  1. To glide in from 10nm. I would need to be at 25000 feet...
  2. How is "Power off Pete"
  3. And you let her use the good headsets. ?
  4. Also regarding the original post..... My Ran S6S has a top mounted radiator with louvers in the top cowl, below is the carbs then the exhaust. The radiator is twice the size of the standard Rotax one but my CHT's are higher than a Savannah (as a example) so I don't believe that the location of the louvers on the top cowl work the best. I also have had issues with the carb vent location due to airflow hitting them from different locations (disturbed /turbulent airflow) which was one of the reasons I fitted a airbox. Kiwi
  5. I for one didn't take the original posters comments too seriously. While he may have had good intentions, from this and other posts he seems to lack practical knowledge about how aircraft work. (no offence intended)
  6. Hi Mark. I have sent you a private message.
  7. Most Drifters that I have seen have this type of boost pump.
  8. Mine has a alloy tube frame with centre brace and the two peice1.5 mm lexen bubbles out. The door frame is about 25mm from the opening. I know the Savannah quite well, I helped a friend build one, it now has hinged windows on the upper half that can be opened in flight. I will try and get some photos. Here is a clip of a door opening (unintentional) in flight ( not mine)
  9. I think it is caused by the shape of the fuselage in front of the doors on the Savannah. My Rans S6 also has a top hinged door with the gas strut on the rear of the door, you can open the door in flight if you slow down to 50 knots, then you can speed back up to cruise speed. Been a Drifter pilot I quite like the doors been open.
  10. Most In my experience it may be bug guts not rust. Get a blue scour pad and wd40 and try gently cleaning the marks off. Kiwi
  11. Hi All, I found Amberley ATIS on 123.3 working again, I don't know if it is here to stay...... I hope it is. Kiwi
  12. I can't leave till the Friday, back Sunday so won't have enough time to take the Drifter. Still going but in something faster..... Probably the Rans S6 or the Hilux :-D
  13. Ask Dave if you can steal the golf and take it to Narromine in October, if he says yes go talk to Brian at the Tigers..... Grummo, Bob and Ian are also going. Kiwi
  14. My screenshot was from the website. Kiwi
  15. "Parking is $10 per day" One of the reasons we decided to go to the fly-in at Narromine in October instead.
  16. I believe the RAAus answered the questions put to them about the medicals correctly, they were asked questions and they answered them. HOWEVER they should have abstained from the vote as there is a very obvious conflict of interest. Kiwi
  17. [quote="frank marriott, post: 679145, member: 1859" If you were still on the RAAus board, how would you have answered the questions about the effect of self-certification private drivers licence medicals for GA RPL and PPL holders, and about the possible ramifications to the Raaus in to both membership numbers and finance? Just for the record, I hold both Raaus and GA licences.
  18. Bull, there are plenty of other posts currently going on about the management of the RAAus, you would better off posting on one of them rather than posting on this one, how about posting positive posts about how fantastic the old natflys were (I went all of them from 2001, most of them in a Drifter). Kiwi
  19. This thread has NOTHING to do with the RAAus flyin at Cessnock..... Ian, can you please remove Bulls and other non revelant posts as they cause nothing but confusion. kiwi.
  20. Copied this from Facebook ...... Not all of AOPA are happy with their management. "Well I guess this is as good a time to start as anywhere. I am converting to my RAAus licence and I will be doing it with Dan at Dubbo who was recommended to me. I am also an AOPA member and I was the Vice President of AOPA until late last year, to be honest with you I had had enough of the endless political crap. I just like flying and particularly bush flying which I did quite a bit of and float planes and airliners it just kept going. I loved it all and still do. I am still training pilots and I wanted to make a contribution in GA. Most pilots I know are just not much interested in politics so I won’t beat around the bush, excuse the pun. We need a change of management in the AOPA and we need it pretty quickly or there won’t be much of anything at all. Just constant fighting and grand standing it just doesn’t end. I will find out just how many AOPA members there really are and I will be proceeding with a proposal. Remember the AOPA belongs to all of us as members, not any one single person who seems to think he owns it. Phil "
  21. Most bearing / bolt retailers should stock them, just take the old one in. They are right hand threads on both ends, and measures the total distance of the setup before you remove them. Also don't mention that they are off a aircraft ;-)
  22. I was thinking the same thing .
  23. Check out the Web address as listed in ersa .... one too many "W's" in that one. :-?
