gee Guys, why ya gotta bring me in on this
We are all interested in trip reports not only in flying recreational aircraft but even as a member of this great community the holidays that we take.
So what say we make it that the Trip Reports forum be just for recreational flying trips and other trip reports we have in the general discussion area - hey, I am guilty of putting my Europe trip in the Trip Reports forum so I gather I created the precedence.
Is that ok with all?
I will move this over to the general discussion forum and oh Darren, what souvenirs (or things falling into your bag) did you score?
-
Thanks mate - I will have a look at seeing if I can do a deal with them to have some of their things here as stock items
-
Good points there - whoever ships it they must know not to include any wood in the packing of it or if they do it has to be treated for importation into Australia with appropriate certificates.
If it comes in parts then make sure it is listed as Aircraft Parts so there isn't any duty on it but you will have to pay GST on the value that the seller places in the paperwork.
There are a lot of clearing agents around who will probably charge $150+ (it's the + that hurts with doc fess etc). It is sometimes better for the shipping to be organised door to door so some fees are not charged.
I think the above is right with my knowledge so far but should be confirmed by your own research.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you jeff but the couple of people I emailed about it have come back saying that it was to far away for them to help out. They could only advise to get the person you are getting it from to get you quotes from a local shipper - sorry but I tried!

Hi All
I am hoping that there may be a L2 out there that is close to Melb that could help me to remove and then later reinstall a Gazelle engine - not for free offcourse but not at LAME rates either.
I am having the Gazelle engine completely rebuilt to a certified 912A engine by Floods and then I need an L2 to help with the install so it can be signed off.
Please let me know by PM if you want a job and a price (fixed or hourly) - thanks!

have a look at Wicks Aircraft at http://www.wicksaircraft.com and if there is anything there then just let me know and I will order it in for you as Rec Flying is the Aust Agent for them.

Ok guys my biggest apologies for being side tracked a bit of late but now it's time to focus on the Echuca Mk 2 Flyin.
The trophies are going to be real collector editions has they have 2007 on them

I am organising loads of new aircraft to be there on display, CASA to give a talk and hopefully I will get someone from the RA-Aus as well.
The formal dinner is being organised and i have guaranteed a minimum of 40+ people at the dinner so come along and help not send me broke
We are also looking at having some old aircraft on display as well - pleanty of forum members to meet up with and have a chat - get to know each other in person - pick on the forum moderation ;) and everything else that happens when a bunch of RA pilots get together.
Oh, we are going to have the 'Must Have" usual fire going at night so come along from the Friday 22nd to Sun 24th Feb 2008.
Spread the word!!!

Are my stars for today telling me to stay VFR

Clouds of illusion may be situated between you and the open sky, yet you could convince yourself that you still can see the stars. Be careful, for it's likely you are perceiving what's inside your mind and not what's actually out there. It's empowering to get in touch with your inner visions as long as you don't confuse them with reality. Let your thoughts lift you into the heavens, but don't lose sight of the ground. By Rick Levine

Thinks may have changed since another forum member and I were there a couple of weeks ago talking to both the AME and Nathan. Please let me know what you find out - much interested!

I have kept quiet about this but will let you know now what I know.
Nathan Muller is an instructor at Wallan - he is absolutely brilliant and you would be so lucky to get him to teach you to fly - I have many great stories about him.
The owner of the school was showing off doing beat ups at Shepparton in his helicopter when I was there one day - with a crowd outside the clubrooms he flew over the rooms doing a severe turn missing the top of the flagpole by only feet - I along with other people there were shocked, only 1 little thing to go wrong and 10-20 lives could have been lost - no thanks!
The Wallan airfield has been sold and a couple of days before Christmas everyone was given their marching orders - including the airfield manager and long time LAME there. This is the last I heard about 2 weeks ago.
-
Ok Guys/Gals - what would you like to have organised for the Echuca Flyin?
Any indication who will be coming along?
Pete - will give you a ring tonight!

Are you buying a kit and if so then the manufacturers should be able to provide the shipping for you.
Let me know what you are getting and I will see if my US contacts can help?
-
Guys
The other day in one of my shipments from the US I received for the shop 50 copies of a basic guide to epoxy systems that will be free other then the shipping cost of $1.75.
The subjects covered are:
Handling Epoxy:
Safety, Cleanup
Epoxy chemistry
Dispensing and mixing
Adding fillers and additives
Basic Techniques:
Surface preparation
Bonding (gluing)
Bonding with fillets
Bonding fasteners and hardware
Fairing
Applying woven cloth and tape
Epoxy barrier coating
Final surface preparation
Finish coatings
Problem solver
As I said they are free booklets that will be available from the shop except for the shipping cost - I hope these will help some people.
Also, there is a big surprise coming soon to help ALL kit builders - mums the word at the moment but will let you know when it is all ready

Airsick - it has been a bit quiet with the Master at the moment because in the top part of Italy where the Master is going through its testing is all covered in snow however I should receive the latest flight data next week.
Just to let you know the extremely high standard of the company that is producing the Master here is some pictures of their factory and things they have done:
