around all the ins/out however I have been assured that the operation of the SE2, in parallel with the Trig is perfectly legal/acceptable. So I am wondering about statement along the lines of; ".......transmit function turn off in my SkyEcho2 because it was last used in an aircraft with a adsb transponder...." ".......it's against the regs to have two OUT devices going at once in the same aircraft)....." To the best of my limited understanding my SE2 is operating to its full capacity , no functions have been switched of😈

    " (it's against the regs to have two OUT devices going at once in the same aircraft)." The bulk of Forum members, who have a transponder, will not have an IN capacity (mostly bigger aircraft). This advise, while correct, may "muddy the waters", giving some the idea that the SE2 can not be operated, in parallel, with their existing transponder. It can😈

    Hi again Ian - passing thought; Danny_Galaga's "Started A Spare Parts List" was/is a great idea. Any chance of this being a stand alone topic where people can go to get parts information without having to plough through masses of chit chat.?😈

    Press On button - thee LED's will light up . Then connect it via WiFi (Settings in iPad) to your iPad/OzRunways. You should then see a lot more traffic Blue Bubbles.😈

    "my SE2 keeps working though," I assume my SE2 continued to work (transmit) throughout the outage but there was no information being displayed on my iPad. Both OzRunways & SE2 came back, without any intervention from, me after 3-5 minutes being AWOL😈

    Hi PC, "It's multi-layered fibreglass bent into a radius during the layup. two legs, each bolts to the bottom of the fusilage under the rear of the seat base and the then bends down in a radius to the hub mount." Speculation: You may be able to shim the leg : fuselage inside bolts, to change the camber. Toe will either require a special angled shim on the axle: leg OR you may have to elongate two or more leg : fuselage mounting holes to get sufficient movement to effect an adjustment. 😈

    Some more info; I have always used Telstra, as it is supposed to give near nationwide service (recent news seems to dispute this claim). I have an SE2 linked to my OzRunways - its info was also absent during the outage. 😈

    Yesterday afternoon, I was stooging around, just to the West of the new Badgerys Creek airfield, when , for the second time in as many months, my OzRunways Blue Balloon Traffic indicators, all disappeared. About 3-5 minutes later they came back. I have no recollection of this sort of "outage" any time in the 10 years + that I have subscribed to OzRunways. Anyone; Got an explanation? Had a similar experience? I have writen to OzRunways & hope to receive a response next week.😈

    Ian - I really do appreciate all you have done. This Forum has taught me much, been a great information resource on all things aviation (++ at times). While I admire your altruistic approach, I can not bring myself to make a donation ($??) - ask me for a membership fee, known $ amount/annum, that will if all pay, cover your costs and then some and I will gladly subscribe. As a cash strapped retiree, I also appreciate your sentiment "It would discriminate against those that can't afford it" but in reality recreational aviation is an expensive hobby - a nominal fee, to your Forum, to access information that may save hundreds - thousands of dollars, as well as a life, is worth a small annual fee/investment. I suggest a compromise; Non members can access the Forum, in a read only capacity. Member can submit topics for & enter into discussion. This may address, to a significant degree, your altruistic intent, to make, potentially life saving, information available to all and ensure the long term continuation of the Forum, by assist with the running costs . 😈

    I second all of the accolades to Ian. I have one criticism - Voluntary Subscription. I don't make a financial subscription to this Forum. I do subscribe to others. WHY? Simply because they ask for a particular nominal ($) amount. Should you change your policy from "voluntary" to requested, I will be happy to pay.😈

    UPDATE on Dynon problem. Horsham Aviation may have solved my Dynon ADAHRS repeating failure. On advice from LAME, I disconcerted my Pitot/Static/ A of A tubes from the ADAHRS module EUREKA!!!! system immediately worked correctly. One or more tubes would seem to be partially blocked confusing the ADAHRS electronics. I blew out all three tubes, using a 12V compressor - no indication of back pressure. Re attached all three tubes - system continues to work. Such a simple fix, after many months of complex testing, diagnostic downloads & about 4 replacement ADAHRS modules and one loner SV (screen). In the past the system has failed at between 3-6 Hobbs hours, so it will be interesting to see if I can get past this pattern. Living in hope!😈

    Sonex HW - No wing struts Likly smaller capacity engine range Retained less than desirable undercarriage design (round spring steel) Problematic fuelling point just in front of polycarbonate windscreen Typical Sonex rather nasty transition point just behind door Electric flaps & trim - bit of a non KISS innovation 😈.

    Not relevant - The fact remains the balance weight is moving within the elevator - not a good situaton. Balance weights are supposed to remain at a fixed distance from the hinge mechanism - if its moving in whole or part it needs fixing. All I have done is suggest some possible techniques. that may achieve the repair.😈

    No I hadn't - Now have. Doesn't change my suggestion(s) Loose balance (shot) seems to be a very undesirable situaton Composite "horns" look to be waiting for careful "undressing" - suggest inner flat can, with great care, be opened up using something like a Dremel cut off wheel (use goggles, quality dust mask & vacuum cleaner to containe as much dust as possible). Piece removed could possibly used in "repairing" opening. I have a further thought about about "epoxy" fix - IF in fact epoxy has failed, it would be unwise to try and just fix the problem by pouring epoxy mixed with shot into a hole in elevator horn - this leaves the integrity of the "old" epoxy/shot mix in question. Also you could still open up the horn - remove ALL old shot/epoxy and replace with fresh of same mass😈

    OR dismantle the elevator ends Remove shot & carefully weigh & records the weight. Make a female mold of the shape/size of weight to put into/onto the horn- at a pinch you can use wood, might be better with something like cement. Almost any shape able/mouldable material that will temporarily stand up to molten lead will be suitable. Melt lead (add a little extra) in any old saucepans/tin that you can hold over a flame (wood/gas) Pour molten lead into mould - will "set" within a minute or two. When you have two cool shaped lead weights - adjust weight by shaving or drilling to correct weight as advised by kit manufactures or as per original removed weight. Refit/attach weights to elevator. Refit elevator Go fly NOTE: Making a "solid" weight out of shot, using epoxy, will result in a change of mass - you will need to adjust accordingly. 😈
