  1. L2s can migrate to SAAA, IF RAAus keep up the pressure, there will be no one left to work on RAAus Aircraft, be the same for Instructors soon, they will be able to migrate to do RPL training soon?
  2. My thoughts personally, RAAus should have stayed incorporated, BUT the members voted to change it? WHY? Because the members of the day probably were not aware it was a scheme by the hierarchy to take almost total control. NOW, we are not even members…..we are Stakeholders, RAAus words 😕 Well, that may not end well, for us. But never fear, we can go VH and maintain our aircraft that we did not build, subject to getting a certificate after qualifying the SAAA approved Maintainer Course. CASA then issue you with your approval to repair and maintain 👍 Happy days, goodbye RAAus…….. The chickens are coming home to roost 🤩
  3. Simply reach into his Aircraft, pull out the key and tell him, he is going nowhere. But who is game to stand the personal ramifications of doing that? Someone close by will create a major scene questioning the action taken, by someone who cared, regardless? You are dealing with human beings, some who are not real bright, and that started with the Pilot 😕
  4. Yes you are 100% right, the pilot was his own worst enemy. However, I would allege RAAus tried a coverup on their part, which in essence was not a smart thing to do in a Coroner’s Court. If RAAus left it all as it was, they MAY have got a smack on the hand? My comment is not really qualified, as I was not party to the intimate details of the whole incident. The facts of the outcome of this crash are sad everywhere, but what is done…..is done
  5. It would take a serious legal action to be lost, for that to happen, and what I see on the table from Mt Beauty, I don’t see it causing big problem, but then what would I know? Not sure IF the Bristell incident will cause something, but that maybe water under the bridge?
  6. Well, now we have everyone thinking? We just wait and see the final Terms and Conditions that RAAus publish, for us to abide by. Like everything these days, the membership have not been consulted for ideas to contribute. Never give people a chance for input, as the organisation may get to hear, what they don’t like. Insurance policies these days are full of escape clauses etc. With the new T’s and C’s don’t expect protection from anything as a member, because it will be only to protect RAAus and its hierarchy, which is logical in this day and age. It will be interesting to see what’s in it for members, OR what’s out of it? Just think, IF RAAus was still Incorporated, the new T’s and C’s may not have had any potential, to be a problem?
  7. I somehow don’t think this happened in RAAus case that was under investigation?
  8. Thinking a bit more about this, I think it might be off the back of the investigation on the Jabiru from Mount Beauty crash, and the family wanting to sue RAAus. But on top of that CASA, is not impressed on the RAAus FUBAR allegedly withholding information from the Coroner’s Inquest? we will just have to wait and see what the terms and conditions are, and what they contain and work it out from there. Even CASA could be behind all this, and have instructed RAAus to tighten up on the legal side of things to protect themselves.
  9. In that case, I can cease to be an RAAus member and register my Aircraft in my business name that has an ABN?
  10. Part of this is probably in response to the fact that RAAus have outsourced the MARAP process to a private company and that probably brings insurance problems with it as well. So part of the terms and conditions may be amended or change to consider that situation and no doubt anything in the future that.RAAus does. The fact will simply be, you have no choice but to sign them even if you don’t like them or agree with them, because quite simply you won’t have membership if you do not agree and sign.
  11. Very true but what you find somewhere in the wording will be if you breach the terms and conditions your membership could be cancelled. This happened to me with a bank account when I went to pay my gliding club membership by a bank transfer I got contacted by the fraud department saying I was transferring to a fraudulent account. I had breached the terms and conditions the bank cancelled my account and closed it. That’s the worst of these kinds of things the other problem I have with all this sort of thing is no one changes these kinds of things without disadvantaging somebody somewhere and it’s usually the membership that will suffer. I’d like to think I’m very wrong and hope it is that way.
  12. But you can’t have an RAAus registered aircraft, without being a member of. RAAus
  13. I have to wonder where this will take us? Must be signed before membership renewals are paid? I guess if you don’t agree and sign, you cannot continue membership AND your Aircraft becomes unregistered? Maybe these terms and conditions need to be scrutinised carefully? Rarely are things like this are changed to be a benefit, to members. I HOPE there are benefits for members?
  14. Start thinking ahead you won’t even have any landing rights even if you’re prepared to pay for them soon because you’ll have to put in a flight plan for everything and submit your total aircraft details to the place where you are landing. Make sure all of the approvals are in place for your aircraft or you will be denied landing rights. That’s where aviation is going to end up. You will wish you never owned an aeroplane the way it’s going.
  15. IF it’s a mandated requirement by RAAus for compliance, yet the work is outsourced/contracted out? RAAus insurance may be null and void on a claim as a result of engineering requirements set by a 3rd party? You want really screw things up? Outsource it, and go buy a bag of Popcorn and WAIT 🤩
  16. Darren Barnfield? started the concept with good intentions, which was a good idea. But RAAus poured fertiliser on it and made it grow into way more than what it started. So, I would allege they probably sold it off and the members will never know the details of what went on. I was talking to someone last week, no names, no pack drill. He enquired about getting an MARAP and was shocked at the cost? He needs 2 of them by the looks. He had 2 words for RAAus, first one stats with G and second one starts with F. His comments? He will do his own mods AND repeats the 2 words 🤢 And fly away happy, at no extra cost 🤩
  17. So much for an announcement to the members that this is happening and that is a bit of a problem with RAAus, there does not seem to be much transparency to members. And that is a bit of a problem I have.
  18. Nev, there ARE choices, you don’t have to fly to an airfield that charges landing fees UNLESS you want provided facilities. Going off the wall 🤩 Your plane will fly just as well if it’s unreg OR you don’t have a licence for it. Many are unreg and not RAA members,? Who is gonna catch’em? I personally know a man who CASA were chasing over 40 years ago, for running an illegal charter operation with a C-47? They tried hard to catch him, but got lost looking for him and even overslept their alarm clocks 🤩 Early bird, catches worm 🐛 As I said, go VH stick to private airfields, attend impromptu invited Fly Ins and be happy. RAAus make noises ,but do nothing, except collect rego money, memberships fees, Sell MARAPs, and I now suspect we will lose a printed magazine.
  19. Try 3 months……I have seen paperwork 👍
  20. Well, I ended up settling on this oil as an interim solution, however the caveat is……it requires very good mixing, preferably in a small 5 litre container, then added to a 20 litre container, with further agitation to throughly mix it properly THEN fill the aircraft. Proper mixing is paramount 👍 Long term, is probably Brendan’s suggestion on Amsoil Interceptor brand. Which I would use to commission my new 582 I fit to the Thruster?
  21. Some time ago, a clandestine fly in was held in a reasonable remote area, it was attendance by invitation only. From feedback I received, many attendees were unhappy with the direction RAAus is taking and as such, some are no longer members, read into that and it’s obvious what’s going on. However, there will soon be choices, to easily go VH with RAAus registered aircraft? Fly on RPL with all the benefits, maintain your own aircraft, even IF you did not build it, after passing the accredited SAAA Maintenance Course, present that Certificate to CASA and receive their approval to maintain your own aircraft. This should all be approved by end of this year, from what I personally know. CASA want this to happen and have been very obliging, in the negotiations to achieve this. Stay tuned……
  22. Well, I wanted to build an Airstrip on my property, after doing some clandestine research I discovered I could end up drawing the Crabs 🦀 So, I have carefully cleared a paddock which is rather wide, and plently long enough for my X-Air STD to get off and return to. Its simply a paddock in a rural area, cleared and will be raked off with a set of diamond narrows to smooth it. Job done ✅ The plan is, I fly the X-Air out to my big hangar about 70km away, then I can fly my other aircraft from the made and approved airstrip on a friends property. Answer is……just have cleared area big enough to use as an airstrip, when you don’t have an airstrip 🤩
  23. How clean do the spark plugs read? Do you run recommended heat grade, where is your IGN timing set?
  24. The 618 runs premix, same a the new factory 582 that I got.
  25. Rotax 618 with 99 hours TT in an X-Air Standard
